Ah, fuck, here we go again. Here, let me save some time and generalize it, someone who's been here a while will elaborate if it's needed but I don't feel like it today.. 1LT. Joshua "Diesel" Dumont (Ret.) 386th Army National Guard Combat Engineer Battalion 7 Years, served near 8 months in Iraq, was allowed early retirement due to injury from roadside bomb. Check the profile picture also, that's me.
Having taken life and seeing death in horrific fashions beyond even that as an everyday occurrence is the reason it doesn't bother me.
I have seen worse, but the principle of killing the weak bothers me.
I really have the urge to watch this... I don't know why, but I don't want to, and might end up not watching.
I really have the urge to watch this... I don't know why, but I don't want to, and might end up not watching.
I know your feelings, but don't. It is what they want you to do. Don't feed the RL trolls.
Sorry to be off topic, but that's super cool.
Not really. (No offense to him at all, I respect his mission.) War is not "cool."
Please help me rationalize why this man's family would want the video to be removed from the internet instead of making irrelevant statements. If you can't think of anything then could you at least admit it?
Dude, are you a fucking robot or Dr. Manhattan or something? What the fuck are you trying to prove? The man's family would want the video removed because it depicts his brutal death. They know that people will watch it for no other reason than to gawp and make jokes, and I know that your emotionless mind can't understand it, but people don't like people making jokes or being all "holy shit, did you see that" about their dead relatives. You have to honour the relatives' wishes. End of story.
Not really. (No offense to him at all, I respect his mission.) War is not "cool."
None taken and I agree but it was my duty and I did what I had to do for my country.
Yes it does. If you aren't emotionally affect by that video, you are, quite clearly, cut and dry, no doubt about it, a psychopath.
Just because you're not affected to the point of wanting to cry or throw up, like apparently some people were, doesn't mean you will go and kill someone for "fun".
None taken and I agree but it was my duty and I did what I had to do for my country.
You have the ability to talk about this like you do. OCT08 does not. When he joins the army and kills people and sees his friends die, then maybe I could respect his views. Edit:
Just because you're not affected to the point of wanting to cry or throw up, like apparently some people were, doesn't mean you will go and kill someone for "fun".
Actually, I agree with this. You should have at least some emotion though. And the link between not caring that much about death and capacity to kill is illogical, plus I think he was talking to Linelor and he's in the army, so he has a reason.

There is a huge difference between being desensitized and being psychotic.
No, I was addressing anyone who wasn't affected by watching the video at all. There is a huge difference between being desensitized and being psychotic.
Ah, right, I understand what you're saying. If someone is totally unaffected by it, then yeah, they're pretty psychotic. But if they're disturbed, but not crying/vomiting, then they must be desensitized (to some degree.)
people don't like people making jokes or being all "holy shit, did you see that" about their dead relatives. You have to honour the relatives' wishes. End of story.
That video was a learning lesson for me, and probably most of the other sane people who watched it.
That video was a learning lesson for me, and probably most of the other sane people who watched it.
I'm glad to hear it. I think I said this before - I'm just trying to explain to Dr. Robot here why they might not want the video online. It's too late now, as it probably will have been spread around. Basically : People watch video, disgusted, reminded of human nature, aware of horrors in world - unpleasant, but needed. People watch video, shocked, make jokes, disregard for death, show to friends with intent of grossing them out, further desensitized to death - bad.
That video was a learning lesson for me, and probably most of the other sane people who watched it.
What did you learn from it? Not going to Ukraine?
What did you learn from it? Not going to Ukraine?
No. That there are bad people, and bad stuff happens.
More like you're a pussy who's acting tough on the internet saying he's killed and sees regular mutilation. Yeah. We envy you.
Uh you know he went to Iraq right Edit: oh nevermind, he already posted refuting your argument

That would be the equivalent of me hitting somebody in a car and saying "I killed somebody before" Maybe join the army or the marine core if you want a bit of respect, or simply want people to take you seriously.
Having taken life and seeing death in horrific fashions beyond even that as an everyday occurrence is the reason it doesn't bother me.
I forgot you were in the military, my bad. I understand now what you're saying, if you come to live around death and destructuion for long enough I suppose you just have to climatise to it.
National guard. Big man... That would be the equivalent of me hitting somebody in a car and saying "I killed somebody before" Maybe join the army or the marine core if you want a bit of respect, or simply want people to take you seriously.
Oh fucking wow... Are you really that ignorant? National Guard has 2 roles basically: National Defense and they are deployed in war as specialists. We were sent over there and attached to Army and Marine divisions to assist and fight. We saw combat just as much as anyone else so stop being an ignorant fuckhead and close your mouth.
National guard. Big man... I know Bush Jr joined the national guard to avoid going to Vietnam. My point is I doubt you joined the national guard to serve your country in Iraq. Your whole "I'm hardcore shit, man" stuff is really falling through. National guard is back-of-the-line stuff. As I said before, if you are going to pull in respect like you are trying to right now, join a real fighting force. And most of all, stop degrading the 21 victims of this murder saying that it's nothing big compared to war. In fact, don't compare murder in war, and murder in civilized life, they are very different things. By the way, Piehard, I'm Canadian. Nothing that happens in Iraq affects me at all. the only reason Canada is in Afghanistan is helping to solve the problems that the Soviet Union and the United States created. You've already helped spread this murder shit on the web, by showing the video, so why don't you fuck off, and crawl back into your hole.
:words:
uhh, just stop.
just stop.
Coming from the guy with almost 16, 000 posts.
oh no, let's go into insult random people mode!
Hardly random. You stepped into an argument that wasn't yours, so it's yours now. I'm getting tired of coming back here, so I'll just make my point: It's a sad realization that there are actually sites devoted to these real life snuff films. You just as big of an ass if you make fun of it or better yet, post it in yet another place. Just let it die already.. Imagine how fucking painful it is for the family of that video'd victim. everyday people are watching it to gross out their freinds, the victims are not able to actually mourn and let it go because there are creeps, thirteen year olds, and assholes watching the death video because somebody figured it wouldn't hurt to post it on a goddamn forum where hundreds of thousands of people would see it. For those of you who say, "this is nothing man, I'm fucking hardcore". Fuck you. Why this thread hasn't been locked and or deleted beats me, they close all sorts of other shit here...

I'm not forcing you to watch the video, or to respect the National Guard, i'm saying that I respect anyone who enters an armed conflict willingly because I sure as hell know it's something I wouldn't do. Also, I have no hole as of right now, your mother isn't returning my calls.
read the post above yours.
In hindsight I guess it would've been more sensitive to just post the news story.
That's my point, news is fine, but you have people clicking in that link regardless of whether they want to see it or not, then people spread the link elsewhere until everybody has seen it. I don't think i would want my father or brother to be remembered as "that guy who got his face smashed in and eyes stabbed by those guys on that video." and have a couple of thousand people watch it daily.
I'm not even going to bother. You showed your ignorance in multiple posts so I'm not even going there, but I will say this. I actually joined the Army and was transferred to the National Guard as a specialist because I excelled in leadership and combat engineering, and I knew I could be deployed and when I was I led my squad and soon thereafter my platoon with pride and regret nothing. If you still think the same, then so be it, but don't come in here talking about shit you know nothing about trying to make everyone else look as bad as you.
