Read the fucking op.
That was before OP updated. Way to make your own dumb assumption.
Anyone stupid enough to aim or even brandish a gun lookalike in front of cops is too stupid to live
This happens all the freaking time. Some idiot paints or removes the orange bit of their fake guns and ends up getting shot.
YOU DON'T FUCKING GUN DOWN A FUCKING PERSON THAT'S NOT FUCKING FIRING IN ANY FUCKING WAY. Could've tased him at the very most, Jesus fucking Christ.
I'm glad you're not a cop. And I sure as Hell hope you will never become one.
YOU DON'T FUCKING GUN DOWN A FUCKING PERSON THAT'S NOT FUCKING FIRING IN ANY FUCKING WAY. Could've tased him at the very most, Jesus fucking Christ.
An 8th grader points a gun at you, and you're like "Yeah I'll just tase him." By the time you're close enough to tase someone they could shoot you. Cops didn't know it was a pellet gun, as far as they knew he was an immediate threat to the school and everyone else around him. Honestly, I don't get how people can defend this kid. He brought a pellet gun that looks like a real gun to school, he didn't surrender, he was practically asking to be shot. It's really sad it ended up that way and it's worse that he died, but you can't say he did the right thing. And to be honest, I'm surprised they didn't shoot when they saw him aiming the gun at them. Usually at that point, most people fear for their lives and open fire, but they actually gave him a chance while he was pointing the weapon. If it was a real gun, he could have opened fire and killed or seriously wounded someone. God, these posts make me furious.
I'm just gonna copy and paste my post from the thread about the guy who got shot after robbing Wendy's:
It doesn't matter if the robber didn't intend to kill him, it doesn't even matter if he had a realistic looking toy gun - threaten someone with a weapon, be prepared for the consequences.
The officers had every right to do what they did if the kid refused to lower his 'weapon'. They were protecting themselves and the other students they thought were in danger. If you call in a bomb threat, even as a joke, you get arrested.
That was before OP updated. Way to make your own dumb assumption.
When I came into the thread there were 3 replies and the OP was as it is now. I refreshed and you post appeared. It was just that damn close I guess. Still, sorry.
To be honest, it looks a bit like the kid was suicidal by punching some kid in the nose and aim a realistic looking gun at a cop and refuse to put it down, only because he couldn't kill himself.
i can't sympathize. he first was stupid enough to bring a realistic looking pellet gun (that happens to look like a glock) to a school, and then aims it at cops? deserved it.
what a sociopathic thing to say. [editline]5th January 2012[/editline]
The kid aimed a gun at the police and they reacted as they should. It may have been a pellet gun, but how are they supposed to know that?
How about not murdering the kid?
This happens all the freaking time. Some idiot paints or removes the orange bit of their fake guns and ends up getting shot.
[del]I know airsoft fans don't like orange tips, but I really wish this was better enforced (lots of airsoft and pellet guns don't come with them). Yeah, it looks kind of ugly and out of place, but it could save your life.[/del] Scratch this, see next page.
How about not murdering the kid?
ffs if someone points a gun at you what do you do?
what a sociopathic thing to say. [editline]5th January 2012[/editline] How about not murdering the kid?
It wasn't murder, it was self-defense and defense of the other students. [editline]4th January 2012[/editline] My god, the same people who are cursing the cops actions would be blaming them entirely if they'd acted too cautiously and the kid was actually armed
If I brought my arsoft guns to school, I think I'd be shot down by at least 30 police officers and a SWAT team :v Can't feel bad for the kid. He brought an imitation pistol to school, with the orange tip off at that.
It wasn't murder, it was self-defense and defense of the other students.
There are numerous cases of 'stand-off's that don't instantly turn into full blown shoot out. You want to know why? It's because cops shouldn't start shooting instantly. And how was it self-defence? It was a fucking pellet gun.
There are numerous cases of 'stand-off's that don't instantly turn into full blown shoot out. You want to know why? They had every reason to shoot. And if you want to explain how they were supposed to know it was a pellet gun, then go ahead.

It was a fucking pellet gun.
If we trust the article, it said the kid had plenty of time to put the weapon down. So what if it was a pellet gun? If it looks like a real fucking gun, you treat it like it's a real gun. Again, if I call a bomb threat into a school, how the fuck would they know if I was serious or joking? They have to take EVERY threat seriously, and a kid who punches someone in the face, waves a gun around, and points it at cops IS an apparent threat.

It looked realistic: How do you tell the difference between this and a real gun when it's pointed at you?

Criminals can paint orange tips on real firearms with the intent that people will think they're toys. It's why people treat all guns as if they are real and loaded.
YOU DON'T FUCKING GUN DOWN A FUCKING PERSON THAT'S NOT FUCKING FIRING IN ANY FUCKING WAY. Could've tased him at the very most, Jesus fucking Christ.
Are you that dense? My first reaction to having someone point a gun at me would be drawing my gun and shooting first before I get killed, not waste time getting a taser out which by then you could be dead. It's the kids fault for doing it, it sucks I know but he brought something that looked like a real gun, it's not like they could tell it was fake.
I rarely see pellet guns with orange tips. Usually I see those on airsoft.
And how was it self-defence? It was a fucking pellet gun.
Please, tell me how a someone could tell the difference between the two when it's being pointed at them.
Everyone says "kids fault"... ...I say parents fault.
They could have at least shot to injure, I mean three cops all shooting is way over the top... he'd have gone down with a bullet to the knee.
i can't sympathize. he first was stupid enough to bring a realistic looking pellet gun (that happens to look like a glock) to a school, and then aims it at cops? deserved it.
lol cops in schools
I believe cops are trained to shoot center mass, and shoot to kill.

who in the fuck is 15 in eighth grade?
Must've been a stupid kid anyways, seeing as he is 15 and only in 8th grade. ninja above but whatever
They could have at least shot to injure, I mean three cops all shooting is way over the top... he'd have gone down with a bullet to the leg.
Compare the size of your legs to your torso, also compare the fact that your legs are going to be moving around a lot more then your torso. Limb shots aren't always safe either. Crushed bones (bullet hitting bones) or hitting a major artery could still kill you, not to mention you'd need to be an expert marksmen to even hit the damn thing. Unless they're running in a perfectly straight line, it's probably never going to happen.
who in the fuck is 15 in eighth grade?

Must've been a stupid kid anyways, seeing as he is 15 and only in 8th grade.
Some parents have their kids go to a or two year later, one of my friends is 2 years older then me and he's in my grade. Alternatively he could have failed a grade, or been held back a year for some other reason.
who in the fuck is 15 in eighth grade?
Are you saying nobody graduates high school at the age of 19?
