Bernie still needs to win most states by ~60% margins. It's not likely, but possible - NY is very much in our sights, PA less so. A strong showing in NY and PA are mandatory. If he can pull those with >55% margins, plus sweep Cali and some other states, still a definite possibility he can win the nomination. I'm amazed he's still going. I've doubted that he'll manage to keep up like 5 times this race. But he keeps up and closes the gap even more every time. 538 has him at 92% of his delegate need. This is up almost 5% from a few weeks ago - if he can keep showings up >55% or hopefully >60% he can absolutely win the nomination. The NV flip plus Wisconsin means he'll be ~200 delegates behind. Relies mostly on NY, PA, and CA at this point. So fucking exciting.

If he took Hillary's home state it would be a game changer.
I feel like the crux of his campaign is New York. If he can't win it, California doesn't matter.
Well, Tuesday came and went and I didn't make it to the polls because I was busy out making money. So it goes. I certainly couldn't have voted for Cruz just based on how ugly he is, that's the extent of my current presidential race knowledge. :v: It's really turned into a monkey show, it has.
Even I am very curious how the Dems will turnout in New York, both of them have ties to it so it'll be interesting.
Clinton is going to come out swinging at the debate. This should be fun.
There's always the libertarian party if you want to a hole in the side of your head
To be honest, we have more evidence of socialism putting a hole in the side of your head than libertarians. [editline]6th April 2016[/editline] This isn't an attack on socialism if some of you want to try and turn it that way. If it is shown to work in a certain setting, I am all for it, whatever fixes this shitfest we're in now.
13 percent lead right now with 90 something percent in. Was a good night for sanders, hoping for a similar win in NY
13 percent lead right now with 90 something percent in. Was a good night for sanders, hoping for a similar win in NY
That's optimistic as fuck. Even a 1-2% win would be a huge upset.
NY is not going to go well for him because it's a closed primary that closed VERY early in the race.
NY is not going to go well for him because it's a closed primary that closed VERY early in the race.
Could somebody explain?
Could somebody explain?
you have to have registered as a democrat very early on in the race. back when sanders wasnt as publicly known as he is now. problem is: a lot of his votes come from undecided and independents. those two demographics have little reason to have registered as democrat that early on in the race. essentially, the people that are most likely to support sanders literally are not allowed to vote for him.

They had a pretty big registration push in NYC. Hopefully it was enough
i hope bernie wins because not only will we have a p. good president, but starpluck will also finally be gone!
Closed primaries are really dumb imo
Closed primaries are really dumb imo
Yup, I've been silently optimistic until reading about that. Hopefully it doesn't screw Bernie over too much.
Yup, I've been silently optimistic until reading about that. Hopefully it doesn't screw Bernie over too much.
PA has closed primaries as well. They closed about a week ago.
Closed primaries are really dumb imo
I don't get what's so bad about them. It's how pre-selection is done throughout the rest of the world, including here. Open primaries/pre-selection are the exception to the norm.

If someone wants to vote, I don't see why they can't register at any time and do so. A lot of people don't bother voting and stuff like this doesn't help at all.
Closed primaries are really dumb imo
Party registration closed on March 25th for NY. Tbh that was more than enough time for people to choose their party. I have no sympathy for people who didn't take the time to register before the deadline, there's more than enough advanced notice.

Having a deadline probably makes it easier to keep track of that shit

Sent in my Absentee Ballot for the PA primary yesterday. John Fetterman, one of only a few candidates who supports Sanders, is running for senator in PA. If there's anyone else here that's voting in PA, I'd encourage them to vote for Fetterman over the incumbent candidate and the two establishment Democrats.
I'd hope for closer to 60-40. 56% is bare minimum, actually I think it's closer to 56.6%.
Can't believe he got 56.5% with a 13.3% margin.

I'm not sure if I misclicked something or there was an error, but now it's probably too late to fix and I'm pissed as hell.

So I went back on the DMV website and clicked it again, this was 3 weeks ago and haven't received another card. Going in to vote one way or the other.
Recent polls from PA and NY have shown sanders down 10 points and 6 points, respectively. He should do very well.

Guess I won't be voting in the primary.
