e: And the fact that they haven't called Obama out for continuing the same policies that they called Bush out for
Maybe it's a solidarity thing.
are you fucking kidding me
Maybe it's a solidarity thing.
It pretty much is, it's just partisanship. It's bullshit that when Obama continues things like illegal renditions, warantless wiretappings, etc they don't say a thing about it (beyond people like Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich or the few that have been consistent)
i dont see how this effects me which is the only reason why i dont care
its not like im hiding bombs or anything, i actually feel more comfortable knowing that people are actually looking out for suicide bombers as someone in my state tried to blow up a US army recruitment center with fake plastic explosives just recently
and look how well patriot act powers worked at stopping him

yes if something doesn't effect you then clearly you don't need to be worried about it

There is overwhelming evidence that they don't use the Patriot Act to catch terrorists but rather an gigantic majority of the time they are using the extension of powers to investigate other offenses not at all related to terrorism.
ugh, as much as the democrats deserve to be defended, simply because they are saints compared to the republicans, i'm fucking sick of the centre-left
There was once a time when everyone wanted to live in the USA
I dont thing i can believe that after reading this
Thank god I'm Canadian!

a sting investigation doesn't require illegal searches or wiretaps
it wasnt a sting operation but okay
Hey guys, as long as we don't search "how to make a bomb" on google, we'll be fine!

Ah, fuck...
I still want to see some short on SNL or something where there are a bunch of office workers, one taps into phone sex. One by one, the office workers tap in, and a man in a ski mask holding a bomb slowly creeps along in the background without being noticed.
But in all seriousness, it baffles me how many logical singularities the conservative mindset involves:
"Healthcare bill violates the constitution because you are required to acquire healthcare. Now, we're going to tap into your personal phone conversations. I mean, its not like there's an amendment that prevents us from doing this, right?"
"I think that the government dumps too much money into programs like Social Security and Medicare. Now lets go dump billions of dollars in defense spending, as well as funding a war on 'terrorism'."
"Some Muslims from the Mid-East flew a plane into the WTC. This must mean that all Muslims are middle-eastern rag-headed terrorists!
The pope touched a little boy? ALL CATHOLIC PRIESTS ARE CHILD RAPISTS? THATS ABSURD, YOU MUST BE A MUSLIM RAG-HEAD TERRORIST!"
"Abortion is wrong, because it kills the life of a potential child. Hey, I have an idea, lets privatize Medicare so the elderly have to pay for it. Oh, then we can privatize social security so the elderly can't afford to pay for Medicare.
What? The elderly are dying because they can't pay for care? I have nothing to do with such matters! :saddowns: "
"Taxes are getting higher because of the ACA. Obviously, we should privatize hospitals, and then make sure that no regulation is in place. Americans will have to pay more for a broken arm under the new plan than a heart transplant under the former, but at least we lower the deficit. :downs: "
Some of the initial arguments could be entirely legitimate (aside from abortion and the thing about Muslims), if it weren't for the fact that their own actions ruin their credibility.
The matter of fact with Republicans is that the party itself isn't bad, its the faulty ideology that corrupts the party. Get rid of that along with the bible humping, closed-mindedness, and bandwagon circlejerks and you might have a legitimate government body.
The reason they ended up becoming such piles of shit was that people like Reagan planted the central ideology that in a world of insane people, you take the least insane people and put them in power. But with power comes greed (and we all know how that goes).
Many great leaders were part of the Republican Party, Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt are prime examples. Their fucked up, money-obsessed drive only came along during Reagan's presidency.
As a final note, not all republicans are stupid. Plenty of them are, but the ones who spearhead the party aren't stupid when it comes to fiscal legislation. Their solutions are to put as little regulation in the market as possible, allowing multi-million dollar corporations to exchange favors between the government and themselves. The result is the government borrowing and receiving billions of dollars from these companies, in exchange for legislation that allows companies to basically anything to gain larger profits. They then hide these back-door deals behind a misleading title: The "free market". Many conservative citizens are thought to believe that we can trust these corporations to make the right decisions for their employees and customers (which they usually don't).
TL;DR,
Republicans are hypocrites. They are socially retarded, but are fiscally brilliant. With that being said, their brilliance is put into making themselves rich.
Also, I don't support the patriot act.
They are fiscally brilliant.
How so? Reaganomics doesn't work, pumping huge amounts of money into defense at the behest of education and social services doesn't work, the fiscal policies of the republicans, much like their social policies, don't work.
They are hypocrites and idiots in every way imaginable and even this gram of defense/sympathy you have given them is a gram too much. They are and have been, single-handedly, tearing apart the western world with their bullshit ideas and people need to get this through their thick skulls. Conservatism is destroying us.
They are socially retarded, but are fiscally brilliant.
fiscally brilliant?
since when
excuse me which president saved the us from the great depression again
Wait a minute, why isn't the Tea Party mad about this shit? This is pretty god damn uprise worthy if anything our government is doing right now is, especially if a modest tax increase is.
I don't know if you know this, but the Tea Party is really just the GOP's bitch.

George W. Reagan
So they're fiscally brilliant in the sense that it makes them rich?
So they're fiscally brilliant in the sense that it makes them rich?
basically just glorified thieves.
:sigh: I tire of our government.
So they're fiscally brilliant in the sense that it makes them rich?
Precisely. Republicans practically leech off of the damage they do, because the lobbyists that they work for fork out billions to keep the counter-productive legislation in place.
I never said they worked FOR the middle class, rather that they know how to screw the middle class so hard, that they get paid by their special interest to keep it that way.
There's a reason that most children from grade school to early high school take so many standardized tests, its so they can teach them to hate learning. They don't learn to make a better of their world, or teach critical thinking skills to solving social problems, they teach them to take a stupid test.
The media leeches off the fact that children hate learning by providing a distraction from schoolwork. Meanwhile, printing companies are paid giant sums of money each year for printing and distributing diagnostic, and comprehensive assessment tests. These companies continue to fork out their mass earnings to conservatives, even some liberals, to keep the stupidity pumping.
Once the intelligence of the middle class is dulled, the conservatives claim that it's too broken to fix, coming to the conclusion that the middle class is not educated enough to make intelligent decisions on who to elect. The power is then put in the hands of the rich, who can afford to put their children in private schools and top-of-the-line universities, which are practically unaccessible to the middle class due to massive tuition fees, not to mention dorm and meal plan costs.
It then leads to the same caste system between peasants, nobles, and kings back in the dark ages.
May I remind you that a strong, politically-active, and well-educated middle class is an essential piece to democracy, but that's for another day.
I don't know if you know this, but the Tea Party is really just the GOP's bitch.
What I was getting at is that they have a blind spot for anything unconstitutional that the republicans do.
