I doubt proportionally the 1% have much, if any, more people who are of the disposition to sexually assault someone than the rest of the population. Rather, I suspect it's that the 1% have the money and connections to largely avoid the consequences, and thus are far more likely to act on their disposition.
I suppose it's important to make the distinction that there are plenty of people who would do this, had they the means.
Every NDA I've signed was taken away after I've signed both copies. The content of the NDA is under NDA. I don't see the problem with this part of the story.
Any NDAs that I signed were given to me in duplicate, so I had my own copy. Not being given a copy of NDA for legal reference seems sketchy.

But you can just choose not to sign the papers you don't have the opportunity to read. You could choose not to take the job where they tell you to to wear next to nothing for men with more money than morals, you could choose not to go to the after party. I mean there's victim blaming, and then there's making drama out of a job you knew you were going to do, of which you got paid well for. Fucking stupid thing to get morally outraged about.
There's literally no excuse for groping people and harassing them while they're working or while they're not. I really can't fathom how you can think yourself a socialist and then turn around and get mad at working people who are exploited.

Are you a fucking idiot, or just doing a poor job of being ironic?
If you're supposedly all for 'eating the rich' then you understand that not everyone in this country has the capacity to turn down a job, especially when getting one is difficult as if is. And even if you're doing a job that doesn't mean you sign up to be groped and harrassed. That's like saying a paramedic deserves to be abused by a violent/aggressive patient or that a shop clerk should expect to be threatened at knife point.
Attitudes like this really need to fuck off, same goes for the disgusting parasites who were involved with this. They all deserve to rot.
All the details were not clear before the event and clearly you don't sign up for an event that says "hostess with potential sexual harassment". Also leaving when given the NDA might sound easy, but they might have been deep in the building at that point and most caved to peer pressure.
Standard manipulation/coercion tactic.

This.
Ive always found it strange that people adopt this attitude when it involves women working customer facing jobs being sexually harassed or assaulted at work- but would never apply the logic to any other worker in any other kind of job.
"Why are they pressing charges? those officers got paid good money to have petrol bombs lobbed at them!"
"What's all the fuss about? you got a job as a bus driver- another driver was bound to plough into you eventually!"
"What were you expecting? you work at a bank, are you trying to tell me you've never heard of a "bank-robber" prior to the incident?!"
Not everyone has the luxury of saying no to a job.
I am somehow both unsurprised and disgusted that shit like this still goes on.

No I'll stick to my guns here; That's not a long term job promising steady income, it's a gig. You do something once, you get paid. As someone said, there were enough red flags here for a communist revolution (I'll die from the irony there) so complaining about "sexual harrassment" when you signed on for something only slightly short of sexual prostitution is a fucking moron move that detracts from real cases of sexual harassment. It's like a fucking lifeguard complaining they had to swim.
Yes, these men are disgusting, and I've seen a user be banned for expressing views on them less extreme than my own, but you're not gonna get them by citing lecherous behaviour on women who've been paid to deal with it. Sure, some of them were new and could've been warned better, it's the kind of job that needs thick skin. I would've taken the job were it available to me, and I might have complaints, but they'd have to be worse than described for me to really bring them up to someone important.

The company said they had a zero tolerance policy toward that kind of behaviour. That was an outright lie on their part.

I guess we know the answer to this question now.

Yeah it's funny, in other times, people would say the same thing about women in Hollywood. Sexual harassment was just an expected part of the job. You're selling your looks after all, right? You're paid to be sexy, right? You knew what you were getting into, right? And if you didn't, tough luck, you should've! Didn't like it? Tough luck, again! You got paid, so why are you complaining?
Because fuck treating other people with respect. Fuck professionalism. Fuck caring about accountability for the elites who use promises of money and power to pressure others into accepting their monstrosity as normal. Doing that requires basic human decency, and why would you want that?
Tesla and BMW cancelled the sale of some cars the club had bought for the auction:
Tesla, which had sold one of its Model X SUVs to the Presidents Club for its charity auction, has now cancelled the sale, the FT reported Jan. 24.
The Palo Alto electric car maker described the night’s events as ‘disgusting,’ and said it refused to support any group that would play host to such behavior, according to the FT.
“BMW has followed Tesla’s lead and cancelled the sale of an i8 supercar that was also auctioned at the event,” the FT reported.

"Basic Human Dignity" is clearly something you've never heard of, and don't even like the concept of
The FT/reporter's desire to make a tabloid style story has cost charities millions of pounds in fundraising. Hundreds of people who probably have done nothing wrong are being named and shamed for attending a charity function. Its interesting that despite the reporter having what I assume was a hidden camera, the only ‘damning’ video is the auctioneer making a joke.
Some individuals were bad I assume, but that doesn't make everyoen attending the event scum.

I've never seen you have a single opinion that wasn't atrocious, ignorant, horribly backed up, or any combination of the three.
Have some sense and empathy, man. You have blatant disregard for other people's desperate situations.

Yes, that's very obvious, and it's apparent people here are very susceptible to tabloids. The fucking quote attacks plastic surgery offers and lumps it in with sexual harassment.
Jesus, it's like none of you guys have ever copped flak before. Have any of you ever been bullied, harassed, sexually harassed, or told to do absolute bullshit? If you're not the weakest human being within the mile you'd fucking ignore it, respond, and otherwise get along with your life. Now, they aren't suffering abuse over a long period of time, they get one night, and they get paid. Now, you might be thinking that this was especially traumatic because the article said "Some of them were still students!!!" (Of university or college I'd imagine) and are thus imagining sweet, innocent, pretty girls that have never been harassed in their life who you'd love to protect, but have some faith in other people that they aren't fucking weaklings. You don't get leprosy because some dickhead told you to take your goddamn nickers off!

So we're supposed to have faith that other people aren't 'fucking weaklings' (by the way, way to insult people who are traumatized from sexual harassment, kiddo) but them assuming they wouldn't be groped and harassed, i.e. having faith in the visitors to not be sexual harassers, was really dumb?
Jesus christ, you really are reprehensible.

You could sum this post up as "Lol sexual harassment isn't that big a deal, I mean it was only one night!"
And I could respond by saying: yes it fucking is get over yourself.

i can't even begin to fathom how socially bankrupt this entire statement is.
i've tried to type an intelligent response but i can't do it. you lack any sort of empathy whatsoever, and i hope to god you're never in a position of power over anyone.
Why can't these clubs just get fully willing participants instead of fucking tricking people into doing it?
Such an easy and reasonable solution.
remember kids if it happens once it's not a crime

Seems like a case of trying to have their cake and eat it.
Can't have hired strippers because that would look sleazy, so instead they hired hostesses and tried to get them to act like strippers ~of their own accord~.

I don't like this at all, but perhaps if this was the thing they wanted these people to do, maybe hire escorts or something? I was led to understand that the whole purpose behind escorts was specifically that they were meant to be presentable for single, wealthy gentleman to present as a +1 for parties and then some after-party hijinks of the bed variety. Not to mention discretion is also a core part of their profession, so unless anyone actually used an escort service and could recognize them, the other people who had no idea wouldn't have even been any wiser to it.

Escorts are more expensive, why pay more when you can exploit and coerce students

Because if they hired strippers/prostitutes/escorts/whatever else, their club wouldn't have been shuttered?
On top of being totally fucked up, this situation doesn't make very much sense even practically.

Go walk up to any victim of sexual harassment and tell them to not be a "fucking weakling". I'm sure that would resonate well with any logical person. Do you genuinely believe this argument, or are you just too stubborn and contrarian to concede? You're an embarrassment.
