I think if they continued to develop minecraft, expand and polish it they'd get more money out of that than they will out of these games after screwing over people who bought minecraft. The entire reason they exist has been ignored, and an update a couple of months after the game's release contains essentially less than a small content patch for Team Fortress.
Even from a money-hungry perspective, it makes more sense to continue to develop minecraft even if they no longer have any passion for it.
In otherwords they have no idea where to go.
Actually it doesn't make much sense to develop it further. People who wanted already bought MC. And unlike tf2, mc doesn't have a cash shop(or do they now? I heard they had plans for it but dunno)
Judging a game while it's in production is like judging a book by it's cover, to me. You can't really know how good it'll be until you try it yourself.
I think Notchs reputation and credibility was really hurt with the Yogscast incident at Minecon.

who gives a shit minecrafts a cool game, its fun so why should you expect anything more of notch

It was already pretty damn low when he wanted to settle international copyright issues with Bethesda by betting it all on a game of Quake.
Doesn't require so many teams for the games they produce.
Personally, I do not get all the hate for Notch. I really like Minecraft, it is great fun. Although I am not a die hard fan of the game. Maybe that is the reason why I am not so hyped about new stuff being added. Besides the game is now at version 1.1. But I have to admit that I bought the game pretty late.
A lot of content was added and I think the game is finished in a way, nothing to complain about.

We expect a lot more of him because hes spent the majority of his time taking a vacation and patting himself on the back after every tiny minecraft update.
He needs to get his shit together and realize that the money train isn't always going to come rolling in.
His coding is awful, so every time something is released a thousand other things are broken, and none of his ideas are the least bit original.
Yes, minecraft is a "cool game" but that doesn't mean it couldn't be much better.
MC would be thousand times more fun if it had a proper development cycle. So many stuff that could be added.

We don't expect anything from him because he's a lazy motherfucker
Reminds me of the Miner Wars development team. They are selling alphas to at least 2 or 3 different games, I wish they would just develop one before starting all these other ones.

Why what happened.
I do not know the details, but Simon and Lewis from the Yogscast had a huge verbal fight after the Minecon. It was quite bad. Check on youtube and google. You find loads of stuff.
Nobody is expecting anything "more". People are expecting the already promised stuff.
Still waiting on that zombie expansion, doom map loader, and modding api.
I don't understand why everybody has such a big issue with this. Mojang is nowhere near as small as it used to be, and they obviously have different teams working on different stuff at the same time.
I know it isn't really much of a comparison, but take a look at Valve. They have loads of different teams working on different stuff at the same time (TF2, CS:GO, DotA 2, and god knows how many other unnanounced titles). Having a system like this means that you can reduce costs by shuffling developers around to where they are needed rather than laying them off when you finish a single title.
You did not just compare a business with hundreds of people to one with 15 (?). Just one team of Valve has like 5 "Mojangs" in terms of people. Besides, it's like Notch just hired people and told each one of them to make a game :v:
It specifically says Notch isn't working on the others.
Mojang is trying to show that it isn't dependent on Notch and can create games without his supervision.
A strong independent Mojang that don't need no Notch
Notches break reminds me of this chart showing all the breaks hes had.

Does this really have to be posted in every thread about Mojang?

Well, it does clear up a lot of things. That, and it's the first time I've seen it - I'm sure it will be for one or two others as well.
Mojang working
Hahaha nice joke.
Scrolls and those other games will be the same fate as Minecraft - lots of support, then Notch suddenly gets bored.
I remember when everybody here treated Notch as a god and supported every single decision he made without a doubt.
Notch reminds me of that episode of Spongebob where Spongebob's cousin came over and he couldn't finish anything.
And even if he could finish something, it usually was horrendous.
[sp]Oh god, did I just reference spongbob. What am I? 2 years old?[/sp]
At least they aren't as slow as Data Realms.

I didn't, I didn't really recognise his existence until he started fucking up the Minecraft development.

Remember harder. For at least the first year, he was indie Jesus.
Why what happened.
The Yogscast showed up and they were all like "let's sign some fan shit bro", then Notch got drunk and had a stoke when he was typing on Twitter about how the Yogscast... swore occasionally and in fair moderation, the fiends!
So yeah Notch like flipped the fuck out on them for no reason on Twitter and everyone basically collectively either went "I don't know who the Yogscast is but I hate them anyway they totally deserve this" or "wtf Notch I thought you guys were bros"

he put in the work initially and now he's reaping the rewards of his success. there are corporations and politicians that promise loads of shit on a daily basis (that actually hold gravity in the real world) and they don't seem to be hated here anywhere near as much as notch is

He started his work but he didn't finish it. I think people have the right to feel ripped off. oh and a politician didn't take 17$ from me.
