Someone needs to get Duchamp's Fountain in there to complement all the assholes.
But that was a urinal...
Probably a good way of keeping people from eating while inside of the gallery.
Wouldn't surprise me if this played a role in the administration's decision. :v:
Everything is art, but art does not imply merit
So you're saying that something that is completely void of any artistic merit or merit period can be considered art?

subjectivity
look it up
subjectivity

OK, I'll roll with it despite me disagreeing with it.
But i wish people would criticize the people behind these things for being lazy pieces of shit who contribute nothing to the art world.
It's pictures of assholes. It's not pretty, nor does it convey any message.

No shit.

It has for me. I'm not per se inspired by this, but I can definitely interpret a message regardless if what I interpret was the artist's intention or not.
So you're saying that something that is completely void of any artistic merit or merit period can be considered art?
Of course. "Art" does not imply something good. Anything made by people can be art
Also, simplicity in appearance doesn't mean that it was absolutely easy or didn't take effort.
If anything can be considered art, does somethings mere existence qualify something as art?
If anything can be considered art, does somethings mere existence qualify something as art?
If people made it then sure
If anything can be considered art, does somethings mere existence qualify something as art?
No.
Art is produced to communicate and express.
Art literally doesn't grow on trees. It needs human agency.
this is art? animes are art. fedora patterns are art. this is not art.
Is porn considered art?
The sexual movements, the moans, the accidental anal penetration, etc
this is art? animes are art. fedora patterns are art. this is not art.
this is the best post in the thread.
maybe in this forum.

Does porn try to express anything or communicate to audience?
Is porn considered art?

It can be. There's an entire, annoying, website called X-Art that makes "artsy" porn.
If people made it then sure
If no one is around, can art be appreciated?
Also, I'm just trying to get why people consider this art.
No.

I know this isn't quite about the art, but if art is produced to communicate and express, why do people always give other people shit when they don't get it and can't give a clear answer to what a specific piece of art means? I know a piece of art can be interpreted in many ways, but i feel like a vague interpretation doesn't really help.

No, but art doesn't have to be appreciated
Does porn try to express anything or communicate to audience?
It tries to express the sexual nature of living beings and how much we want to touch ourselves when we're horny
It tries to express the sexual nature of living beings and how much we want to touch ourselves when we're horny
Does it? Are you sure that is what porn is saying?
It confuses me that this is considered art while many believe that video games cannot be considered art.
Also, anyone remember that thread with the sculptures or molds of vaginas on the wall?
Does it? Are you sure that is what porn is saying?
yes
porn tells me to touch my weewee when I see him/her
It tries to express the sexual nature of living beings and how much we want to touch ourselves when we're horny
As far as I understand it, intention plays a big part. If someone somewhere produces porn with this motive in mind, it can very well be art.
But that was a urinal...
Massive brain fart on my part.

shit I'd pay to go there.
Look at this asshole:

I can just imagine Penn and Teller going around this place saying that out loud every few seconds.
This really says something about modern art enthusiasts.
Just look at them, quietly contemplating the deep meaning behind these macro images of hairy assholes, as if there's some kind of higher messaged to be gleaned from them.
You could say their taste in art is
shit
Art? In my asshole?
it's more likely than you'd think.
