So can you tell me a good reason that we should kick people out rather than make it easier to become a legal citizen? Every argument in the thread can be countered with "how bout we just make them citizens?". They'd pay taxes, they'd be entitled to a living wage, they'd pay social security and the works; the only arguments against this solution are people who think that the economy is some sort of magical system that has a finite number of jobs, inwhich the number never can increase even through natural progression of supply/demand. Or did everyone forget the whole "if there's a higher demand for a product, there will eventually be a higher supply, the higher supply will be met via increased job opportunities.
Because the economy doesn't grow overnight. While not having a finite number of jobs makes it a great economic system because it can expand and contract, it takes a WHILE for the kind of economic change you're talking about to happen. In the mean time, there is more strain and a still weak economy.
Also, the full effects of the ACA haven't even hit yet. Once the employer mandates and such kick in, you're going to see the economy go down again as the vast majority of jobs will be part time. In fact, the trend has been going that way for quite a few months already.
As if that isn't enough, what the fuck kind of logic do people have to use (not saying you directly, don't take it that way) to say "Income inequality is HORRIBLE in the U.S.!", then turn around and want to bring in people who most likely won't be making much money, therefore making income inequality worse? It's like complaining about a headache, but continuing to hit yourself in the head....
But I think the main point you are missing is that the vast majority people don't want to shut down immigration completely. I don't know where you are hearing this, but it is a flat out lie. Nobody has a problem with legal immigrants or legal immigration. People don't like ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. If you are coming here illegally, you should NOT be allowed to stay. We do need to fix our immigration system, but that's NOT an excuse to break our laws, and should NEVER grant you immunity from the consequences of breaking our laws.
Then lets deport all of the agriculture workers, I sincerely hope you enjoy your significantly higher food prices.
"Nah man, raising a wage doesn't affect product prices that much. Maybe an extra $0.10 per big mac..." I mean, that's always the response people use when people point out that a minimum wage increase would increase the prices of products.
So which one is it? Does a living wage make products unaffordable or not?
OR.. or... we can stop listening to the news that's specifically designed to breed tension between the races, realize that the only reason we're in a clusterfuck is because we let ourselves get that way, because it was easier to keep up with the kardashians than it was to keep up with the lies the politicians were saying, and take care of our fellow man.
Or, or! Maybe, we can attempt to cut our losses with trying to babysit citizens that aren't even ours and focus on our own for once. You know, give some help to the people who actually contribute to the community and nation.
Can someone explain why some parts of the border is tight like the Berlin wall and some just a simple fence?

Money going to different states + some places have so much desert it's not really well traveled even to illegally immigrate.
Exactly. No Mexican illegal and/or Cartel member is gonna wanna cross the Sahara just to get into Utah or Texas or some shit.

A few months? Full time positions in retail have been shrinking long before Obama even came into office because it's more expensive for a company to retain a full time employee than a part time regardless of which benefits they receive. For the vast majority if employers, the healthcare mandate either isn't going to affect them at all because they already offer health insurance to full time employees, or it's going to be a pebble on top of the mountain of benefits they already provide.
I looked at the border crossing between New York and Ontario once and it's just a river, a rather thin one at some spots. If I ever wanted to break into Canada I could just go for a swim and have my friend from Toronto meet me on the other side.
not offended
but it's a nice way to lump osama in with "that lot" that some of your politicians are shitting their pants at
this is just my opinion from what i can see from the article and the wording etc. don't get mad
like it's an effective way for those who are influenced easily by articles like this to assume that all immigrants are terrorists
(talking about the article and the wording ok, not the actual issues)
The article is fine, you're just being an idiot. I hate using demeaning words but literally everything about your posts in this thread are pants on head retarded arguments/accusations.
What was the point of anything you've posted thus far?
Sounds like the perfect environment to turn to crime in desperation.
.
Undocumented immigrants are extremely unlikely to commit crime. Far below what their education level and income would otherwise suggest. Crime brings cops, which may get them deported. Basically everything you need to know about a undocumented immigrants is that their life revolves around avoiding cops at all costs.
Second generation immigrants are, with a statistically significant difference, more likely to commit crime, but only by a small amount and they are Americans at that point anyhow, so irrelevant.
don't let them (assuming they're not legal) go into public school in the first place
Then you have a bunch of uneducated poor people roaming about.
Surely better to educate and integrate?
Agreed with O’Keefe. We need to secure the border so people like him can't come in.
