Or you could realize there's a thing called the controller.
This power button horseshit is the most non-starter crap I've ever seen since most functions are literally on the playstation button and a menu away now.

w-whoa, a controller? I was playing everything wrong then, I've been using electrotelekinetic brain patterns to play my games

I mean just cause it's on the controller doesn't make it any less dumb for them to have shitty labels on the console. Not saying the console sucks because of that, I just mean the little labels are crappy.

To play the game in 4K, obviously

Which is probably just upscaled 1440p or something, or it dynamically switches from 1080p/1440p to 4K depending on the scene. I read that in an article, but I'm not sure was it ME or some other game. At the end, it's not true 4K, just like 1080p often wasn't.
I have 18 TFLOPS in my PC (SLI 1080s) and Mankind Divided still runs like ass in 4k, how's this thing going to do it?
The whole reason I bought a PS3 was to play blu-rays, I was holding out to get this thing to play 4k discs. It's not like I can't stream them, but maybe I just want to own a physical copy of a thing and know I'll be able to watch a movie without an internet connection. XboneS it is then.
So the "Pro" is more like the Xbox One S as opposed to the Scorpio?
So the "Pro" is more like the Xbox One S as opposed to the Scorpio?
More like in between the two from what I understand.
It would be neat at least if devs used this with something like Ni-Oh's choice between 'movie mode' and 'action mode' where with movie mode the game is 1080p 30fps and action mode where the game is 720p 60fps. Maybe provide people using the PS4 Pro an option between 4k/1080p 30fps vs 1080p/720p 60fps?
Ok I don't care about this console. But why the hell do the Europeans have to pay more than the Americans?
Who the fuck is to blame for this? I'm getting sick of it. Also Eastern EU getting the same prices as Western EU. Fuck that also.
What does that even mean?
Increased graphical performance, obviously.
Developers can do what they want with that.
More like in between the two from what I understand.
I guess the option that's best is to see how developers use the extra power for 1080p before purchasing because fuck buying a 4k tv in Australia.
I knew something like this would happen. It was obvious from the leaks, but it feels good to be right.
The new race for 4K is just a repeat of last gen's race for 1080p. Last gen promised us "full HD, 1080p" and had it on every game's box, but once we started counting the pixels it was obvious that a vast majority of games only rendered at 720p or below. The few games that did hit the mark either struggled in performance or had very simplified styles. Last gen certainly wasn't the 1080p gen.
This gen, we finally sorta got to that goal. Lots of major games hit 1080p60 on PS4. But now 4K is the hip new thing, so buy this awesome new box that has the power to take you to the realm of ULTRA HD, TRUE 4K FOR EVERY GAME. Except of course it doesn't have that power, and the leaked developer guidelines make it painfully apparent that it's just going to be another "fake HD" gen (or half a gen, I guess) where the big names tout 4K but few games actually reach it. The guidelines say devs only really need to reach 1440p, and they have a plethora of tools available to help them fake 4K. 60fps isn't even a priority, and the flagship titles are already confirmed to target 30fps. I have no doubt that, despite being more powerful, the Xbox Scorpio is going to have the same problems. But it will be funny to see Microsoft flip the tables on Sony and become the new hardware power leader this gen.
I waited for the price drops and bought the first-gen Xbox One and PS4, knowing full well that these super HD versions are coming later. Because I'm personally fine with 1080p, especially after being promised it for the entirety of last gen, and I feel like people like me are going to have the last laugh overall. While devs struggle to wring every drop of power they can out of these """4K""" consoles to try and reach that coveted 4K goal, the original boxes are going to get versions of games that hit the 1080p mark no problem. I have a fear that many games will be locked to 30fps on the original boxes just to have "parity" with the 30fps Pro/Scorpio versions, which will be a huge shame. But hopefully some devs do the right thing and let us 1080p-ers have some good stuff.
At least, that's what I hope will happen. It's totally possible that the non-Pro/Scorpio versions of games are all half-assed and unoptimized, but both Microsoft and Sony seem keen on stopping that from happening with their guidelines.

Was Halo 5
I've been waiting to get a ps4 (for persona 5 reasons) and I'm just torn now, I don't know wether to go for a slim or the pro, because while the pro sounds good, I'm not sure I wanna fork out the extra 100$ for a feature that's probably gonna be used in 3 games. If only it supported 4k blurays at least, ugh.
when you pay 400$ for a upscaler

I know Halo 5 and other games used this technique for 1080p, but this was a PS4 article I read today about 4K.

AFAIK Pro comes with a 1 TB drive while the Slim is just 500 GB, so the difference is even smaller than 100$.
did they finally make the dualshock 4 not a cheap piece of shit that falls apart in a month yet

reminder that most 4K Tv's today you buy are gonna be smart tv's, which will have 4k netflix/amazon/etc. support built in to the TV's OS.
theres literally zero purpose to buy this ps4 unless you want more colors. And you'll only get more colors if you pay for a 700$ 4K TV After your 400$ purchase.
You can get a 55 Inch 4K TV w/HDR10 Support and a Xbox One S that includes every halo 1-5 for 800$ at US Best buy right now. Pretty good deal if you want to build up your xbox collection while you wait for scorpio, which msft says will be a actual 4k60 console.

Wii should go a bit lower in 2015, because of Splatoon, Super Mario Maker and new Smash
But it pretty much sums my feelings.

They already did that. The revised PS4 controllers I have stronger rubber on the analogue sticks and no other problems.

For the N'th time: The developers individually decide what resolution and framerate the games will run at. The PS4p is just as much of a "true" 4K60 console as the Scorpio will be, in that devs have the option to output in 4K60 if they want to. This does however not mean that they're obligated to do it, and as such there will be devs that focus on better graphical effects over resolution/framerate on both platforms.
The hardware supports it, the software has to adapt.

The battery life is still terrible though.
Honestly, I always thought that companies asking 300-400$+ for a console was ridiculous, but even my phone is worth that so I can't really blame them for charging as they do. But still, the 4k upgrade for 100$ for extra is pretty dumb.
The battery life is still terrible though.
Yeah, I think you can turn off the lights now though.
Yeah, I think you can turn off the lights now though.
Unless they just added it you can only make it dimmer. It's a huge improvement when it comes to being obnoxious, but it isn't off.
Battery still the same no matter how bright it is.
You can make the light dimmer but it barely affects the battery life.
