$400? Calling it now this is gonna be the next Note 7.
What, It's going to be a phone?
They do have markers. [t]http://ps4daily.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/ps4-random-disc-eject-640x470.jpg[/t]
That's just horrible design
Why not call it PS4K?
4K* *note that it isn't running natively at 4K but they use special upscaling techniques to make it appear it does Not suprising considering the price but alot of people are gonna fall for it and I can see alot of people going like "lol my PS4 pro plays 4K for only 400 euros" when that is just not really true.

Interlacing in 2016 doesn't sound very good.
What, It's going to be a phone?
I'd be down for a new Xperia Play
I see a pretty obvious problem here: Taking the 4.2TFLOPS figure at face value, this console is underpowered for 4K. It's 2.3x as powerful as a 1.84TFLOPS base model, while rendering at 3840x2160 requires four times as much power as rendering at 1920x1080. So a game running at 60FPS at 1080p on the base model will have to drop to 30FPS to run at 4K on the Pro model. If they want to keep 60FPS, they'll be limited to about 1440p (2560x1440). Now, 1440p at least upscales well to 2160p (it's literally like scaling 720p to 1080p), but still, this seems weak. A decent value, 30% more cost for 130% more power, but I don't see many games being able to do much with it. It also makes me strongly suspect that PSVR will require a Pro. Both the Oculus and Vive list a GeForce 970 as their minimum requirements, and that's 3.5TFLOPS (the R9 290 is the minimum on the AMD side, which is 4.8TFLOPS, but it's also the weakest 3TFLOPS+ card of that generation with 4GB of VRAM, which I'd bet is why it was used).
It's also techniques that sound a lot like interlacing. Interlacing in 2016 doesn't sound very good.
Interlacing done right can work wonders for pulling resolution out of thin air with minimal performance loss. But holy shit you need to get it right. And you need to keep that frame time down. A fairly recent DF Retro video looked at Ridge Racer on the early PS2 (I think?), it used interlaced rendering but the alternation wasn't aligned correctly and it just became a jagged hell. Despite looking otherwise quite good.
4k[sp] at 12fps [/sp]
That's bonkers to me that they didn't make it a UHD bluray player. That would have made it a much better buy.
What, It's going to be a phone?
They'll explode?
i like how they didnt mention at all during the stream that if you have a screen below 4k it wont give any framerate improvements. Only the fact that it will upgrade some ps4 games to 4k
Was just about to say, what's the point of 4k if you're still fucking playing at 30FPS
So we are not getting true 4k? I always doubted it as we barely even get 1080/60p as is
So we are not getting true 4k? I always doubted it as we barely even get 1080/60p as is
As always, it depends on the developer. The console can render and output 4K/60fps.
That's bonkers to me that they didn't make it a UHD bluray player. That would have made it a much better buy.
Probably because sony has their "ULTRA" 4k streaming service, along with Playstation Video, where you can buy 4k titles to stream. I expect physical media to keep slowly fading away in favor of streaming. I have a 65" Sony Bravia X850C android tv and it upscales anything that's not potato quality to 4k or near 4k resolutions very, very well. It may not be the exact same as native 4k, but it's pretty close, and that will be enough for most people.
I wonder why only the new xbox one S gets HDR when sony can update the original PS4 with HDR support?
I wonder why only the new xbox one S gets HDR when sony can update the original PS4 with HDR support?
If I were to take a wild guess, it could have something to do with some hardware limitation, e.g. the X1 not having a HDMI port cool enough to do HDR.
breaking news sony is retarded
breaking news sony is retarded
Funny how one of the big selling points for PS2 was that it was a cheap DVD player and now they let Xbox S be the most affordable 4K blu-ray player around.
breaking news sony is retarded
well, there goes my reason to buy one
breaking news sony is retarded
Greatness Awaits!
breaking news sony is retarded
:why:
can't we have picture of game of ps4/ps4neo
So there's no reason to get this if my tv is 1080p?
If they allow you to change video options, then you should be able to opt for high quality 1080p @ 60fps instead of 30fps at 4k
p sure it was already confirmed that the scorpio is 70% more powerful than this pro. Dunno if sony has anything else up their sleeves.
p sure it was already confirmed that the scorpio is 70% more powerful than this pro. Dunno if sony has anything else up their sleeves.
The 4.2TF thing is officially confirmed, and the fact that it's only two months away means they're probably already finalised and mass producing it.
breaking news sony is retarded
how do you fuck this up
Whats the fucking point in an upgraded console then?
jesus you need a magnifying glass to spot that
Or if you've owned a Playstation since the PS2 days in vertical top is power and bottom is eject. Likewise sitting horizontal power is to the right and eject is to the left. Or you know, Green is Power, Blue is Eject.
