kinda sad when you think about i think everyone deserves a chance at love
i dont think masturbating over cartoons of 12 year olds or ponies reallllyy helps you find a lover
who cares anime is still dumb
No, you are dumb.
Excuuuuuse meeeeee but I found my soulmate on OkCupid and we're planning on spending the rest of our lives together. :colbert: Even if everything won't go as we want, matchmaking services are still not bullshit.
I'll be honest that sounds like classic infatuation. Probably your first sustained relationship; that was the only time I've felt 'like that'. Every relationship since is nice, but I don't go over the top anymore. Most dating sites end in failures; seen as the person you're getting with is more often than not someone who wants a relationship but is struggling to get in one, and normally there's a reason for that. You got lucky. However, she probably isn't your soulmate (I don't think there's such a thing if I'm honest). You just fit reasonably well together.

This phenomenon is really not a case of there being a sudden explosion in the number of anime-otaku and everybody being too socially awkward to get a girlfriend. It has nothing to do with anime at all; otaku of various kinds have existed for decades. The problem is many (often slim and good-looking) guys, some even have girlfriends, simply aren't interested in sex. In Japan, these men are referred to as "herbivorous men" - it's a problem with the feelings of the male towards sex, not a problem with his ability to get a girlfriend. As for the reason it's happening, I don't know, but really, cut the anime crap :v:
This has nothing to do with anime, this has to deal with the high standards both gender place on eachother. They believe they can't meet up with it so they give up.
You'd think having a low birth rate would be a good thing for an overpopulated country.
Indeed, an infatuation that last for almost a year now. I don't want to give away too personal details but we've got something very special in common, something I thought I'd never find in anyone before I met her. Also, you're wrong, this is my third sustained relationship and two previous ones lasted for at least a year. I'm not your average 14 y/o Facepuncher, I know what I'm talking about, boy.

Yes, infatuation can last a year. I had infatuation that lasted 12 months with my first girlfriend, we broke up shortly after our 13th month. But, if you think she's your soul mate, feel free to keep believing that. I certainly don't however, but that's only my opinion.
Gosh I understand that it's sensationalist headlines but in the past two days this is the second headline I've seen that's just plain wrong.

Nothing personal, I just don't like when people think that I don't know what I'm talking about.
I don't see any mention of anime in the article, but 2D girls are better than 3D!!! they have SOULS! unlike the baka 3D girls that are mean and cruel! Just look at this happy man with his 2D waifu! a 3D girl wouldn't be as nice to him!!!

In my eyes you and her are just a good match, there's no such thing as a soulmate. Quite relative to this actually, a (slightly comedic song):
And yet population in Africa and India keeps rising.
This just in: new study finds that Facepunchers only read the headline.
I see what you're talking about but have no belief in it. In my eyes you and her are just a good match, there's no such thing as a soulmate.
I wish I could tell you all the details.
I wish I could tell you all the details.
If you truly feel the need to disprove my opinion, feel free to PM me. But otherwise, both are opinions. There is no 'soulmates are real', or the opposite, as there is no easy way to prove or disprove either despite me obviously backing the latter and there being scientifical and biological explanations to what some conceive as soulmates, as it is a perspective soulmates aren't a very material thing.
Shit, I may watch anime and all that, but I have other reasons to visit Japan. The culture is genuinely interesting and the scenery is very nice.
They've got a name for it too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hikikomori
And yet population in Africa and India keeps rising.
Because they're LEDC's, it's what they do.
Gosh I understand that it's sensationalist headlines but in the past two days this is the second headline I've seen that's just plain wrong.
I swear "Sensationalist Headlines" is going beyond "Sensationalist" and into "Make shit up, nobody reads the article anyway".
Does this mean that by around 2030 we'll start to see a plummet in japanese housing prices? I wonder if they are intentionally keeping themselves single. You know, in case things roll out like on the TV and some helpless japanese girl comes screaming for them? :v:

Let me explain myself. By 'soulmate' I don't mean some mystic soul-connection newage bullshit as you might've thought. What I mean is when two people fit so well together that they feel as if they were created for each other. Basically, just a very good match.
uhh I didn't see anime anywhere in the news artic- OH WAIT HAHA NERDS I GET IT LOL XD ur so cool!!! [editline]28th November 2011[/editline] gas thread ban OP
They've got a name for it too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hikikomori
Not really. A more accurate term would be NEET
I know a minority yay
i blame conformity. from what i've read in Japan either you're part of society or you aren't. so all the people in Japan who aren't part of society formed their own subculture.
I only started watching anime a year and a half ago and I got a boyfriend just recently. Suck it, Japan, anime has done more for me than it has for you!
This could be bad for them in the future, underpopulation is as serious a problem as overpopulation for the economy, and as far as I know there is little immigration into Japan.
The world is seriously overpopulated and is slowly dying, humans falling in love with fictional people might just be evolution trying to stop us from ruining this planet.
