Israel is one of the most aggressive countries I've ever heard of. I mean, I am literally disgusted at how they act, and the fact that our elected officials feel obligated to help out since their predecessors started the nation. No, they are aggressive dickwads who think war is diplomacy. Their past doesn't matter. That has nothing to do with the present. Israel needs to stop being the fucking dictionary definition of jingoism and brinkmanship and act like a civilized first world nation should.

In the last 10 years we invaded two countries, one under false pretenses, both posing negligible strategic threat to the United States, led a series of air strikes on a third, and we're regularly firing missiles into at least two more, killing thousands of people. America tends to get a pass because it's allied with everybody and their dog and because we've been doing it so long people just see it as normal, AND because we and our close allies are the owners of the most prominent international news outlets, but make no mistake, the United States is a VERY aggressive country. It's still kind of untrue, though--this latest series of airstrikes has come after a long lull (last major operation was Cast Lead, I think) whereas America's been blowing people up consistently in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Yemen pretty much nonstop from then till now. It doesn't get reported on as much because it's so common that it's no linger news, but way more people than died in Pillar of Cloud die every month due to US airstrikes.

I wasn't being as elegant with my point, but I'm just saying the US, as ridiculous as they are, isn't as inept and stupid as the IDF is with their bombings and ground work. At least the US military has its collective shit together. They for the most part KNOW what they're doing which is something I can't say for the IDF.

I saw a group of at least 50 palestinians outside the town hall in my town today chanting something about stopping the Israel occupation of Palestine. Feels a lot more real when you see a big group of people passionate about the cause.

And while it's a fair distinction to make, it's definitely not one that's being articulated by the vast majority of critics. People talk about civilian casualties, full stop, and on those grounds the U.S. doesn't have a leg to stand on, was my point.
