• Pop music too loud and all sounds the same: official

I actually just ran my Jamiroquai CDs thorugh Audacity to check on this, and they've actually gotten louder since the start in 1993. Also a different kind of music, but still - it doesn't seem entirely coincidental.
and then they should do one on rap i hate rap so much!!!! and then they should do one on gasmasks and trenchcoats oh man those are so coool
Way to stereotype. I don't mind some older rap and underground rap and I don't own a gasmask or trenchcoat and have no intention of ever owning either. But this is facepunch so stereotypes everywhere.

Every time I hear this song I think "This is the laziest attempt at music I have ever heard" They could have at least tried.
This thread is chaos.
Every time I hear this song I think "This is the laziest attempt at music I have ever heard" They could have at least tried.
So how exactly did they not try? I'm actually curious as to why this song in particular is incredibly lazy. Is it because Jamie xx produced the song? Is it because the chorus is the same as the original track? I think it all fits well together even though it does have flaws. I'm not trying to debate your taste in music versus mine, but I'm curious as to why the song is the laziest attempt at music ever.

It sorta does need life support since it's not made as much today as it was in the past or at least isn't as popular, whichever comes first
Loudness wars began about 12 years ago. Hyper-compressed music = ear boredom ever think why you can't enjoy some music you once loved? It's most likely that you have a crap loudly mastered album. [editline]27th July 2012[/editline] it is also harmful to your ears to hear things so loud with earphones. Hence why the compression done, is a crime.
It's not that the music is bad, it's that it gets a treatment which causes the music to sound boring.
Monkey see, monkey do (I don't know why). I'd rather be dead than cool. (I don't know why). Every line ends in rhyme (I don't know why). Less is more, love is blind (I don't know why).
Instantly reminded of this:

Music is music, you either like it or you dont. Dont see why all this debating is the least bit necesarry [editline]26th July 2012[/editline] I dont really care for pop music as a genre really, but there some songs i've genuinely enjoyed. And to come out and say that all music from one genre sounds the same, you are just proving that you're a retard.
Or, you know, anyone under the age of 35 with non-conformist musical tastes (:O)
Oh don't worry. Most of this happens in the sheer majority of musical genres. Pop is just somewhat ahead of the curve. There's very little to be nonconformnist about to be honest. Probably unless you listen to something like classical opera.
thats y i only listen to real music with no autotune and rap shit and its all made with real EMOTION and not for hte MONEY!! FUCK THIS GENERATION OF MUSIC!! thumbs up if u listen to REAL MUSIC
Yeah I'd like to know how much music (that shows up in places) is not done for the money or fame.
I don't find popular music today bad. Just really boring.
Yeah I'd like to know how much music (that shows up in places) is not done for the money or fame.
Alot of musicians write music without money being the main influence.
Well that's what happens when you make shitty music. Today there is one rule. Louder = Better
Well I guess this kind of explains why I don't listen to the radio anymore during long car trips.
Autotune might contribute to everything sounding the same.
say what you want about this generation's music because i as a consumer of this generation agree anyways i'm quite content with just having this playing on infinite loop all day
motown was made for exactly the same reason [editline]26th July 2012[/editline] music has a basic level of volume as in the music can't possibly be louder than say -4db. in the olden days due to the limitations of vinyl the music couldn't possibly get louder than like 10 or 5 db, but with the advent of digital music that limitation can be pushed up close to 0db which is the absolute loudest. they accomplish this by taking music and pumping it with a brickwall limiter which means that the music is louder more often.
-snip- Just kidding, I hear it now.
what's wrong with Jazz? It sorta does need life support since it's not made as much today as it was in the past or at least isn't as popular, whichever comes first
Don't worry, The Weather Channel and elevators around the world will keep Jazz alive for years to come.
I like my music re-mastered and louder, but I also don't care too much either since I mostly listen to music that almost lacks prodution, if any at all.
I like my music re-mastered and louder, but I also don't care too much either since I mostly listen to music that almost lacks prodution, if any at all.
so you wouldn't be up for Crass, The 24-bit Digital Remaster!?
You're like a LASER LIGHT, BURNING DOWN, BURNING DOWN ON MEEEEEEEE I hate that song so much, yet it's burned into my head. Dammit.
