Screenshots of MS systems shouldn't be criminalized, thank you.
I agree they shouldn't, it would set a very dangerous precedent. But on the other hand, it would be fucking hilarious.
If you look at the images submitted along with the patent (it was in a Gizmodo article on it) it contains Microsoft images. Would love to see MS counter-sue over copyright infringement.
Why the heck is tile 30 in Norwegian? [editline]2nd November 2012[/editline]
I'd say the current patent system should be reformed (whilst protecting existing patents for a grace period allowing re-application to the new system) but there's probably already a patent on that
Patent and copyright laws needs a major overhaul. They are so ass-backwards and do the opposite of what they are supposed to. Both copyright and patents are supposed to help creativity bloom and make for fair competition. But they both just cause stagnation, wars and trolling and ruin any bit of creativity there is. They also ignore the existence of internet and how it's changed how we interact with the world, others, products, services and so forth.
WoT gives me a code red on their website, lol.
wot gave me a super code red
Seems like the poor ratings is because it's a patient troll website
Sits on patents for years and does nothing with them, waits until a company makes a similar product and sues them. Both companies were granted patents for a similar "technology" but, only one company did anything with it. Guess which company didn't do anything with the patent , sitting on it for 13 years,? SurfCast.

lame company that just wants to make easy money by suing other companies because they feel like they can. rubbish.

Not really. Theyd fight against this since it's so incredibally broad.
Microsoft has broad patents.
Patent Patent Trolling.
And today we get yet another example showing how software patents are terrible...
boy I sure would love to see windows 8 have a grid of cramped views of the corner of websites constantly refreshing and reminders of how badly named my hard drives are
why would you love that? sounds kinda lame to me
This is sad. We've come to times where we get sued for using even the most darkest design in the universe. Hate to say it, but... This is why we can't have (or make) nice things.
k do you have working concepts or was this a pipedream "dude what if squares could tell us things some day" patent
guys, guys I was an ideas guy in the 90's and I totally wrote everything down!!!
Patents were a good thing back when the lightbulb was relatively new, but I believe they should stay the hell away from software in general. They only serve as stumbling blocks in the way of software's technological progress.
they have a whole section on their site for patents they must really be proud of those patents
