ORION removed from Steam after DMCA from Activision over gun models
As a thought question wouldn't Activision have to circumvent Orion's drm to deduce if they used assets from Activision, which in the process breaks the DMCA itself
Uhm, they could've just check the games assets off player screenshots anyways. Right?
It seems Orion developers have taken just small parts of guns from CoD and implemented into their shit base model that might be copied from some other developers.
Orion also fired a ton of employees after their kickstarter succeeded to avoid paying them a while back.

They also claimed their stolen NS2 model was just "placeholder" content, but I can tell you right now ripping models to use in pre-alpha is not standard practice. Clearly damage control.
Keep in mind, this is from the same guy who fired most of the people who made his original game (without pay) right before putting it on steam.
Cool. I hope he has lots of trouble from now on :)
I've been gifting these like a madman to people since it's 90 cents, It really is the next bad rats.

bad rats wasn't created maliciously and with stolen assets. at least bad rats created everything themselves.
and i can't believe i just wrote a post purporting bad rats as a good thing
They started a indigogo Campaign and donated $500 of their own money.
I can't believe that there are gamers who are defending the money-abusing, ♥♥♥-wiping turds that is Activision who walks all over gamers with annual $60 releases, season passes, $15 map packs, doesn't involve or listen to them in any way.
Then you have US, who literally pay money to do amazing fan service for content like you mentioned above which we GIVE away.
Thats probably the most retarded thing I have heard in a public statement...like ever. I am legit astonished.
Heh, anyone remember when the lead Dev of this game was a regular poster her trying to get people on here to make it for him when it was still a Half Life 2 mod? Guy was an Ideas Guy through and through, and it smelled fishy to me back in 2007. Always hated him, and I'm vindicated each time they release another shitty Orion game.
Also I see they renamed themselves from Spiral Game Studios to Trek Industries. Noting shady there!
That would have to be proved, wouldn't it? Which it's much easier to prove copyright infringement than it is to prove that the party issuing the DMCA takedown violated the DMCA.
People keep forgetting that DMCA is a means towards a takedown. Anyone can file a DMCA takedown letter, the content host is forced to comply, then the person it was filed against can (if they choose to do so) file a counter-letter which reverses the automatic takedown and the host reuploads the content, backs away, and both parties have each others' contact information to start a lawsuit. Nothing is judged, nothing is proven. The lawsuit is where that happens.

This is amazing
Here we go with david prassel being a shitter again. He stole a bunch of money ($30000 usd) during the source mod's development and banned anyone who criticized the game. A lot of the devs quit because he was such a twat.

If this just a troll post by someone who hacked his Reddit account, well, lol.
If this was really, really him, holy shit Prassel has achieved Derek Smart level 1. This is gonna be good for years.
It's like Limbo of the Lost all over again.
I've been trying to remember this game for years. Thanks.
I recommend everyone who is tired of this guy abusing his employees, infringing copyright, and just generally raking in cash off being the shadiest motherfucker alive report the indiegogo campaign.

You are absolutely in the right to do this as well.
The campaign gives away both ORION games as potential rewards, so they are rewarding backers with copyright-infringing content.

Pretty much my point exactly. I'd hope that everyone agrees does this, I don't want to see this shady guy rip even more people off and it only takes a minute or two to select from the drop down and write a brief thing about why it's fucked
Is it ok with indiegogo to "donate" to yourself, too? because if so what the hell.

Defending yourself by attacking the other party and outright lying about the "stolen assets", how dense is this guy lmao.

Hopefully these HACK FRAUDS get what they deserve, and this terrible game is put out of our minds and stores forever.
This is pretty entertaining.
Jesus :v:
I worked on the Orion mod back in the day, made a map for it and I still consider it a jumping off point in my career. After the mod had shipped I was offered to work with him on the next Orion project in UE3 but turned it down seeing as I wanted to go to college. there was a part of me that wanted to hold off on college and work with him, so glad I took the other path..

You would imagine someone computer-literate enough to edit page source would actually bother to find a Russian IP, or at least make one up that wasn't LAN reserved.
This has to be a joke.

Everyone, gather round. This is the best entertainment money can buy. Watch as this deranged man digs his own grave - in slow motion!

It would take me not two seconds of looking at my server's logs to find a nasty Russian bot IP.
Not only that, but he got the country wrong. It's "Russian Federation".

It's more like digging your own grave in a boxcar filled with dirt attached to a train actively getting into a wreck.
Don't read the Steam comments...

Their account got banned from the Steam forums.
Can't wait to see this David Prassel character end with a Slaughtering Grounds-styled meltdown and blame the entire Steam community for some reason that's impossible if not already implausible to back and just ends up making him further look like an immature cunt that absolutely cannot properly run a business. Judging from all the damage control, its obvious he's already going on that path.
Honestly, this whole situation is nothing but a scam with the fact that they literally rename the same game occasionally while only changing minute details; the super low price already shows they're trying to avoid legal ramifications for that too.
He's digging a hole deeper than ubisoft
