Here is How Modern Warfare 2 Will Spark Further Controversy
Hey, it could have been even more offending to some.
It could've been a high-school, not an airport.
Anyways, I personally don't care about this, it's not the first time something like this was done in a videogame.
You are not even there. It could be a kindergarden (In before pedobear)
This is horrific. I like the CoD series but this really should be banned, or at least removed from the game.
Are you german (Judging from your username)? I understand you if you are.
This pretty much. A lot of other games have had stuff like this.
But that wa soptional. From what I can see, you're objective IS TO KILL CIVILIANS. Other games ahve consequences for killing tham (police response, lower ranking etc.)
Finally this game got something good news. You play as a BAD GUYS for a whoopin one level!
Postal 2 had mass MASS EXTREMELY VIOLENT AND GORY civilian murder.
As did every GTA game.
Postal 2 was banned in a few countries and the GTA series has come close to the same fate many times.
Don't be surprised if a few countries ban this too.
I think this is one of those "Show all the parts, not just the valiant and the brave" type of thing, know what I mean?

Postal 2 was banned for pee. No joke.

There WILL be a consequence for that guy's actions.
It's a godamn war game, SOMETHING's gotta start the war.

Here's the whole thing on Youtube.
it show's the brutality of war I guess and what terrorists can do
Too true.
The first modern warfare demonstrated similar horror such as with the nuclear bomb scene/level. IMO that is no worse than this.
Now the reality of terrorism is being shoved in your face you feel empathy. THAT is the point of this scene.
[sp]and dark humour[/sp]
Wait, is that a Russian airport?
[editline]03:09PM[/editline]
Nothing against killing Russian civilians.
You guys are taking all of this way too seriously. Wah Wah I don't want to shoot virtual people in an airport. You make it seem like they have virtual wives to go home to. They obviously didn't do it for sick pleasure but to push the boundaries of games and to question the player.
Quoting for emphasis
Looks good...
What's horrific about it?
Kane & Lynch had mass civilian murder.
Postal 2 had mass MASS EXTREMELY VIOLENT AND GORY civilian murder.
As did every GTA game.
I don't see what all the fuss is about.
I suppose the difference is that here your goal is to kill civilians, and in those games it's completely optional.
This game continues to deviate from my original expectations of it. First, they tease us with fighting in Washington, DC. Now, we get to shoot civilians? I probably won't if I don't have to; I do it in GTA and all, but I like to think that I have at least SOME morals. But I do think moral choices are good; I like them, anyways.
Everyone should have expected this. If you didn't actually expect this, you weren't really paying attention. I mean, we did have shots of 4 terrorists shooting up an airport in the trailers and they couldn't have been the enemies in that mission, cause there's only 4 of them and it couldn't have been a cutscene, cause Call of Duty doesn't have cutscenes. So it could only be playable as one of the terrorists.
Plus, I don't this even takes place in an american airport, cause those SWAT like soldiers were FSB, a russian goverment agency. What the hell would a russian goverment agency be doing in an american airport?
This looks freaking awesome, finally we get to play as the bad guys.
In Bioshock you can harvest a little girl. Why is this worse?
The Russian Terrorists were giving the impression that they were from America by speaking English in an American accent. Yeah, it does seem obvious that you get to kill civilians.
Well, there we go, those are russian terrorists shooting up an airport, trying to seem like american terrorists (that sounds weird). It's still civilians, but at least fox news and shit like that won't care about it.
And yeah, the fact that you'll be shooting civilians was pretty much completely obvious from the very start, I don't see why are people going apeshit about this just now.
Buying it just for this.
I bet that if this would have been said before we found out all that crap about the PC version, people wouldn't be so negative about this. When all that shit about the PC version was said, everyone is just looking for the slightest things to call MW2 shit, even if those same people said it's gonna be awesome before.
It's a game, and I am pretty damn sure they know what they're doing with it.
They're not Civilians, they're Russians. They each have an AK-47 up their asses.
I wasn't pumped about this gambefore, but i am now.
Personally, I don't have a problem with this. Modern Warfare dealt with some touchy subjects like a nuclear strike, and this is just a natural progression. Although I can see the media having a field day over this, with MW2 so close to launch, I can't see this as anything but a good thing for Infinity Ward. If they get the sort of coverage as GTA4 had, then they're going to advertise to a lot of people.
God damn it! This scene is a reminder of the Mumbai Terrorist attack! Infinity ward you insensitive jerks! Why would you include this in the mission? As funny as killing civilians in GTA IV? Hell GTA IV is comedic but this is brutally serious! This game is going to end up getting banned in Australia, Germany, Singapore, Japan, etc etc
[editline]11:30PM[/editline]
And that my friend is a reaction from a parent/policeman gamer
[editline]11:31PM[/editline]
What we would heard from actually
[editline]11:31PM[/editline]
Oh god I hope they don't ban this game in Singapore

Note: They are 3d models, not real people with hopes and dreams.
Note: They are 3d models, not real people with hopes and dreams.
I know but I'm just trying to point out the initial reaction of soccer moms and politician if they see this.
Plus it's not like anybody could just walk in and go postal with a machine gun in an airport of a 1st world nation right? The security of most modern airport is so tight that they will kick your ass in less than 5 minutes if you stir up a trouble. 30 seconds if you are armed.
Didn't expect so many people to be opposed to this.
I mean that isn't even the whole game, just one tiny mission.
Hey guys, remember Kane & Lynch? That had several levels where there were hundreds of civilians running around between you and the enemies. And you pretty much had to shoot most of them. That didn't cause any controversy did it? Then I don't see how this will cause more. I mean, they probably don't even tell you that you have to shoot all those people, you can probably just walk trough the whole airport, not shooting any civilians and still pass trough the mission
Because MILLIONS of xbox kiddies are gonna buy this, and the soccer moms are gonna go batshit insane when they find out that little Jake has been killing innocent people in his game, of course most of them won't give two shits until it's featured in the national media. It probably won't be as big as the whole Mass Effect 2 debacle, since killing hundreds of innocent people is far more acceptable than seeing 2 seconds of blue buttocks, as well as CoD being seemingly immune to criticism in the gaming press ever since consoles started running the show.
