Gamebryo huh? The second I read that I actually started having second thoughts about buying the game. I'm thoroughly sick of that engine. At least they are migrating to ID tech 5 but damn I really wanted to part ways with gamebryo for good.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it being made by someone other than Bethesda?
That + Gamebryo is making my stance sway. A new TES came out and I'm not even excited.
You're so incredibly fucking wrong. Neither of those points have a shred of truth, have you even read the thread?
The dragon thing pisses me off.
[editline]15th December 2010[/editline]
Every game the series becomes more and more linear, from morrowind with all it's atmosphere to oblivion, and now they're resorting to one of the biggest staples of the fantasy genre too?
Hush cheese man, dragon enemies would be wonderful, like as a boss of one of the thousands of dungeons i expect to see.
Maybe even a transformation spell.
be $50 on pc thanks
Don't care about the price. As long as it's using Steamworks, I'll fork out the cash.

How was oblivion linear?
How was oblivion linear?
Are you serious
Look at morrowind
Now look at oblivion
From Netches, Kwarma, Telvanni, Thirsk, Udyrfrykes, Vampires with an actual backstory and clans, Dagoths, political parties and a tangible state of xenophobia and unrest as well as nix hounds to basically every fantasy RPG ever made - Wolves, Daedra (But the least original form of course! No Azura to be found anywhere), Minotaurs (Why the hell were they even included), Bandits (Not their fault but exacerbates the problem when everything else is stupid) and Undead caverns everywhere.

Oh and never ending forests
OMG YES!!!!

Sorry, maybe I've misunderstood what you're saying, but how is that linear? You do realize that being unoriginal is not the same thing as being linear, right?
Also, to those who continue to insist that Bethesda is not making this game and it's being developed on Gamebryo, you're wrong on both accounts. Here's 7 sources that say specifically that Skyrim is Bethesda's game and it will be developed on a new engine...

Now stop your whining and be glad that another Elder Scrolls game is coming.
A true fan of TES IV really wouldn't care about the engine. I poured hours in that game. I'm willing to pour alot more regardless of the engine.
I think Gamebryo is enough for The Elder Scrolls since unlike Fallout it doesn't have guns, etc. It's also an RPG and doesn't need a much better engine.
Are you serious
I think the word you're looking for is cliche, not linear
I wanna hunt a dragon and kill it with my bare hands.
oblivion was disappointing (at least compared to the masterwork that was morrowind) so why should i buy this?
oblivion was disappointing (at least compared to the masterwork that was morrowind) so why should i buy this?
Because it doesn't use the Gamebryo engine.
Morrowind did use Gamebryo!

feh. bethesda rpgs, though they have giant worlds and epic quests, have always felt hollow to me
not enough opportunity for character-building, yknow?
i like party rpgs more

What are you talking about? Most of the time Party RPG's give you nothing more then linear path work, and if you try to make an exclusive story people bitch at cha for making a god-trait character.

yeah, true, most of the time theyre fairly linear. but i like having character interactions, yknow? like i mean getting new loot and levelling up is great, yeah, but i dunno, i like a little more depth.
thats why ive always liked bioware's games, they got that shit in spades
If it uses the gamebryo engine i will poop on my face.
Hahaha, 11.11.11. That's my birthday!!
Hahaha, 11.11.11. That's my birthday!!
And it's two days before mine.
Too bad that'll be my nineteenth birthday and I doubt I'll be getting anything as big as a $60 game. But w/e.
I hope it's more like Morrowind in art, lore and writing quality. Oblivion was so much weaker in all those departments. All the generic medieval statics... really bad writing and voice acting.
SI had strong art.
I'm optimistic gaybows plz.

Shivering Isles and Fallout had really strong art and dev quality though.

Now back to Morrowind.
I love how this has the same creative director. Meaning that it will be just as good, if not better than oblivion. You guy should watch the behind the scenes for Oblivion. The team that makes these Elder Scrolls games is tiny compared to say Bungie or even Valve now.
Hahaha, 11.11.11. That's my birthday!!
are you trying to say you were born in 2011
Morrowind did use Gamebryo!
Back when it was one of the best engines for multiple genres, with cutting-edge technology. Note the use of was.
Now back to Morrowind.
Look again, the game is now Skyrim.
