Very alive. A lot of people still play it on GameRanger but expect to be killed fast lol. Shockwave has its own online system now which is great.

Russia was originally planned to be in the game, but was dropped in favor of China. They wanted to do something different, since everyone always did Russians.

You missed a step.

Between announcing C&C Generals 2 and cancelling it, they renamed it as reboot-y "Command & Conquer" and announced it would be Free-To-Play.

That was two years of hype shot and thrown into a ditch, and I've been playing C&C since I was 4.
