The Panha 2091 "Toufan" is an Iranian overhaul and upgrade of the Bell AH-1J Sea Cobra light-attack helicopters purchased before the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Im no longer going to say any country that isnt the US of A is capable of producing a simple machine.
"The chopper is an advanced generation of Model 209, or Cobra, choppers which is also equipped with different types of home-made caliber guns, rockets and missiles."
He, himself, says right there that the stuff they made is an advanced generation of the Cobra that they equipped with new guns... By the way, Fars News isn't exactly a reliable source on this matter, given that it's an Iranian propaganda site, more or less.
[sp]By the way, quit rating me dumb AND arguing with me. It looks stupid. Either you argue, or you ghost-rate. Both is just overkill.[/sp]

A lot of countries, even backwards stone-age ones like Italy, are. However, Iran have not done it yet, either because they haven't seen the need to do so thanks to the 202 helicopters that they have UPGRADED some of to modern standards being sufficient for their purpose.

Nothing Iranian is reliable, but that is what they say and its all there is to go on.
Its more or less plausibility vs what they say. Remember when I said Israeli jets could be shot down? Yeah guess how that turned out. What I said is no more reliable then what you said.
shit
Panha 2091 isn't HESA P4 though..
I can only imagine war in the next century... instead of man killing one another we will have legions of unmanned drones of all sorts to fight our wars.

...Isn't that a state-run Iranian news source? Thats about as valid as a state run Nork news source, or fox news.

Isn't that pretty much the only source there is when it comes to sanctioned militaries? Hell, this article is from their state news. Nothing else.

Their state news claimed all their test missiles launched. Their state news they hacked into the US UAV to make it land safely when it clearly crashed. Their state news are lies and propaganda.

Hehe youre like a kid whos been beat in an argument, knows he is in the wrong but decides that everyone else is stupid and he is right because he is the all knowing military guru. Get over yourself.
Probably Israel's missile sites or the lovely prison camps for the poor Palestinian people.
You mean, the other way around, right?

That was a pretty great post if I do say so myself, definitely related to the topic at hand.
Just sayan, Iran is known to be pretty much compulsive liars when it comes to their military capacities.

I mean, it's POSSIBLE, but I'm skeptical. Iran's locally produced attack helicopter is a kit-chopper with a sheet metal skin on it; their stealth plane-boats are kit-ekranoplans with PKMs... Sorta not impressed here.
Keep underestimating them. It's ignorant people like you that keep the war from breaking out, so thank you.
Their state news claimed all their test missiles launched. Their state news they hacked into the US UAV to make it land safely when it clearly crashed. Their state news are lies and propaganda.
Then by your logic everything you did to contradict what I said was indeed a lie.

You have a bright future of debating ahead of you, champ
How is this a kit helicopter?

They seem to be able to build Cobra's, long range strike UAV's and of coarse MRBM's. They seem decent compared to the rest of the middle east's technological ability. Plus they're the only country in the middle east to have a space program, not to mention nuclear program. I think you're underestimating Iran.
It would seem they actually have quite a lot of these

in excess of 45 reverse engineered by Iran
When we pull out of Afghanistan, we should put some of our surplus choppers on the Iranian border and blow them to hell.

Upgraded, not reverse engineered.
Upgraded, not reverse engineered.
They can't overhaul the cockpit etc without first reverse engineering it. Are you just arguing for the sake of arguing now?
They can't overhaul the cockpit etc without first reverse engineering it. Are you just arguing for the sake of arguing now?
I can upgrade my computer's graphics card without first reverse engineering it.
They can't overhaul the cockpit etc without first reverse engineering it. Are you just arguing for the sake of arguing now?
Okay so some people are saying they forward engineered it and others, like you, are saying they reverse engineered it so let's just compromise and say they left it in neutral.
Looks like Iran is taking up the All american Ideal. I have a drone! The American Drone!
I can upgrade my computer's graphics card without first reverse engineering it.
There's a difference between swapping out compatible parts and putting something in something it wasn't designed for. With your example it would be more like taking out the graphics card, exploring every part of the mother board to ensure that what you will make will work in it without having anything to base it off of, then building your own graphics card and throwing it in.
Reverse engineering is figureing out how shit works. You need to know how it works before you can start putting your own junk in it.
Not saying it didn't take pictures, just saying it didn't catch anything 'secret' or 'illegal'.
Stealth fighterplane boats far ahead of any technology the Imperialists or Zionists fiel.
It's not IMPOSSIBLE that they might'ave uncovered something sensitive or secret, but it is kind of... Well, let's just bring a ten-kilo bag of rock-salt to take it with, shall we?
Well, let's just bring a ten-kilo bag of rock-salt to take it with, shall we?
Say that in any thread about "succesful" NATO combat against insurgents in Afghanistan and watch everyone flip out.

Wow, holy shit, three pictures from an autocratic regime that lies to their people to keep power.
Yeah, that means their military is shit, and they're lying about this, that has nothing to do with domestic affairs.
Say that in any thread about "succesful" NATO combat against insurgents in Afghanistan and watch everyone flip out.
Personally I trust NATO's word over Iran when it comes to things like this.
I get how it's funny to look down on brown people and their militarys, but can we stop underestimating Iran already? They aren't Taliban fighters. They have an organized, funded military, and who the hell cares if they haven't actually reverse engineered any Cobras, because they could probably just design a comparable helicopter from the ground up at this point anyway.
You guys need to realize that fighting Iran would not be the same thing as fighting the Taliban.
