That's easy to say when you're a billionaire.
And then you donate most of it to charity :v:
A billion dollars isn't cool. Know what's cool? A trillion dollars.
I will be fine with 2-3 million dollars. That way I know I can safely live off the secure interest of around $200,000 a year.
Sorry about the OP guys, Its my fault. Should had replaced with a better article.
Whoever said money can't buy you happiness was not spending it right.
If I EVENTUALLY make at least $100,000 a year I'll probably be fine with that. I'm a cheap bastard, and $100,000 a year for one person is plenty for me.
"being a billionaire is overrated" -billionaire
"being a billionaire is overrated" -billionaire
I don't see your point. Are you saying that someone who has NEVER been a billionaire would be qualified to make that statement, but yet someone who IS a billionaire isn't qualified to give an opinion like that?
For some people, money may be the key to happiness, but not for everyone as was said
Well, considering if you want to live in the modern world, money is your key to everything. Except for Africa, like Shiftyze said.
You can have so much free time and so much more opportunities to meet new people who are interesting if you're rich. So many people at school or in certain parts of the country are boring and not interested in talking to new people. But everyone wants to talk to you if you're rich, it's just human nature that we want to deny.
If I had to choose between earning enough money to survive in a one-room apartment while making indie games or earn millions on some boring job, I'd pick the first without thinking.
Money can't buy happiness. But it can buy a skidoo. And how many unhappy people have you seen on skidoos?
If I had to choose between earning enough money to survive in a one-room apartment while making indie games or earn millions on some boring job, I'd pick the first without thinking.
Wouldn't you rather take the boring job for a few years, get filthy rich, then make indie games? I mean, fuck, i don't even want to be rich, i just want to have a house that is paid off, and a semi-nice car. Maybe a nice nissan. As far as it goes with those people who want to talk to you because you are rich, i'd rather not be around those types of people.

If I had to live poor but I got to do what I love most, I'd be much MUCH more happy, than being rich and not getting to do what I love most.
There's a whole lot of accusations in this thread. Read the article for fuck's sake. IF you read the first few sentences, the article says that in order to keep up they wrote in shorthand. IF you read the article then you'll have all of your terrible posts answered and wow realize that he wasn't saying what the OP's awful title suggests.
Don't be a millionaire, slave for one like a good lad instead!
Microsoft treats their employees pretty well actually
Bill Gates has a lot of money.
And he's giving pretty much all of it to Charity. Being rich is a very good way to be happy because you don't have to worry about your future, but being a billionaire is just too much - you can't use all of that money and assuming you can, it would only be for very shitty, useless over-expensive crap rich people buy to show they're, well, rich.
I think his point is that loadsaemone isn't happiness, but doing what you love while earning more than enough to sustain your lifestyle is.
its why I love Bill Gates, if I had that mans amount of money I'd probably spread it like that man.
The average American citizen only need 1 million dollars(put inflation into it) over the course of their ENTIRE LIFE to live comfortably.
The average American citizen only need 1 million dollars(put inflation into it) over the course of their ENTIRE LIFE to live comfortably.
Well yeah but everyone wants money because it's both the most damaging and most addictive substance on Earth.
Well yeah but everyone wants money because it's both the most damaging and most addictive substance on Earth.
And thats probably why Bill is warning people not to do it? Its like former drug addicts trying to stop teenagers from doing drugs.
Its funny because everyone is ignoring the fact that he was comparing being a billionaire to being a millionaire. He wasn't comparing being rich vs being poor.
It appears that many of you didn't read the article. He didn't say that being a billionaire is the same as not having any money at all. He said that once you get to a certain point, money becomes meaningless, and having more won't make you feel better. He set that point at a couple million dollars, not nothing.
Also it didn't really seem like he was discouraging people at all, he was simply stating it isn't really as gigantic of a deal as people try to make it. He even said it was good to have aspirations.
Why do some of the student questions sound like caveman-speak?
Good god, you're right.
Student question. What advice to someone like me to become someone like you? Student: Personal computer then Internet now smartphone. What future?
today is gates' birthday :buddy:
don't care about being a billionaire anyways, all I care is getting my dream job/career and keeping it.
Bill Gates is such a cool dude. I have no idea why people don't like him.
Bill Gates is such a cool dude. I have no idea why people don't like him.
While (on the other hand) they idolize a grade-A attentionwhoring douchenozzle. Fuck this world, when is the next shuttle to moon going?
I think his point is that loadsaemone isn't happiness, but doing what you love while earning more than enough to sustain your lifestyle is.
No, I'm pretty sure having loads of money would make me happy. All the things that get me sad/angry are caused by lack of money. Literally all of the things. Being homeless, money. Not able to have my brothers tumor removed, Money (or no national healthcare).
