You know, I wish they were going to make it based off the canceled ride and the story that Frozen was inspired from. At least then it'd be more cultural.
Disney is monetizing the absolute SHIT out of this movie.
please have this song play through the ride.
I'm a fan of Betraying the Martyrs and when they played that live, people loved it. I love it when metalcore bands do covers of silly stuff, August Burns Red doing Hit Me Baby, One More Time, etc. etc., loads of fun. I've never actually seen Frozen or been to Disneyland/world/ville/shire. But that cover is great.
Wouldn't you guys rather ride Elsa instead? Oh wait, the ride's Frozen solid during winter
Anna thankyouverymuch
i've never been to a disneyworld/land
Only been to the one in Paris, and they didn't have the ride based on a Norwegian high seas adventure :(
The description Alexak gives does not do justice. The ride is essentially the same but it's redesigned to look like tests being run inside a computer/virtual simulation. It has a very TRON Legacy feel with backdrops that light up as you move through them and things that get 'derezzed' or updated in real time. The soundtrack is really cool now and the theming is more clean, which ultimately fits the idea of EPCOT being a showcase for the future. Plus there's an interesting rerideability factor in that you get to design your own car and at the end you get results for each test, so people interested in knowing what makes a car do this and that and actually witness their designs being put to the test get an added factor.
You're right, I didn't mention that they added a whole interactive section at the beginning where you get to customize your vehicle, but for me it honestly adds very little to the experience. The ride itself is the same every time regardless of the vehicle you created before you got on, and therefore it just feels like a flashy facade. I guess it simply didn't come together for me. Sure, the actual track and sequences are the same as they were before, but it just felt bland.

Let's be real for a second here: I loved the ride, I rode it twice when I first went to WDW, but it's a long buildup to an awesome 30-second loop. I liked the buildup, but then again, I only rode it two times, and it didn't take long for me to reconsider my opinion on the ride. At one point, that scene with the heat and cold rooms is gonna get boring, especially since nothing on the ride has the same amount of speed and thrill as the last loop. The thing about Test Track was that if you just blasted through the line, you missed 80% of the stuff they were teaching about how cars are made. Sure, the narration repeated some stuff for you, but if you don't know shit about cars (like I didn't back when I visited) you were going to be lost as fuck, and even then they didn't explain much. Plus, Test Track was focused on car-building and testing in the 90's, so it got real dated real fast. (did you know Test Track's opening had to be pushed back because the ride was too state of the art to run back in the mid-90's? one of the reasons for the constant stops and all) This new theme aims to fix some of those problems. Originally, all EPCOT rides used the present to talk about the future- with World of Motion, Test Track's predecessor, showing you the history of transportation before showing you the transportation of the future. It's no longer just about testing, but about cars as a whole. Sure, blast through the line, you'll still miss a lot. But by having the theme change from 'cars being tested' to 'cars of the future', there's a whole lot more of edutainment in the ride in the form of the interactive element: 'what do you think the car of the future should look like? design it here, and learn why your design would or wouldn't work'. For me, that works far more than 'you see the difference when we use and don't use the ABS locks?' (it's been seven years since i rode that thing and i still don't know what an ABS lock is) Plus, it at least tries to get you invested in the buildup by having your score on each test being displayed after said test. To those who are lost in this conversation, see this informational video regarding the new version of Test Track.
It's neat and all they're pandering to the fans and what not, but doesn't this kind of break the theme of epcot? I mean I may be wrong here but I remember Epcot's main focus being multiculturalism/the whole word, I honestly don't remember seeing too much pure disney stuff there, I think maybe a few of the mascots at most.

It's a bad tie-in is what I'm saying.
