Don't worry, you can essentially boil Eve down to one simple question:
"How can I increase my tear collecting efficiency?"
All that time wasted.
Not really. I bet he had a bunch of fun working his way to that, part of the game is losing everything and starting again. I've only just gotten into EVE, but it's really fun, and can be played casually (which is great for a student like me), so I can tuck into a few hours gameplay every other day.
Scout, your posts are curiously enthralling.
Thank you. I may post more stories later, if I can remember any specific ones :v:
Thankfully that one I had picture support since I documented it for a FP post that long ago. That was only posted in the EVE thread, though.

For some people, sure. I personally could spend many hours simply staring at market graphs and making money. It's very entrancing.

You know, you're a great fucking vile cunt.
My hats off to you, as a fellow vile cunt, though I was mainly a corp infil(getting info from bigger alliances to sell, draining their loot, etc), I bloody love when shit like this happens, I used to have quite a few pictures like that but sadly the hdd with them died, would have loved to add more to this wonderous thread.

And hell, a discussion about honorless internet jerks isn't finished before Paul Clavet :v:

I wouldn't be able to scam some poor sod. I'd feel too bad about it. Seriously, I'd feel like shit knowing I'd just gone and fucked someone over and was the reason they'd be unable to play for another month.
Obviously, that's only to a certain extent. I don't mind stealing from the rich, but stealing from the needy just feels... wrong.
The best scam story in the history of ever.
You have made my week scout, can you teach me a thing or two when I get back to eve? :v:

I imagine that you'd have to learn the first rule of Eve in a rather depressing fashion.
Stories like Scouts is pretty much why I started playing Eve, and now I'm in a shit corp that never gets any fights :smithicide:

I did corp infil with Treia too. Problem is that the quick leaves and rejoins started piling up real quick and it became obvious. First thing anybody checks when recruiting. And if they don't check that they're probably too poor and stupid to be worth stealing from. It was real successful while it lasted though. After I finished my bout with (direct) corp infiltration I threw Treia into my new corporation, as by this time she had graduated into quite a combat character with positive sec status (my main was negative :v: )
I would later revisit the concept as an awoxer with my third account. Three corps in one night, more than a billion between 'em. That's a good story too, but it's not quite the kind of thing you can narrate. Clap clap for the deed, but it's not gripping.

I'm sorry, I'm currently unsubbed. I do not have the time to earn ISK to pay for my sub/play regularly, and I don't have the money to pay for my gametime with $$$.
While we're still on the topic of EVE stories, can anyone post the one where the goonsquad takes down a whole corp? I think that was the story, I didnt get much into it but I feel the need to read the whole thing now.
The story that got me into EVE, oh yes. It was not the goons. PC Gamer published it... and so drew in a dozen more like me. This is what google sent me to.

SHOOT BLUES GIVE NO FUCKS
seriously just kill them if you want to
Had no idea what was going on in those Paul Clavet videos. Who is he, anyway? A renowned troll of the EVE Universe?

Nah, I didn't go for low ones like that, I'd just jerktengu them, some of my alliance infils were let's say, in the top 10 alliances, and some of them lasted almost a year :v:, turned the tide of nullsec battles though, of course this was with the help of like ten other spies including the guy that teached me everything(Pretty much name a big change in nullsec and he most likely had a finger in it)

I would shoot them but it's Fweddit, the only reason I don't get fights is because there's only ever like 8 folk on when I'm on and they're all busy plexing like space jews.
Had no idea what was going on in those Paul Clavet videos. Who is he, anyway? A renowned troll of the EVE Universe?
To explain what he does I need to explain some basics of how loot on corpses work in eve, it's not like wow where people can't take your loot, here, they can, but if they do you can legally shoot them. And here is the trick, if they shoot at you, you're now allowed to defend yourself.
What Paul Clavet does is use that to his advantage, pretty much he steals some loot from a carebear(Pretty much someone who only does pve, whose ship isn't fitted for pvp), wait for them to shoot you, then run away and come back in the jerktengu and kills them and takes the loot (and tears) from their dead ship.
EVE is literally one of the worst places for griefing to happen.
So someone had his son die in a truck accident, the dad who was a major EVE player renamed his station after his son. Some dicks on /vg/ made a thread on how they went right up to him while he was mining in space and re-enacted the sons death. They had one of them as an smaller ship being the son all the while shouting "daddy help me dad" while the other player was the truck using a larger ship, the guy spewed in pure rage and later they were banned when he had contacted a GM
So Paul has a shitty ship just for baiting asshole PvE'ers into shooting him, then he flies off to the station and docks into his pimped-out PvP ship to kick ass?

Fweddit aren't even gonna exist any more after today's FW fix, all the plexers will leave and there's going to be like 1 active guy left actually doing FW properly
So Paul has a shitty ship just for baiting asshole PvE'ers into shooting him, then he flies off to the station and docks into his pimped-out PvP ship to kick ass?
Yep

Pretty much, though he doesn't fly to a station, he has an orca(mining hub ship, can store other ships) on another account that acts like a portable basic station where he can switch.

Yeah, it was terrible and they deserved that ban, but holy shit. That is some humor. It's morbid for sure, but it's so out there... you can't help but laugh at it.
EDIT:
Well okay I found it morbidly funny :(
The whole thing with that dad's son sucks, but almost everyone knows how relentless the internet is.

Eve is lawless as fuck dude, this shit will happen a million times, and no one can stop it from happening but that's the beauty of Eve, you're just given a system with a few controls and you're told to run rampant.
Isn't it such a chore to slog up to anything that's fun and worth playing? I remember I was at EVE for a solid two months (casual playing, mind you) yet I was constantly out-gunned and out-matched in fights.
All I wanted was to PvP and enjoy myself, but I got my ass handed to me without fail every time. Mining got boring after a while, as it didn't rake in enough cash, courier missions were mind-numbing.
Where was I going wrong?

frigate
swarm
frigate swarm
alternatively: destroyers
Or just don't shoot people who want to shoot back. That's fun too.

Did you check fits for ships?
And if you choose a bad ship to PvP in or are just inexperienced then you will get your arse pummeled senseless.
You can't just train up to a certain level and go "Right time to win fights!" You just need a lot of experience and know what ships to avoid fighting and how to engage and shit. For example turning on your MWD and flying directly at a ship is like daring a rapist to rape you as you present your rectum to them.
Funny as fuck thread on the eve forums - https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=165647
Basically the guy who lost the ship trying to claim he got reimbursed for it in an interview.

Eve is pretty much the opposite of grinding. You need to expect to get smashed the first few times you play just because it's complicated to learn, actually winning is based on skills rather than skills (yeah skills play a small part, but it's not like in other mmos where skills are everything).
You should have joined a corp like rvb that teach you how to fight with other new players, then you have a lot more fun because you're actually fighting people on a similar skill level to you and not super powerful people in huge gangs.

Join RvB, they're two alliances that are at constant war with each other that should let you get in a load of PVP experience. Failing that do as has been said, join up with a low/nullsec alliance and go be tackle.

The problem with RvB is that it's not even close to an actual fight, there's no ECM allowed and from what I remember a few other silly constraints on what can and can't be done in fights.
Although on the other hand it's funny as fuck when your FC uses a Stabber navy Issue to slam an enemy battleships off the undock by about 50km and everyone pummels the fuck out of it.
I got on my first Megathron Killmail that way.

If I still played I'd try and get like 50 people in that and just kill everyone who is not us :v:
eve online, the job you have to pay to have
and doesn't have any of the benefits of a real job
and you have a good chance at getting your shit stolen if you're anywhere above piss poor

From memory the only rules are no midslot ecm and no podding unless fighting 3rd party war targets, bit annoying but at least it still gives a good starting point for pvp skills
