N&B was a pretty decent game but JonTron really was right when he said that it should've been called Tip-Tup Nuts and Bolts
Jontron thread is in another direction, guys.
Who are you even talking to?
Last time we got a Rare game that wasn't Kinect it was Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. Dunno if people should be excited or dreading.
Iono I kinda liked Nuts and Bolts when I played it. But I'm also not exactly a Banjo Kazooie fan(Honestly have little to no interest in it) and I only ever derped around in sandbox mode with basically everything unlocked.
as a fan since DKC, rare is dead to me.
I actually feel slightly sorry for Rare at the moment, since they're basically nostalgia central. People don't want them to make anything new, they just want them to make sequels of previous games as proven by what people are saying in this thread.
i would be fine with them making any quality games, they showed that they could do that still with viva pinata and N&B, but instead they chose to just keep on making shitty kinect game after shitty kinect game. nothing good can (or ever has) come out of anything kinect-related, and they only have themselves to blame for their downfall over the years. maybe kinect sports rivals being a bust was a wake-up call for them, but i doubt it.
None of the old guard are left in Rare unfortunately. And I don't really blame them, who would want to work on Kinect games that no one plays forever?
They can still take a Rare IP and give it to another studio, like they did with Killer Instinct. Lately Microsoft has been announcing more original titles and comebacks of old IPs for Xbox One, I really hope this new direction can lead to some good games.
its a testament to rare though that they were told no platformers, yet still managed to make a great game. was n&b a true banzo kazooie game? no. but it kept the same kind of atmosphere and humor imo, and thats why I think it still deserves the b&k name
How many people still originally work for Rare? Like the guys who worked on Goldeneye and Donkey Kong? Rare (and any other game dev) means nothing if the developers with the artistic vision and integrity aren't there. Otherwise, they're just a studio that a megacorp like Microsoft would use as an asset instead of something that can organically produce a work of love.

I wish we got another Banjo and Kazooie game - but I struggle to think what it would be? Are there any similar games that have come out in the past few years which are of any comparison? I can't imagine that they'd make a BK game like it was on the 64 in todays market.

I loved Rare and there games. I loved Donkey Kong 64, Banjo&Tooie and of course conkers bad fur day. Shame that they got fucked so bad.
I doubt many of the old guys are there anymore, and if they're not, then, well, Rare means nothing. A bunch of guys who call themselves Rare, but they aren't Rare. The only real value left in them is the IP that comes with them, in which case tear it from the husk and give it to a better studio. Hell, form a new studio comprised of the old guys if you want, but Rare in and of itself ain't shit.
Wasn't there a former RARE employee who did an interview explaining that it was originally going to be a traditional B&K platformer but Microsoft Executives told them that no one plays platformers anymore and forced the game into a different direction?
[t]https://warosu.org/data/vr/img/0015/61/1398413773156.png[/t]
Viva pinata 3, please.

Hat in time is very meh in terms of gameplay to me. Doesn't feel like an old school collectathon like banjo
I don't really get the hate. I can name one series that's a (2D) platforming series but has had major spinoffs from golf, pinball, breakout, stacker, to racing. Kirby. And I've played them all. They were great. I haven't played N&B, but from what I seen, it's just a Banjo game, but with racing/platforming.

Kirby fans on the other hand haven't exactly been shorted on games.

Infact, it wasn't until the sixth game that another platformer came out. Or am I missing the point.
Reggie on twitter said that he is going to one up the ice challenge.
Or am I missing the point.
There was a huge period of time between Banjo Tooie and N&B. Like 8-10 years.
wasn't nuts and bolts that car game? it was fun
wasn't nuts and bolts that car game? it was fun
It was, but the problem was that it had the Banjo-Kazooie name on it, which is what people didn't like.
There was a huge period of time between Banjo Tooie and N&B. Like 8-10 years.
Sorry yeah, this here was my point.
Rare should of stayed with Nintendo making Bango kazooie Conkers bad fur day and new donkey kong games. Now they've screwed themselves over be joining Microsoft years ago.
Kameo 2 please
