【France】Unemployed Frenchman guesses Celebrities' and Obama's twitter passwords

It was "sarahpalinisahottie"
The U.S. Government has a history of using stupidly simple passwords. At one time the White House website password was just "password". From there, hackers had access to many other passwords including DoD passwords and such. If you want a pretty good argument for the stupidity of the government, look at their passwords.
Everyone is coming up with tricky passwords like palinisahottie and qwerty.
It was definitely password.
First of all, he targeted people, so he knew he'd be able to do it, second of all, he could've posted some bad things on their Twitter's, possibly ruining their rep.
This happens to people all the time, and twitter doesn't seem to give a shit when its a common citizen. But what a lot of 'officials' fail to realize is that celebrities are just regular people. The president is the same. Nobody should get special treatment.
so apparently guessing is a crime now, also jesus fuck its only twitter. Who honestly cares about twitter? its not like any important secret information is being compromised.
You have no idea what kind of an impact it would have on Obama's reputation if something like "had a wild party yesterday with the guys, wow" was posted on his Twitter. Or what kind of press scandal it would cause.
Does this mean I "hack" my own computer when I can't remember the password and try every one I remember ever using?

No, because it's YOUR computer. You're not attempting to gain control over someone else's account.
This guy got in trouble because he attempted to gain access to an account that WASN'T HIS and was successful. The method is irrelevant.
Why is that so fucking hard to understand
I guess it is.
You shameless hacker!
Declaring war? Not so much. Saying something like "Evacuate blah blah city for whatever reason" (phrased a BIT more convincingly) could cause some serious problems. If someone found their way into the command center for the Emergency Broadcast system, he wouldn't be arrested for 'walking around'.
You are forgetting that he is French, he isn't capable of forming a sentence like that, so no-one would believe the twitter message.
