All of these demands have twisted and reworded the Constitution to fit their needs.
Don't like the idea of paying prisoners.
All of these demands have twisted and reworded the Constitution to fit their needs.
That's funny I never thought that forced labor without pay was a twisted definition of slavery.
Well I live in a different part of Georgia and I think they're treated adequately for prisoners. Besides, prison SHOULD be miserable otherwise people wouldn't fear it and be more likely to choose to commit crime.
there are so many things wrong with this post
i dont see whats wrong with people being miserable in prison i mean it's the act of caging someone up for wronging another human being, do you want to send them to a fucking recreational summer camp or something?
i dont see whats wrong with people being miserable in prison i mean it's the act of caging someone up for wronging another human being, do you want to send them to a fucking recreational summer camp or something?
you behave like every inmate is a cold blooded killer
unfortunately they wont put effort into separating the inmates for their crimes, which is the only reason why i wouldnt support this if it was an equal system for people that qualified and deserved it then i wouldnt mind
Prison should really be more about turning criminals into productive members of society, rather than just a punishment.
Prison should really be more about turning criminals into productive members of society, rather than just a punishment.
unfortunately that kind of justice is lacking in the US
That's funny I never thought that forced labor without pay was a twisted definition of slavery.
I didn't know that they were forced to do work. Sorry.
Seriously. What the fuck, I thought atleast some people were intelligent. There has been like 85% people who come off as fucking lunatics in this thread. Inmates are humans goddamnit. Okay. lets look at this from another point of view. Imagine, and I mean try really hard to Imagine, you are an inmate yourself. You got caught for, say, smoking weed, which you find wrong. And now you gotta live in a shithole with no rights, work and not get benefits, lose a valuable part of your life and for what? Smoking some grass which is fucking less unhealthy for you than alcohol. How would that feel? Not very fun? Thought so. And now realise there actually are real people in this situation. Also the death sentence equals killing, it should be nonexistant. Thats like going back to the stone ages, going backwards.

Trust me though, some of those people deserve to die, and by 'those people' I mean the child rapists and psycho nutjobs that are beyond rehabilitation- not the potheads and simple junkies. Some people are just better off dead, and are far too gone to be saved. Sometimes they don't even deserve to be saved.

The work with pay thing is good. However, prisoners should not get healthcare. If the government won't give poor people healthcare why the fuck should they give prisoners healthcare? It's a giant double standard.
if you make 10$ an hour why in the fuck would you want to pay for some crackhead gay in a jail cell im sorry according to you its my fault that hes a crackhead homosexual and my benefits should be reaped for his well-being because he has so so much to contribute to the world
I'm sure a bigot like you will contribute just as much.
Many prisoners return to society. Why wouldn't we want them to come out with an education at least? You can judge a society by its prisoners, and a lot of ours are treated like shit. Most people in prison are there for petty shit, drugs, etc. Not all prisoners are rapists and murderers.
The work with pay thing is good. However, prisoners should not get healthcare. If the government won't give poor people healthcare why the fuck should they give prisoners healthcare? It's a giant double standard.
thats what ive been trying to get at here
I think we try and punish more than we rehabilitate. This means most people who return to society are fucked. It's sad, and just perpetuates the cycle of violence.
im sorry according to you its my fault that hes a crackhead homosexual
What the fuck is wrong with you? What does sexuality have to do with this? What're they gonna do? Riot and commit crimes?
What're they gonna do? Riot and commit crimes?
No they're going to strike read the article
sodomy is common in prisons :also they can strike all they want cause i guarantee you they wont get jack shit with swastika tattoos on their necks and histories of assault / violence which is what the majority are usually in for if you pay attention to the kind of people that go in and out of jails
sodomy is common in prisons
Sexuality determines who you are attracted to, not who you put your dick in
Because the prisoners are a ward of the state
So what. It's just saying that a prisoner should get better benefits than a normal person.
So what. It's just saying that a prisoner should get better benefits than a normal person.
I think everyone should get free healthcare. But you don't get to that solution by denying it to prisoners, you get there by giving it to everyone else.
So what. It's just saying that a prisoner should get better benefits than a normal person.
No it isn't. We don't let them out of prison to work because people deem them dangerous and don't want them on the outside. Since almost everyone agrees that we don't want the more violent criminals out and about working we keep them inside. When they are inside they cant support themselves, so its up to us to make sure they are healthy. outside of the prison there are free clinics and poor houses people can go to if they are financially troubled, of course those only go so far but id imagine they get more than the prisoners in this Georgia prison.

Wait, let's expand the health care reform to them and force them to buy health insurance! If they get paid for their work then they should be able to pay up for their health care.
because all criminals are serial rapists
"Not true, I like, never raped enough to become "serial". Gah! Profiliiiiiing... "

And out of all those job opportunities how many of them pay well? They will get terrible health care if it was handled by anyone other than the government, because then they wont have health care and instead of the money going to helping the prisoners or the government it goes to the insurance companies. at least with the government we know they are obligated to care for them, but if you give the control over to corporations then they will probably just get conned out of their money, and certainly if you force them to.
