Obama: "By the end of next year, the war in Afghanistan will be over" in weekly address

When my brother and I were driving back from Tucson heading to Phoenix, over the past two months we've been seeing vehicles coming back from Kuwait, it's insane when you watch them. I mean literally hundreds to THOUSANDS of Hummers, APCs, and Abrams tanks being shipped in to and from Texas. I asked one of my friends who works for the CB, and he confirmed it was all stuff from Iraq. Stuff from Afghanistan will start coming in within the next 4 months, but not as much because we're giving most of it to Afghanistan.
Lets not have a repeat please
Yay

This is already a repeat of the Vietnam War.
Got a bad feeling this image is going to come to mind come New Years 2014.

Actually, you know what, that's probably just worst case scenario. At least Obama doesn't have to worry about pulling out of Afghanistan being used as a debate point against him in the future since he doesn't have to worry about getting reelected again.

Well, hopefully they learned this time
Well, hopefully they learned this time
They didn't learn the first time.
I wonder what new wars he'll start.

To be fair, wasin't the whole MISSION ACCOMPLISHED thing ment for the actual war against Iraqi military troops? After than it was just a war in Iraq against insurgents. We overstayed our welcome.

Syria and Yemen look like fun
We've been in war for almost my entire life.
Wow. I never even noticed this before.
I won't believe it till I see it.
Wow. I never even noticed this before.
Odds are you won't even notice the next one either as you'll never hear, see or touch it.
we'd better be out by then
bullshit the war economy can't just die overnight
bullshit the war economy can't just die overnight
What definition of 'overnight' accounts for the two years it'll actually be.
You know, what with the whole January 2013-December 2014 thing being more than a 'night'.
This will be very fitting by then.

Back to a garrison Army.
''We have been ravaging your country for over 11 years and we finally have decided to leave without paying you for the damages done to your country in this pointless and foolish conflict, praise us for our kindheartedness!''
Iran's next.
Yeah......
good luck with that obama.
Iran's next.
Hell no, Iran is not next. Africa is next, I am willing to bet several paychecks on it. There has been more activity and movement in the military shifting attention towards the continent.
Iran's next.
tbh, i say we just firebomb iran and leave the fucking middle east to rot.

That /activity/ is SOCOM personnel and Predator drones.in all likes, they are stomping on terror cells in Africa.
Yeah......
good luck with that obama.
Well, considering he is the commander in chief of the US armed forces, it would be easy for him to give the order. Considering we are actually in the middle of packing everything up and closing out everything already, it is entirely doable within the allotted time frame as well.
tbh, i say we just firebomb iran and leave the fucking middle east to rot.
That is not how we operate. A few of my friends are Persian, firebombing willy nilly is immoral and unjustified

Well, we are helping local governments with military support to root out terror cells in Africa, but I expect that we are going to increase deployments there a lot in the coming years. There is going to be an expanded Army presence there.
Didn't he say this when he was running for president in 2007 and 2008?
tbh, i say we just firebomb iran and leave the fucking middle east to rot.
How about we don't do that because that would be stupid?
You guys should take a look at this article.

Thanks for the read. You know, until all these articles started popping up on FP about how the military families all recruit from the same breed, I never used to think about it. Now, thinking about it, I noticed that it is true. A lot of guys have told me one of their reasons enlisting was because a family member had already served.
It was a good read. I think he's right about drones causing a desensitization to the public. Good stuff.
I wonder how Afghanistan will go once coalition troops pull out. I know Australian troops will be pulling out later this year as well.
