Probably due to the very expensive procedure. Killing someone with drugs and making sure it isn't painful isn't easy.

The drugs aren't the main cost.
It is the trial protest, the appeal process etc.
Also I know people are going to start saying 'get rid of those then' - without these processes we'd see many more people needlessly get the death penalty so don't start arguing about how we don't need these.
While we're at it, why bother arresting criminals at all? Let's just shoot them in the middle of the street! Let's get some good old medieval justice going on here.

and hasn't it been proven that the death penalty doesn't actually lower crime rates at all? these people should be rehabilitated over the course of their lives in a humane prison akin to anders breivik in norway; there's no point in saying that would cost more money because the death penalty costs a lot of money too

it is better to at least attempt to rehabilitate prisoners and have a few people that it doesn't work on, than to not attempt at all and everybody stays fucked up
this is why there is such a high reoffending rate in america but people's own personal feelings stop this from being ammended
