Many people who get food stamps, COULD afford food, but they would have to give up other commodities.
My family COULD get by without food stamps, but we are still qualified for them because of how low our income is, so we decided to apply for them.

The food stamp thing is about more than this last economic downturn. It's about the death of the American dream. It used to be a hard working guy could support a family on 'blue collar' work. No more. Now you better have a college degree and your wife/husband too, if you want to support a family in more than paycheck to paycheck mode.

What we're seeing, most likely, is the death of what was America. All of the foreign investors and even domestic investors have their eyes in newer, virgin, markets (China, India, etc.). The quality of life will continue to decline until it's the same as the rest of the capitalist nations.

But they don't pay for alcohol so ya know what really pisses me off.
They buy like $12 worth of shit on foodstamps. Or as they call it "foodastamp"

Right, because everyone on food stamps is exactly like that.
I think it's a good program, unfortunately it's able to be abused by illegal immigrants. And many of them couldn't care less about running the country into the ground, obviously that's not true for all but it's almost as if they've seen our kindness and aid programs designed for legal citizens as a weakness to be exploited.
