Wikileaks prepares next dump, Pentagon continues smear campaign

None of the stuff they post is even interesting or remotely important.
Fictional example:
"NEW FLASH FROM WIKILEAKS. MARINES BLEW UP A HOUSE WITH CHILDREN IN IT.
ps. the house was also the known location of a Taliban mortar emplacement. Permission to fire was requested through the correct channels and granted. The mortar was destroyed, killing seven Talbian fighters. One woman and one child were also killed."
Angsty rebellious teenagers
Yep, anything but indifference is teenage angst :downs:
The real world isn't exactly like Call of Duty.
Thia man is a lying sack of shit.
They were leaked by a PFC?
Who the fuck gives a PFC control of anything more than his rifle?
He was an intelligence analyst and not a grunt. The fuck would he need a rifle for, shooting holes in papers?
Oh and he did the right thing. Have you actually seen it?
Who reads these documents anyway?
I do.
Oh shit, the FBI has evidence on me now!:tinfoil:
True, also conspiracy theorists (may be same group) or people who are just curious and skeptical of the government
So patriots then.
I wonder if Wikileaks would do this if we are in a more serious war, say against China or North Korea.
The whole news article was sensationalist bullshit and liberal bias, why did you post this? I know facepunch is heavily anarcho-liberal, but does that mean posting obviously biased 'news reports' just to stir up the angsty teenagers?
I won't read it myself, I'll just wait for other people to find some interesting stuff and make news out of it.
[editline]02:39PM[/editline]
Also, what's up with this whole "Angsty teenager" thing? And how is that related to reading documents?

Facepunch is out if its authoritarian stage and passing through its crotchety elderly conservative stage
These documents are very valuble to conspiracy theroists like me.
It's a shame Pvt. Manning is being jailed for so long for doing the right thing.
Funny thing is the people who actually broke the law are the ones punishing him. Funny how that works.
It hasn't been actually proven that Manning did anything.
Yes well, starting a war in Vietnam for no reason does tend to make people angry, I think.
I'm not saying its right in the first place, I'm saying look at the population excited about this. Now, cut off the ones who actually legitimately think its wrong to hide this stuff which is like 20%....and you get a-holes just looking for reasons to spit on someone. IN the end, these documents will go no where and will eventually cause more damage then they prevent to veterans who were not part of any of these evil acts.
Every choice we make causes collateral damage somewhere, you must have the foresight to see it and plan for it. That's the job of being a general, I have fucking ADHD and I do this.

Damn. If only the rest of us could think of the consequences of our actions.

yes, im sure the bus full of children that was strafed by soldiers was a known terrorist hideout
you tool

Everyone does do this, most just choose to ignore it because we think either, "I don't care, its my life!" or "No one will know."
"We all make choices, but in the end our choices make us."

Which is why every veteran of the Iraq War should be called a baby killer and given the stigma of that incident their entire lives.

fuck man, your right
if we keep telling people that the military is saturated with sexual assault and brutality eventually people are going to dislike people in the military
fuck man, your right

Yeah, not just people, the entire military. Even the ones who AREN'T EVEN FUCKING INVOLVED. But yeah thats okay dude, no thats fine. Totally put a stigma on the guy who was doing this to serve his country and didn't do anything like that or even kill any children. Thats TOTALLY okay, because you know, we haven't seen what happens afterward. (You should research what happen to veterans after Veitnam...and you're a tool too.)

Holy shit, did you know that since those priests molested those children, all priests are thought of child rapists?
We should never have let that information see the light of day! Now that stigma will follow these priests for the rest of their lives!

i like how you value how people think about the people in the military more than the people who are raped in, or are victims of actions committed by the military.
Oh lawdy! We can't let watergate get out, or else people will think that poor, honest politicians are conniving scum when they weren't even involved! Won't someone think of the children?
People aren't even remotely interested when I make a dump.

So you'd rather have the information out there and let stereotypes run wild. Wow you're the biggest douchebag I've ever met...you'd cause more harm in the long run.
People aren't even remotely interested when I make a dump.
I already have the poop on your dumps before you make them, maybe if you had stronger moral fiber you could release something with more bits and pieces of juicy information in it.

hahahaha
wow you are completely missing my point, by like, a mile.
Yeah, I want people to know what the military does, therefor I want people to HATE OUR TROOPS
yeah, does that adhd come with a persecution complex?

I'm talking about the presentation, not the information itself.
You'd be surprised at the stories of decorated, completely innocent Vietnam vets living on the street because no one wanted to hire a "baby killer."

So you think the actions of the few should dictate the mentality of the whole, ain't that a wonderful world you live in. Imagine how World War 2 would've turned out if we had mass media back then.

I also like how you completely dodged my point and just went straight to "U H8 TEH TR00PS U DOUCHE", as if that could be my only possible motivation.

You are completely missing my point.
I don't give a flying fuck what people think. That is irrelevant. What matters here is that, if atrocities are being performed, it needs to be known that they are being performed. You can't give the military a free pass to do whatever the fuck it wants, because then it's just going to get worse, and even more innocent people will be hurt. And innocent people matter more than anybody's fucking image.

I hope you can see how this can be a detriment. How would the ally war effort in World War 2 have been different had we mass media/the internet to talk about the firebombing of Dresden? Or the unrestricted bombings of Japanese cities?

Perhaps we might have been able to hold out for Japan's surrender instead of nuking them.
Perhaps pro nazi sentiment might have been drastically reduced due to the leaking of information pertaining to the concentration camps.
Oh, the horror.
The japanese were fighting to the fucking death, and even after the war was over and isolated groups of troops were informed that japan had surrendered they continued fighting until they were killed.
The japanese weren't going to surrender for a long time, and besides more people would have died in the drawn out fighting if the atomic bombs weren't dropped.
Perhaps the gestapo would have continued to do what they were doing and kidnap everyone who spread that information? Maybe you don't realise that public support for the war wavered very very very fast and I assume you know that the war continued anyway.

Oh stow it. I'm not arguing history with you, because that's not going to go anywhere and it's not going to accomplish anything.
He wanted to talk about hypotheticals, I gave him hypotheticals.
