[QUOTE=JaegerMonster;34070114]To be honest, the term "african american" is far more assuming and ignorant than just "black".[/QUOTE] Funny story of that, my dad worked with a guy born and raised in South Africa but moved to the states when he was 17 or so and always laughed when the black firefighters would get mad at a debate or social issue in which they were referred to as blacks and not African Americans; so the guy turns to them and says, "You guys are black, not African Americans; I'm actually the only African American here." It shut the debate up pretty quick. The point he was making was that just because you have "X Heritage/Race" doesn't make "X Heritage/Race American" That'd be like me saying I'm an Irish American when there's been three or four generations since my family arrived to America.
