Rubber bullets please police.
While someone fires real bullets back, no chance.
at least the dumb posts of this thread aren't like the first one where someone seriously suggested shooting the gun out of the kid's hand
Rubber bullets please police.
I doubt the police will start walking around with a special "stupid kids" magazine in their pocket in case a dumb teenager comes by with a gun and starts threatening people with it.
The Glock 18 has a fire selector on the slide. What I said was that I've seen a lot of airsoft Glocks that have select fire on them, like the Glock 26, for example. "Actual Glocks don't have those, at least not for that model."
What a horribly fucked up situation.
Is there really any formal education for kids telling them not to do this?
This is him.
Don't feel any sympathy for him, he should've known better than that. Feel sorry for his family though, and all the police/students involved, must be traumatic.
Is there really any formal education for kids telling them not to do this?
An 8th grader shouldnt need "formal education" to know that bringing a replica gun to school and pointing it a police officers is a terrible idea.
nope, a report just got released saying it was a pellet gun.
Actually it is late. http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1152748/4 on the forth page two people posted the update. They OP didn't add it.
More information http://news.yahoo.com/police-student-killed-officers-had-pellet-gun-231453248.html To the people in this thread saying they didn't give him any other choice. At the time they thought it was a real gun, gave him a chance to surrender. Sounds like to me they went out of their way to work with the kid. In the end it was the kids own fault and no one elses. If you understand that then why continue to go on about it? Yeah it is terrible but the only person at fault is him. Also before people flip "they should know the difference between a real one and a fake one." Tell me could you identify between the two at a short distance? Not the gun used (Just a good example.) Obviously there is the stamping on the pictures, but how many people can read text like that at that range?
Point what looks like to be a real firearm at police or anyone and expect that threat to be met with deadly force. I don't give a shit if it isn't real, they didn't know that at the time and the threat was real. They're going home at the end of the day. They're not going to hesitate because it is a kid. Someone his age knows the difference between right and wrong and knew what he was doing. Walking in to a class room punching a kid in the face then pulling out a firearm isn't really a common thing kids do. It isn't some case of brutality or mistaken identity. It is a case of some kid who had the full intention of causing an scene and committing suicide by cop. On top of that if it was a real gun just because it is a kid does not mean it is any less deadly. A gun is a gun, it is a simple design that literally anyone with motor skills can use. If anything a kid is more dangerous with a firearm because they likely don't have the experience with one and judge it based on what they see in movies. Plus they're going to react completely out of emotion or the fight or flight mentality.
Meh, natural selection due to stupidity
Would you say that this boy is a Darwin Award contender?
Just making it worse for people who have pellet guns for legitimate reasons such as the airsoft games.
To those saying... "Why did they not use a taser?" I hate to use someone's death as an example. But this is why. http://www.odmp.org/officer/20866-deputy-sheriff-kurt-wyman Deadly force should, and always will be, met with equal force. Pointing a firearm (or in this case an assumed firearm) at someone tells that person you intend to use that weapon against them. That is a direct threat to life. Sad it had to end this way, but the kid had a choice. He obviously decided the least intelligent of them.
Why did it take so long for them to release that it was a pellet gun? After they shot the kid didn't anyone think to pick up the gun and pull out the mag?
Why did it take so long for them to release that it was a pellet gun? After they shot the kid didn't anyone think to pick up the gun and pull out the mag?
Because paperwork.
Lol bet America is going to put a new law on pellet guns now
Speak for yourself. Lol you live in GB and you have the balls to make that statement.
He should have known better. While it's not good that he is dead, he did deserve it.
You're saying two different things here.
additional article http://news.yahoo.com/texas-school-shooting-many-questions-loom-234525229.html
Rodriguez said the preliminary autopsy report showed the boy was shot twice in the torso. Family members initially thought he was shot in the back of the head, but that wound turned out to be a cut from a fall.
that's a weird thing to confuse
I'm sorry that the kid had to lose his life for his stupidity, but I'm even more sorry for the cop who now has to live with having shot a teen who turned out to be unarmed.
