Standoff between Royal Navy ship 'HMS Sabre' and Spanish Survey ship 'Ramon Margalef' in British Gib
The Ramon Margalef, a 164ft oceanographic survey ship entered British Gibraltar Territorial Waters around 5pm on Monday and was still there Tuesday afternoon despite repeated orders by British Royal Navy patrol boat HMS Sabre to leave.
"We are in the unpleasant situation of a stand-off," a source from Gibraltar's authorities told the Daily Telegraph. "This is an incursion of the worst kind and the most serious incident since August."
According to radio exchanges overheard by a local ship enthusiast onshore, the captain of the Spanish vessel insisted he was carrying out survey work with the permission of the Spanish government.
"I understand that it has got quite heated. The Royal Navy patrol boat is far smaller than the Spanish vessel but it is ramming the probes as the Spanish try and carry out their survey," said one senior source.
The Gibraltar government said it has informed London of the incident and expected a formal protest to Madrid to follow.
Silly Spaniards, Britannia rules the waves.
Fire a warning shot of tea and crumpets.
Get a pair of tugs and push the bastard home.
Last time small British ships took on much larger Spanish ones, it didn't go well for the Spanish
Rule of Spanish/Argentinian politics:
If the economy is tanking yet again, draw attention to the nearest British settlement instead!

They'd rack up a fair bit of OE though. The rest of the EU would be knocking on their front door within a month.

brb.
I'd like to see the Gibraltar coast guard do as the Japanese and just blast the boats away with water cannons if they fail to heed to warnings.
Gibraltar should be spanish and the falklands should be argentinian.
