You're only getting half of the art piece if you don't know its intent. Yes, you're literally looking at assholes and that is as unpleasant as looking at assholes actually is, but you're only getting half of the picture here.

But if you're dismissive, and can't get over yourself enough to stop calling things pretentious and then writing them off you may actually be able to find some sort of value in, as abrasive as this is upfront, a statement that he may be attempting here. This isn't just advice for this exhibit, it's for art and expression in general.

The grossest part of this video, I think isn't what the performer was doing, but more of the reaction of the people in the audience who are clearly desperately looking for meaning when they can't really find any. I always thought this video was more about the audience than the actual performance. In videos documenting art, the audience is rarely ever shown unless there is a point to the audience being shown.

But of course there is at least the commentary on materialism in the performance itself, but the weird speech and enigmatic spaghettios I have never ever been able to explain to myself.
