i think invading their country in the soviet-afghan war provoked them first, they didn't go 'hey, let's just fly planes into the towers' for no reason, the US was involved too much in Afghanistan and they wanted them out.
Didn't we HELP them in Afghanistan in that conflict? The same guys who attacked us on 9/11 ?

There were far reaching implications.

That's what the media tells you.
Actually, that's what people who worked in counter-terrorism and read terrorist communications on a daily basis told me, but I guess they're just sheep and your "independent news source" hosted on Geocities knows all the facts.

I'd really like your sources.

Retired Lieutenant Commander Frank Wuco, Naval Red Teamer, responsible for interviewing, researching, and knowing what it means to be a jihadist for his two or three tours out there.
During his service in the Navy, he was told to use all of his research, personal experience, and knowledge gleaned from the field to almost literally step into the shoes of the enemy; he practiced the accent, he roleplayed the jihadist, and he thought the way the enemy does in order to predict or justify the actions of jihadist combatants.
He literally roleplays a jihadist, an alternate personality he has named and used to a great extent. Everything from interpretation of the Qu'ran from this point of view, to interpretation of the West and its actions, to standing up to argue against those stupid Americans who would argue with him (his audience, for whom he does seminars for).
Saw him personally carry out a seminar for our local Congressman, it was a very small audience my dad and I were a part of. One of the top brass from CentCom in MacDill and his family were there. Fascinating, scary stuff.
If the media is somehow poisoning me with bullcrap about how Al'Qaeda and its henchmen are indiscriminate, religiously motivated extremists, then this guy must be going to hell for his lies, because he got paid for it and soldiers' lives were dependent on him.
I sense a lot of unnecessary value of human life.
Al qieda got to hell fucker!!!
Why the fuck would they do that?

I REALLY don't see how this proves Religion is the only factor invovled.
It's all his interpretation.
If only USA could apologize... But no.
As a great gaming hero once said.....
"People don't forget. Nothing is forgiven."
If they really cared about killing innocents, then they wouldn't have done it in the first place.
Al Qaeda spokesmen and other guys are pretty political, and not just armed crazy fucknuts.
It still sort of sucks they don't have as good technology to keep invaders out but at least now there are fewer insurgents than before.
I think there starting to give in
Sorry, but I don't see how a group that regularly kills dozens of innocent people in suicide bombings can feel sympathy for what they did. I don't see how a group that opens fire into an All Girls school and kills dozens of children can feel any sort of remorse.
Also notice how they "apologised" for the deaths of innnocent Muslims. I doubt they hesitate to murder a Christian, or a Jew. Innocent or not.
What on earth are you talking about?
Oh sorry, I assumed you actually read the post I was responding to when you made your post.
I really need to stop assuming things.
It's a lie. They are still evil. They aren't muslims. Al Qaeda aren't muslims since they used violence
Shove your condolences up your arse :downs:
Well at first it seems nice until they mention by "innocents" they mean muslims.

It's just collateral damage and crossfire. :downs:

Good thing gaming hero's don't have say in geo-politics.
I don't believe them.
I guess that means occupying other countries that don't even like us for two decades is totally okay too.
Were helping them develop their countries safely. If we leave, Al Qaeda takes right back over.

Right, just like Iraq?
Kinda funny how they say this two weeks after Obama announces the deployment of 30,000 troops
They sure are screwed.
They're not apologizing for 9/11 they're apologizing for any muslims they killed.
For goodness sake THIS.
Aww isn't that nice, apologising for killing innocents we're all wrong about Al Qaeda let's have a big group hug.
I swear, 3/4 of facepunch is made up of nonsensical posts
Both the US and Al Qaeda have commited terrible atrocities in the Middle East, and neither side can really correct these problems by mere apologies.
