what was the original title?
something like "valve announces new portal game"
omgg release hl3 already wow
Half Life 3 Pinball. :v:
Lol why do people keep saying "Nobody asked for this!" as if it matters. I checked the steam discussion forum for Pinball FX2 and there's a bunch of people stoked about this and saying that they should do HL2/TF2 tables next. Some of you guys have entitlement issues.
welcome to facepunch, where if it isn't half-life 3 or a new team fortress 2 update it's terrible and everything else is terrible
I misread it as Postal Pinball, and now I am very sad and disappointed. :(
All I ever wanted was pinball with severed heads and piss, but my dream will never come true. Oh well, at least this might be fun.
yay
Pretty cool, I say. Not sure how you guys manage to spin this to "fuck valve"
Definitely doesn't look like their most creative table. Kinda feel like they just couldn't figure out a good design that relied on using the portals since it's Portal Pinball so they just fell back to the most bland, generic layout they use for basic tables with a generic multiball mode.
Just a question: Which Zen Pinball tables are worth buying?
Man, some of you guys have issues, why are you getting worked up that Valve made something you don't want to play? Do you go to a cafe and get mad about everything on the menu you wouldn't order?
I want the Valve that made Half Life 2 and Portal back, not the Valve that made Dota and CS:GO. Don't get me wrong, i have nothing, NOTHING, against those games. It's just... Ever since those games dropped, it almost seems like Valve has forgotten the kind of memorable, story driven games that MADE them. They're going in dangerous new directions that i don't think is healthy for their public reputation. They've basically either killed off, ended, or let waste away their most potent IPs and their public interactions has been disappointing at best. I do consider Portal to be ended because let's be real, this isn't a Portal game. This is valve milking Portal for every dime it may or may not be actually worth. Fucking pinball games... I can only desperately hope that Valve's PR as of the last year or so is the exception, not the rule.

It's probably not even Valve who made this, they just provided them with the assets and general notes
The simple fact is they've evolved as a business and adapted their tactics for the current industry. Gabe already explained that the Valve people knew in the late 90s isn't coming back which is easy to understand from their point of view.
If you don't like it, move on to better things. And there are better things when the whole scene is larger than ever.
Yeah. I guess. It still upsets me, though. I'll miss what they were because that's what drew me to Valve in the first place. I would agree that the same goes for anyone here '12 or earlier.
[editline]22nd May 2015[/editline]
I guess it just makes me extra upset because it was always a goal of mine to go work there. But now...Now i just don't want to. Everything they were that made me want to work at Valve is gone. And that's perfectly acceptable, it's just hard to accept that my lifelong goal must now be abandoned.
It's an alright table crammed with references and Portal stuff, but it's a shame they couldn't get a couple new lines. They're reusing some from Portal 1, even.
Nobody expects this to be anything more than it is, really. It's not gonna be a -great- table, it's gonna be fanservice. It's the JoJo ASB of pinball.

It sounds like they got a few new lines, like that one of "Wheatley" mentioning the neurotoxins. I don't think it's Stephen Merchant though, just a mediocre impersonation.

Have to bounce balls off various hairy asses.
Well, it's still a game from Valve I assume? If so:
A guy on reddit must eat a photo of gabe newell and a chilly pepper mixed with it.
Some guy made a vow in pcmr on reddit saying if Valve releases game in 2015, he will eat photo of gaben and one of those red spicy peppers.
It's not from Valve, it's from Zen Studios. They do other liscensed Pinball tables as well.

ah fuck.
Oh well.
while were at it can we toss the entire poker night at the inventory franchise into the fire too
its literally just valve trying to make a quick buck too.....
[editline]22nd May 2015[/editline]
FUCK valve! im done and gonna throw out all my portal and half-life collectors merchandise to the bin
Fun fact: Poker night at the inventory is developed by Telltale games!
At 0.47, is that a very very bad Wheatley impression?
You can tell Valve doesn't have much investment in something if it's not even getting a PC release.

I mean...it looks kinda cool, but at the same time it feels like Valve is flipping me off

Fuck Valve.

It's everything lately.
The lack of singleplayer games, the rampant free to play money drains, paid mods, the train wreck that is the Steam store and greenlight, and now zero-effort console exclusive games with their assets. 5 years ago I would have told you Valve is the best game developer in the industry and they they would never pull shit like this.
imagine being this butt hurt over literally a third party dev making a game clearly in appreciation of valves work, and not valve maliciously licking their lips and rubbing their hands as they steal money from the foolish plebs.
Please continue to cry at valve and blame them for being 'greedy', over something they didn't make. A+ good job.
Yes, my complaint is right there. Zero-effort console exclusive games. It's a quick cash grab for them, and it's disgusting.
They haven't made a good decision in years.
1. This isn't a valve game
2. Valve actually makes excellently optimized console games, probably some of the most well optimized ones I've sell.
Is it me or are all the "next gen" games all stupid throw away arcade games?

butthurter was being sarcastic by the way, for the same reason you're making this post

I realized that but wanted to cover all posts just incase
some people are so butt hurt that they become the butt
butthurter usually does the butthurting (to others) however
TBH I havent been impressed by a single game that has came out this year... I mean for real I only have gta 5 BF4 and Shadow of mordor for the ps4 and two of those are last gen games! Where is the good meat and potatoes? Props to the company for making semi decent game but really, we need a new AAA or indie title that will actually have people coming back for more.
I don't know why anyone's surprised by this borderline shovelware, Valve hasn't been a good developer since TF2 updates were more about the item store than gameplay and DOTA 2 & CS:GO are pretty much treated as Microtransactions: The Game.

Read the 20 posts above You, and the way to talk about DOTA 2 and CS:GO makes it sound like you've never played them before, and how the transactions have 0 affect on gameplay.

Good thing Valve didn't make this.
