Hmm. while promising, it also raises concerns. If this fuel were to catch on, I could see this as being hazardous to plants as they need C02. The very gas we breath out.
There will always be enough CO2 in the air, especially after the last few hundered years of human activity, so you don't really need to worry about that.
we already have a fuel source that is far superior to fossil fuel. There are some days when I really think about things and get the urge to drive an Abram through the Chevron headquarters and just fuck shit up. One of these days we're going to need the government to say, "fuck you and your rights, we're seizing your oil companies so shit can actually get done. Imminent Domain, bitch!" I know it won't happen, and if it does it creates a dark precedent of governmental control, but I can daydream...

The required landspace for use of such a large monocrop, along with the monocrop itself, causes more detriments than benefits.
Note "Enviromentally friendly". Possibly by the same tossers who use words like "Product" and "Content".
Was about to post this. But well its a catchyer title then synthetic oil in development.
Exactly why I used it. Synthetic Oil could be taken to mean artificial cooking oil or something like that. :v: [editline]2nd April 2011[/editline]
"Synthetic, environmentally friendly Fossil Fuels" Doesn't make sense by principle. Fossil fuels are so useful because we need to employ little to no effort to gain energy from them. Once you have to synthesize the fuel, it's nothing like fossil fuels just for the fact you had to synthesize it. We have always had a wide range of various chemical replacements for oil, for coal, everything. Point is that once you have to create it first to be able burn it, it's not an energy source, but more of energy storage. This is more of alternate source of energy. Basically only another use of Solar Energy. Also it's almost the same thing as growing wood in forests and chopping it to burn it, only probably with higher energy profit and easier to handle substance. I would certainly like to see this used, yet again, it seems almost too promising.
I think the idea is that it mimics Fossil Fuels, at least in chemical structure. It's just synthetic.
This is nice and all but it might get shot down like all other ideas. That and we have to make sure that the places where we will farm our oil won't get struck by natural disasters.
It will be crucified and left to rot as a warning to others for getting too close to making a competing source of oil.
Is it really so far to the end of the Earth?
