No we don't have to wait because the 7.8 final is already leaked. I'm running the 7.8 RTM build on my Focus and really the only improvement is the new start screen.
Well Nokia devices get more benefit iirc
I've been really pleased with my Lumia 800. I haven't had a single problem with it yet. Now I'm just waiting for the 7.8 update for it.
Oh man...that phone is awesome looking. I'd love to have that as my first smartphone.
What does a windows phone has to offer? Does it have a app market like android?
looks nice. My Droid X is still working almost perfectly though
What does a windows phone has to offer? Does it have a app market like android?
Yes.
What does a windows phone has to offer? The apps are also compatible with Windows 8 for the desktop (they use the same store), which is smart because it motivates developers by giving them a larger market.
Well you know seeing as Windows 8 had a lengthy beta stage and apple only put the app store in later when the 1st gen was still out I can see why
It's always exciting to get a new phone. I've always wanted to try one of the Windows phones. ATM I just have an HTC Evo 4g, it's about 2-3 years old.

WP has got some apps, though, it's not lagging that far behind when it comes to that anymore. Quality is also generally higher than that of Android's, but iOS still has the upper hand here.
WP has the benefit of making it easy for developers to deploy apps across all the Windows platforms. The new VS and Blend is some powerful shit.
If I need a new phone, I might get a Lumia, they look pretty good.
Then they come out with WP9, and you can't upgrade your device to it, new apps get released that are compiled against the newer API and you can't use them. If you're willing to keep switching phones in order to use your apps, go for this phone.
I want to switch carriers to someone like T-Mobile or AT&T since verizon blows in my area but fucking ETFs and non-committal phone prices ruin it [editline]5th December 2012[/editline]
Then they come out with WP9, and you can't upgrade your device to it, new apps get released that are compiled against the newer API and you can't use them.
Well Nokia devices get more benefit iirc
No they really don't. You clearly don't understand how little leeway OEMs get with the OS. Nokia only gets slightly more with stuff like being able to add in accent themes, big deal. I have all of Nokia's additions on my ROM(since it's just a ported Lumia 800 ROM), it's the same benefit Nokia users have always had. Sorry but it really sounds like you're trying to tell yourself Lumia buyers didn't get screwed with regards to software support.
angry birds is like $3 isn't it
Not sure what that has to do with my post, but isn't it ad-supported on every platform nowadays?
waiting for 7.8 for my Lumia 800, the Nokia Windows phones are the only ones i've liked so far and i've had several HTCs and Samsungs with 7.5 on them. Phone geeks will always argue over the merits of each operating system, but i like the much more streamlined and optimised feel of WP7/8 than i do android. But they won't go claiming that they're iPhone killers because they're not and never will be

But as a developer, you can still almost deploy the same code base to both Windows 8/RT and Windows 8 Phone. The interface might need to be changed a bit since RT guarantees 1366x768 resolution.
This is my next phone. My current Windows Phone has been good to me for these two years but it's time for an upgrade. It is a good day to be a MS fanboi :v:

It's better than most Android phones, though I must say I had expected more. Still, it's not gonna make me not want to buy a new device when that time comes.

If Microsoft delayed 7.8 until 2016 you wouldn't say you got seven years of support. Here's how it can be put. Anyone who bought a Lumia device gets ONE major update, that's it, and it's nothing compared to the real update to the OS which is WP8. The update to WP7 ones update involves different tile sizes, and removing the gutter between tiles and the app list, that's it honestly. I feel absolutely awful for people who bought a Lumia 900 here in Canada on a three year term, expecting an update to WP8, then getting screwed big time.
clearly smart is not a part of your vocabulary
Elaborate, they literally all do look the same. I still got the midget phone HTC Wildfire. Still does it's job because all I ever do on it is use steam mobile and play some stick man cliff diving game for when I'm on the shitter.
Say, how much are the 610, 800 and 900 Lumia there in the US? (with and without carrier please) And I think theres a 720 or something, which there isn't here in Portugal apparently...

Fell to .79eurocents though.
Say, how much are the 610, 800 and 900 Lumia there in the US? The 620, 810+820+plusonemore (which are all the same device I think in the different shells for different carriers) and 920 are wp8 devices and as such a much better choice right now. Also why are you calling me out to tell you how a phone can be changed? Again, all I said was that they look the same. Don't need you to steal my ideas and patent them!
