What are you basing this on? I mean statistically it would be strange for the people who have those genetic disorders to at the same time also have a higher chance of being next to people who smoke.

I forgot I didn't phrase the first post how I wanted to, legitimately my bad. What I meant to say was something more along the lines of, some of that shit is not proven, sourceable, or true at all. Some of it is wife tales bullshit. And that site is as biased as it gets. So, that doesn't count. [editline]7th February 2011[/editline]
What are you basing this on? Again, you know something about statistics now? With your strong firm grasp of english and arguing structure as well as anything else we talk about on this forum, I'm just going to say, no you have no clue what you're talking about and you pulled that out of your ass.
please. can you please, please, pretty please show this. can you show me that 2nd hand smoke isnt as bad as I think. I will admit im willing to trust government funded science institutions with statistics then I am you. If you are not willing to give proof how am I supposed to believe you? Sure you will just think that somehow my bad punctuation as an excuse or something or other so you dont need to give proof. But yes I do know something about statistics and until you can give proof for what you have been saying you are just a raging smoker.
oh boy another smoking thread if somebody wants to smoke in an open space in public, how much danger is it really to others?
I feel like if people would use e-cig-
New York New York is considering a state-wide ban, due to the concern of some health officials that e-cigarettes can be addictive, and could hook kids early and legally on smoking. Several concerns with public safety have also been raised. But some advocates[who?] say that e-cigarettes are beneficial since they can help break the habit of smoking. Also, scientists at the University of California, Berkeley said that e-cigarettes had great potential reducing the morbidity and mortality related to smoking.
well fuck, that doesn't help. Makes my thought almost pointless. But yeah, doesn't it make sense to switch to e-cigarettes?
Maybe if you researched, you would be able to tell the difference. [img_thumb]http://www.healthwatchcenter.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/causes-of-death-smoking.jpg[/img_thumb]
people get that it's harmful. point is they should still be allowed to do so if they wish. that's the way it should be in the supposedly free country we live in.
I'm getting sick and tired of all the smokers acting all arrogant and shit. It's a fucking addiction, it does you no good, and it hurts us who don't smoke as well (it really FUCKING DOES). If you don't believe it does, it actually makes me having a bad time outside. However, smoking in a park isn't really that big of a deal considering it's a large area and all. But when it is in restaurants, outside of the fucking school or in any other small area, then please take it somewhere else. It's as stupid as enforcing a law which bans alcohol or weed (don't get me fucking started if you think it is bad for you, whoever that is reading this). But it isn't stupid to enforce a rule. I like rules. They can be flexible for anyone. And I think it's a idea to enforce the rule in small areas such as bus stops perhaps, waiting rooms, any area that is small or closed.
people get that it's harmful. point is they should still be allowed to do so if they wish. that's the way it should be in the supposedly free country we live in.
I say if it is a huge area were one persons smoke will have to be inhaled by over 30 people or something then they should ban it, but also if they make places were people are able to smoke near by like bars for smoking or something. Since this 2nd hand smoke could effect people who go to central park often. I don't mind smokers and most of my family smokes but I also see how there smoking effects the people around them. Or we could invest into the electric cigarette.
oh boy another smoking thread if somebody wants to smoke in an open space in public, how much danger is it really to others?
but it's iiiiiicccckyyyyy
There's a reason it's banned in places like restaurants. If you don't want to inhale second hand smoke, don't frequent a place where the room is filled with smoke.
Yeah, stay out of Central Park and Times Square. Take that non-smokers!!!
Smoke kills me instantly I try to ignore the smell as much as i can.
Smoke kills me instantly
really now
kills me mood it does [editline]9th February 2011[/editline] but that's because I have chosen to be angry at smokers so yeah but it really is disgusting to walk out in a big sour cloud of cigarette smoke outside of your school (hey your school might not have this but our does)
I think the pollution from other gas/oil appliances(Cars, factories, smoke stacks, etc) is more dangerous than cigarette smoke.
Smoking feels good man, stop being jealous people.
Smoking feels good man, stop being jealous people.
so good especially when under the influence of anything
I violently cough and have a very hard time breathing for hours even when I walk anywhere near someone who's smoking for just a second. I support this movement entirely. If you want to smoke, do it at home. Others shouldn't have to suffer because of someone else's choices.
Lol, fucking bullshit. Even if you have asthma you are not going to have that reaction for "hours" (or even at all I bet) just because you walked by a pack of smokers.
I hope this ban will decrease the amount of cigarette butts everywhere. Especially at beaches.
They should just ban cigarettes completely, all they do is damage your body, people around you and the environment. [editline]9th February 2011[/editline]
Lol, fucking bullshit. Half the time it's like I'm breathing in damp air and it's really not nice.

Literally all it is. You'd be dead now if you were that fragile, but no, you're just a mentally weak person if that "happens" to you. Also, no they shouldn't. 1) Prohibition never works, 2) So fucking what? It's my choice to slowly poison myself. I don't see where you come into this at all.
They should just ban cigarettes completely, all they do is damage your body, people around you and the environment.
They should just ban cigarettes completely,
Banning drugs doesn't work. This has been shown through history over and over again and hey at least the government gets tax dollars off of it.
Good riddance, ban cigs, decriminalize bud.
Good riddance, ban cigs, decriminalize bud.
Haha The second hand risks are similar, at least second hand tobacco smoke won't impair you
I've never been really impaired by it. I can still drive straight and all. The only thing I can't do is play video games properly.
I can understand the ban in enclosed areas, but what's the purpose of this? You could simply, I dunno, walk around people smoking to avoid most of it.
Right, so I should have to go out of my way to avoid discomfort from someone else. The smokers I've met know that they shouldn't be smoking and they acknowledge that it bothers other people. So I'm not going to say they're jerks. But the fact remains that smoke bothers some people, like me, and as someone else stated, it's a useless past time that does nothing but kill the smoker. No benefits to smoke, but there are negatives in doing it, so why exactly should it continue? There should be a bit of pressure to quit smoking, but not a whole lot that it drives them to take another drag as soon as they get out of the area.
I DON'T LIKE THE THING YOU DO SO I FULLY SUPPORT THE GOVERNMENT BANNING YOU FROM DOING IT EVEN WHEN IT POSES NO THREAT TO Me
IT DOESN'T BOTHER ME SO EVEN IF IT BOTHERS SOMEONE ELSE I'M STILL GOING TO SUPPORT IT EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NO BENEFITS IN DOING SO
I can understand the ban in enclosed areas, but what's the purpose of this? You could simply, I dunno, walk around people smoking to avoid most of it.
Most of the time you people don't notice someone is smoking until they smell the smoke.

"go out of your way" as in take four or five steps? stop your exaggerated whining.
Well the same could be said to the smoker. Hold it for 5 minutes or go to some place less then a block away and smoke. Either way it seems a group of people are going to have to be bothered though. I guess it depends on who you dont want to get bothered more the smoker or the non smoker.
