Here is How Modern Warfare 2 Will Spark Further Controversy
Didn't expect so many people to be opposed to this.
I mean that isn't even the whole game, just one tiny mission.
You seem to be unaware of how much the American media could blow this out of proportion.
Gamers on steroids treating the mall like a real life video game

Plus it's just nice to criticize Infinity Ward.
Because MILLIONS of xbox kiddies are gonna buy this, and the soccer moms are gonna go batshit insane when they find out that little Jake has been killing innocent people in his game, of course most of them won't give two shits until it's featured in the national media. It probably won't be as big as the whole Mass Effect 2 debacle, since killing hundreds of innocent people is far more acceptable than seeing 2 seconds of blue buttocks, as well as CoD being seemingly immune to criticism in the gaming press ever since consoles started running the show.
No american media is gonna give a crap about this, because you're not killing americans. And since most of the retarded media is in the US, I think we're safe.
That's why they call it modern warfare. The more news sites get a hold of this the stronger the controversy is going to get. Soon enough it will hit the news channels.
Game sites should know better to not contribute to meaningless shit like this, but they do it anyhow for the views.
I don't care about the god damn airport scene, hell in fucking Grand Theft Auto Vice city you can do the same shit but no one cared. Why should anyone suddenly give a shit about it in MW2? Why because its like a simulation? Because it only "looks" realistic?
For fuck sakes.

They'd be pulling the R card on themselves. Lol.
How does this differ from the GTA series?

You know, I was thinking about not buying this game but I can now kill innocent civilians? HOT DAMN I'M FIRST IN LINE.
Eh maybe I'll think about pirating it now.
Note: They are 3d models, not real people with hopes and dreams.
Yea but they symbolize something, real civilians.
And you shott them.
Just like burning a flag is not just a piece of cloth, this is not just "stopping the animation of a 3D model".

I mean "shoot"
anyone who feels morally challenged playing this mission has a severe problem with differentiating between fictional and reality, and are most likely more psychologically damaged than those who play this mission without remorse
The guy on the video makes me want to kill people.

In GTA, the civs are comedic, exaggerated. They're almost characitures in nature and not all of them are unarmed.
This depicts a more cold, calculated type of massacre. The reactions of the civilians are different. You see people trying to crawl away and survive. Or some trying to drag their loved ones to safety. Even your player's movements appear to be more cold as they slowly walk and gun everything down, not a run and gun that is seen in the GTA games.

That's a horribly loaded statement and not even close to the truth at all. I've been playing violent games for years now, and this is one of the more intense and questionable scenes I've seen in a game yet. I have no problem with heads being blown off of enemies, but the fact that you're just walking through and coolly mowing down civs does manage to raise an eyebrow and wonder where the line is.
I'm not saying it shouldn't be included, I'm not saying I won't play this. But it does bring up a number of questions on where companies should draw the line.

they're not civillians
they're 3D models
It's uncut in Germany, I'm a bit confused right now
Who gives a shit? You can do worse shit in any GTA game.

As someone said before - It's like when you burn a flag, it's not just the cloth you are burning. You are burning the symbol of a country.

Don't worry, they'll just ban it.
The tone in this topic would be 100% different if the game had dedicated servers.
People, including Zips, are looking for any reason to knock MW2 because of the whole dedicated server issue.
Oh god, this makes me want to play it even more.

Exactly.
"Ohh noes not murder!!1"
Blow it out your asses, nobody bitched about GTA 4 or Postal.

Same here, but replace even with "a bit".
It's not like you're being forced to kill them, are you?
Look at Call of Duty: World at War, you're gunning down surrendering Germans at one point who are begging for mercy, and there you have no choice but to kill them, and in MW1 you see people get executed in the prologue of the game.
It's just a game, this is simply to add feeling to it, I'm sure the makers of the game know what they're doing too.

Because Nazi's=Unarmed civilians?

When they're surrendering, yeah kind of.

Still, in the long run no one except the media will care.
Can't wait for the columbine DLC

Nah, you don't have to kill the civilians. Same with W@W, it's all decisions.
Indeed, it's all up to the player if he wants to be a heartless bastard or mercyful.
Not much different than the GTA series.

The game is supposed to be 16+ I believe, soccer mums wouldn't be able to complain.

You also have to take into account the people who cancelled their preorders.
