It's funny. I watch just as much porn as I did before I got a girlfriend. In fact, I think I may watch even more porn but I'm not really keeping track. I have no trouble at all when getting intimate, so it's not like watching porn is affecting my relationship. I'd just say my libido is higher than average. I guess it's all about mentality. I'm not as well endowed as porn actors, but my partner doesn't expect me to be. She isn't a model or anything, but I wasn't really looking for a model. A lot of porn involves anything but ordinary people in ordinary situations, I guess when young, impressionable people don't realise that then it would cause some sort of harm. The obvious solution is, of course, good sex ed. I'm neither the first nor the last to say so, but it would be nice if people listened.
Porn can really hurt. It puts up fake precedents for how people should treat sex partners
It can, but nearly every other media sets up false precedents towards their respective subject matter. Life isn't full of beautiful people, detective work ain't a film noir extravaganza, school isn't full of students bursting into dance routines, and Japan isn't full of mecha pilots sporting harems. It's all fantasy, but given that the subject is generally taboo, it's most of what people learning have. I've been through the Utah sex education where I got the bare minimum in contraceptive use, learned how babby is formed, and then was basically left to figure out the rest on my own. Kids that don't get guidance from their parents or know where to look online would be the most vulnerable to it.
lets jack off every day for a month that would end this debacle
Way ahead of you, buddy.
Way ahead of you, buddy.
ok hmu when the month is over
ok hmu when the month is over
i don't think you understand his implication
i don't think you understand his implication
he implied he jerked off every day already i started jerking off for every day i didnt im gonna win this race No seriously yeah you guys are right I was looking at it the wrong way.
long term exposure to pornography drains you of dopamine. watching porn every day and jacking off will make you feel shitty after doing it consistently for a month. this is why you feel like shit after jacking off so much in a week imagine this happening consistently over the course of a year you'd feel a lot like shit right this is what i learned in psychology class at least
You're talking about people who jack off several times a day, every day. Not your average masturbator. And again, this isn't a porn thing, it's a sex thing. Porn isn't the issue here. Dopamine is really quick to regenerate as well, it's not a finite resource in the slightest.
yeah yeah i get it now
The biggest problem is that they are looking at the problem backwards. They think that seeking and viewing pornography is causing the problems in their state when in fact the high percentage of porn viewership represents exactly how sexually repressed the people of their state are. The religious 'monopoly' exerts a massive amount of social pressure on individuals which causes behaviors characteristic of severe sexual repression. Making it harder to access pornography will only make the problem worse as hundreds of thousands of severely sexually repressed individuals suddenly find themselves without an outlet to their deeply internalized 'perversions' that they have been indoctrinated to believe are a just cause to be made into a social pariah. There could very well be an epidemic of sexual deviancy in Utah if this goes down in accordance to the worst-case-scenario for how a government can completely ignore decades of psychological research and do 'whatever they think their god thinks should be done.'
I don't think I've ever seen proof that sexual frustration leads to sex crimes.
Porn addiction can make you only attracted to the porn, as it turns off the neural pathways to attractiveness from anything else. You dont find normal women or men attractive anymore, it can also make you have relationship problems, develop ed, and new fetishes. Sources: My life and r/nofap
well /r/nofap is a crazy cult so they aren't a good source for anything
State enforced no fap when?
When can we declare Utah to be a public health hazard? :v:
it can also make you... develop... new fetishes.
Like that's a bad thing :q:
well /r/nofap is a crazy cult so they aren't a good source for anything
/r/NoFap is really weird. It started off innocent enough, as a support group for people addicted to porn but now people seem to think that if you don't jack off you get superpowers or some shit. I shit you not, some people legitimately think that they become stronger and such if you don't masturbate. It's hilarious, but sad.
You can litigate human nature, but you can't suppress it worth a shit.
You can always oppress them and punish them for it. And you can suppress your needs and urges.
should just game the system and only jack/slick it to dragon porn because then your unrealistic expectations will be placed on dragons and not human people which is good because dragons are almost for sure not real
Porn can really hurt. It puts up fake precedents for how people should treat sex partners
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't this a campaign set up by anti-porn people and proven false by scientists?
I never quite got the anti-porn as all blocking it will do is lead to more casual sex. Which in turn is much riskier as then you got possible STD's and baby's happening. Were porn for the most part will reduce the amount of casual sex that happens. Nor will it stop people from getting into a relationship as that is way more than just sex. As well as that porn is nowhere near as pleasurable, compared to having sex with someone when emotions are involved. For fetishes well they just should be explored as their isn't anything wrong with them. That doesn't include any that can bring massive harm to yourself or others. They should be treated more like a mental illness as their is most likely an underlying issue that caused that. All in all suppressing humans needs and wants is the most backwards way to handle any problem.
porn's known to destroy your neurotransmitters
What the fuck is a neurotransmitter and how does porn destroy it
/r/NoFap is really weird.
Yeah porn is no comparison to an actual relationship, in any possible sense
So is that your way of saying that porn is bad for people, or just some helpful life advice?
long term exposure to pornography drains you of dopamine. watching porn every day and jacking off will make you feel shitty after doing it consistently for a month. this is why you feel like shit after jacking off so much in a week imagine this happening consistently over the course of a year you'd feel a lot like shit right this is what i learned in psychology class at least
I masturabate every day and have been doing so for over two years and I'm perfectly happy
"Porn addiction" is a bunch of bologna. Not to say that you can't get addicted to porn, you can get addicted to anything that feels good. But the only evidence I have heard, not for its existence but that proof that it is "bad", is that it "negatively effects the way people think about relationships." My problem with this is it is a much more nebulous term to quantify. You can quantify the effects that overeating has on the body because that is a purely physical reaction but I have never seen a convincing, logical, and purely fact-based argument for why porn DOES effect relationships negatively. It's literally the same thing as saying violent media begets real-world violence. It's very hard to count and measure the effects that Dirty Harry has shooting his enemies in the face on rates of real-world violence just as it is to quantify the effects of a video of a guy pounding a lady and being really rough about it on the rates real-world sexual violence. The reason it's hard to quantify is because people are more complicated than that. It's been proved time and time again that people can enjoy the fantasy of things separate from their considerations of that thing in the real world. I just can't buy that it actually has any effect if I already believe violent media has no effect. I have yet to find any real convincing argument I can take seriously about this subject from the opposite side. It always requires me to either assume porn is bad in some way to begin with, or it cherry-picks statistics that don't directly correspond.
I was shown a video in highschool about Ted bundy and how he blamed porn for his crimes, and that was evidence for why porn is bad for people. I pointed out the fact that he was a sociopath and a murderer, and would try anything to place blame elsewhere than himself and the people showing the film literally talked down to me for 15 minutes. i nearly got a referral for what they said was "misinformation". They literally don't use logic at all.
god damnit i was misinformed guys come on....

This sounds like something that somebody told you and you just took at face value without looking any further into. Whilst i agree children should be informed that sex is nothing like porn, porn is not this crazy monstrous thing that comes in and ruins your life. Edit. oh wait i missed your post, but seriously why do people still in this day and age believe that wielding the pork sword has some terrible detrimental effect to us.

Put out more babies, more fuel for the capitalist/war machine of america to grind into less than dust.
god damnit i was misinformed guys come on....
You don't have to take every single post as a personal attack, you know. It was obvious that you didn't mean it, though I still wanted to throw my five cents in here. Maybe I was a bit rude, sorry.
I was adding on that it doesn't cause negative relationship issues unless you're already messy in the head.
Oh okay, I was a little unclear with where your statement fell into everything.
