So hemp can't and won't?
Not until it shows me evidence of it being able to do so.
So people can't and won't?
People already grow it, but the market is incredibly saturated at the moment.
I'm not saying it's to be used in place of nylon, why are you changing the argument to that? I never brought that up.
Because we can mass produce alternatives at next to nothing. Nylon is dead cheap compared to hemp.
Oh so the people I know who own them don't exist? You can deny them existing, but people do buy them.
Their market is a drop in the ocean.
Cotton is a predominant industry currently and that's pretty clear.
More people prefer cotton, this has been established ever since the 16th century.
so they can't and won't be profitable?
They aren't at the moment. You would need balls to convince people to invest into your hemp farm, considering the market is over-saturated and cheaper alternatives (more popular might I add) are dime-a-dozen.
then why do my hemp shirts feel better than my cotton ones
Because you have opinions.
who cares if it's not as big an industry as cotton or nylon or whatever? it still exists and people like having alternatives so what's the problem? i'm confused about this hemp argument i just want weed to be legal
Because you have opinions.
what an observation, bravo
Alaska and Hawaii are not to scale.
who cares if it's not as big an industry as cotton or nylon or whatever? it still exists and people like having alternatives so what's the problem? i'm confused about this hemp argument i just want weed to be legal
Because people like to exaggerate the uses of the industrial plant hemp in order to convince people about legalizing it.
Some of them border on conspiracy theories, like how hemp can be used to cure cancer, be turned into cars, be turned into car fuel, be eaten, be worn, provide an energy source, can be used to build houses out of, and the only reason it isn't being used is because some big old mean corporation is trying to clamp down on its usage.
To be honest, if such a corporation existed, it would be bizarre that nothing would be done to hemp farmers in Europe.
Why does it annoy you, noone (as far as I know) is pushing you to do them, so why prevent others?

yeah it pisses me off when other people have fun too

NOTHING MAKES ME MADDER THAN THE ENJOYMENT OF OTHERS especially when it doesn't affect me in any way
Let me rephrase; I believe it messes with your mind too much, I've smoked it before all through out my Freshmen-Junior years and then I just saw all my friends turn out to be idiots while the ones that didn't smoke it stayed the same good old people I knew. (Of course, since you will mention this, I will say not everyone is the same, and some people work harder than others, so some people will keep up.)
And then my other belief is medical marijuana should only be passed to certain people with disabilities such as the user on facepunch in DD when I used to visit there, he has some nerve damage of some kind which makes him in pain - for the rest of his life.
Then in the other case, if you TRULY - ABSOLUTELY need bud to have fun all the time, then refer to the first section of this post.
Amazing how you're arguing over using hemp in clothing in a thread about medical marijuana coming to the capital.

This woman has a large pair to break a federal law in the capital though, hopefully this only leads to good.

i don't really care how much people exaggerate it so long as it's legal, everyone exaggerates how good their product is, it's marketing

When you are lying in order to pass a law, doesn't that concern you?

people change when they grow up that's just how things go, you can try to blame it on weed or you can just accept that noone stays the same. one of my best mates STOPPED smoking weed and i felt that ever since then he turned into a bit of a dickhead that only cares about money, but i'm not gonna blame that on him not smoking weed anymore. you should just worry about your life and let other people make their own choices
what an observation, bravo
Thank you, I thought it was concise and explained the situation very well.
When you are lying in order to pass a law, doesn't that concern you?
in this case not really lol because weed and hemp being legal is a good thing
in this case not really lol because weed and hemp being legal is a good thing
You'd make a great politician.
in this case not really lol because weed and hemp being legal is a good thing
Lying in order to pass a law is normally seen as something that a dictator would try to do.

Another contributing factor is changing-altering the production of different chemicals in your brain.
You can't just defend bud whenever it comes up mindlessly, you have to ACCEPT there's goods and bads about everything or things don't don't effect you at all, and then after that you're good to go on defending/attacking keeping neutral about something.

if you aren't going to blame it on that then why did you go out of your way to mention it
no offense, i think pot should be legal because people smoke it, buy it, and sell it as if it already is so it wouldn't really be that different, i'm just saying that by mentioning his change in attitude in correlation to the pot thing, you insinuated that you actually are blaming it on him not smoking anymore
maybe it was just badly phrased, i dunno

out of his way? he described a situation that involved that
how can you avoid mentioning something that a situation was involved with
out of his way? he described a situation that involved that

because in saying "he stopped doing this and then his attitude changed", he implied that the reason his attitude changed was because of that, even though he said differently immediately afterward
i guess it was just poor wording

i'm saying it's stupid to blame people changing on them smoking weed, just as stupid as it is to blame people changing on them stopping to smoke weed

It makes you morally bankrupt because you are willing to lie to people in order to get something you like legalized?
Even if its a good thing, why lie about it?

You could do your own research instead of just taking a stranger at their word.

How do you think hemp was made illegal in the first place? They lied on how it's bad for you and for your neighbor.
ITS HEMP!!! humanabyss wants clothes made out of hemp, more power to him! sobotnick thinks nylon makes better ropes, alright! i don't know i literally don't get this argument at all, just make hemp legal just make weed legal, and then we'll worry about who makes the best ropes
How do you think hemp was made illegal in the first place? They lied on how it's bad for you and for your neighbor.
That doesn't make it alright for you to go to their level.

people have done a lot of things for the greater good that can be thought of as "morally bankrupt", sometimes you have to take that route to get things that will end up being better for everyone done
[editline]oh hamburgers[/editline]
Actually, nevermind. Rereading the quote makes the context a bit different.
But think about the poor companies that run the prisons. They'd make less money if all those weed needle junkies stopped flowing into their prisons.
i'd say they can just work at a zoo but think of how many of them would be arrested for animal abuse
