like paul simon said, this will NOT work with windows 7 as the attacker, bummer

What won't work about it?
Why you shouldn't use open Wi-fi
I feel, if you don't secure your net, it's like going out with your front door unlocked, your a fool, and your likely to get something unpleasant happen to you
It doesn't work on W7? No way... there's got to be a way around it
Oh man... you don't know what you've unleashed, do you? :v:
No... not really :/
Yes.... to demonstrate.
Obviously.
Nobody cares unless there's fuss about it.
And this will create some.
its still better than ie

running as administrator might be needed to start the npf/winpcap driver (wireshark needs this if the driver hasn't been initialized already).
Am I the only one that giggled at the screenshots that are in the OP are from a Mac?
I really ought to use this at my school. Tons of people connecting to the wifi there :smug:
I can't get it to work on my own network. I tried keeping this open on my laptop then used the wireless on my desktop to log into Facebook and it did not capture it on my laptop.
Do you happen to be using Windows 7? It doesn't seem to work at all (when you press stop capture you it returns error 1)

If you have ultimate and have some time to spare, use XP mode.
[editline]26th October 2010[/editline]
Oh, apparently "error 1" is not an error and should be ignored on windows.
Has anyone got this working over a secured network or a wired network? It doesn't seem to capture any packets for me and I am not sure if its because I am using a secured network or if it just doesn't work for me (I don't have any insecure networks near me I can test with :()
Tried it on desktop, connected laptop to same router. Desktop won't see what the laptop does, but firesheep does catch it on the desktop, but only on the sites that the desktop enters.

Why would that be funny?
Why would that be funny?
Wear hipster clothes so they don't suspect you.
how the fuck do i protect myself against this shit
how the fuck do i protect myself against this shit
I'm guessing only let people / devices you trust onto your network.
Other than that wait for the websites to fix their security holes?

SSH tunnel
Wouldn't it help to add an "s" to the end of "http"?
I'm pretty sure it'll be massively illegal for you to 'have fun' with anyone's accounts you get through this.
In Canada if they have an open wifi network they are at fault since their dumbass didn't put a password on it
Wouldn't it help to add an "s" to the end of "http"?
It does, actually (in some cases)... I have my Gmail account set up to "Always use HTTPS", for instance

went into the WinPcap folder and ran the rpcapd exe as administrator, still nothing :S
time to try out xp mode

Websites that do not have https won't work. So no, it does not help

Open it with firefox and install the addon.
As for me, all my neighbours are smart, no open networks.
Https works on facebook

open rpcapd.exe with firefox? otherwise the add-on was already installed, i'm just trying to get it to actually work instead of picking up on only my logins
moral of the story, secure your fucking network already.
Yea so I'm currently connected to my universities wifi and I'm waiting for this bad boy to kick in. Everyone else around me on their laptops should go onto facebook or something instead of working on their papers. When my friend meets up with me I'll ask me to log into facebook & tell him that it wasn't working for me.
Can anyone confirm that they've got this to work for them, because I've tried to connect to FaceBook VIA my Ipod Touch, but my laptop didn't pick up the packets, or does it have to be another system? My laptop OS is Windows 7 if thats any use to someone.
yeah i'd like to know if anyone at ALL has gotten it to work on any OS with any set-up, so far i haven't heard a single success story
mr. campin so far it seems firesheep isn't working at all on w7, try xp mode
