How is the poppy a stand in for hateful speech in any way? And they can protest all they like, but it's honestly counter productive the way they're going about it, all it does is solidify public opinion against them and makes many people wish to cause them grievous harm. And they can say what they want, just no burning of the poppy, it's a different war that encompassed the entire globe in a battle against imperialistic fascism, not fighting in a fucking sand box to stop some pissed off shit heads blowing up some buildings and shit cause they're all butthurt over foreign policy.
So I guess these people hail from the Muslim equivalent of the Westboro Baptist Church? Then the best way to make them go away is stop giving them the media attention they want.
Yes, burning the poppy is there way of saying "I fucking hate the army and wish to disrespect everything related to them, including the families of those who have died, and all their friends who were heartbroken and grieving for them". If you banned them from burning the poppy, they'd still be able to say "I fucking hate the army and wish to disrespect everything related to them, including the families of those who have died, and all their friends who were heartbroken and grieving for them", but instead of burning a poppy they'd have to say it, or write it on a piece of paper. As a result, banning them from burning the poppy is ultimately futile as the poppy itself is merely a stand in for some hateful speech.
That's much too idealist, to make any law effective you have to basically break the rules. For example, every citizen has a right to be free, yet prisoners and convicts and such aren't allowed to be free. If you want to please most of the country, stand up for your soldiers and practice what you preach, you need to stop people from burning the poppy.

Pretty sure they were chanting that during the minutes silence if I remember correctly.
disgusting [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] somebody remind me why they live in a country that they disagree with so much again
Because they would wither and die without the generous social security network of the UK. You can't expect these people to support themselves can you?
disgusting [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] somebody remind me why they live in a country that they disagree with so much again
Cause they're a bunch of self righteous fucking wankers who think they are better than everyone else because they think their sky man is superior to everyone elses sky man. I personally side with Zeus, he fucks bitches and parties on mountains, what's not to like?

If it's ok for them to say "I fucking hate the army and wish to disrespect everything related to them, including the families of those who have died, and all their friends who were heartbroken and grieving for them" and it's ok for them to write "I fucking hate the army and wish to disrespect everything related to them, including the families of those who have died, and all their friends who were heartbroken and grieving for them", why is it not ok to burn a poppy as a symbolic gesture of "I fucking hate the army and wish to disrespect everything related to them, including the families of those who have died, and all their friends who were heartbroken and grieving for them"?
