The South offers nothing economically. They haven't had anything of value since the Civil War.
Farms are pretty fucking important you dipshit. Texas also has oil, NC used to be the banking center of the country until Wachovia was bought out by Wells-Fargo, Florida has huge tourist attraction, ect.
Its an editorial piece that is meant to provoke discussion, nothing more. I'm sorry I've upset you by posting it I guess I'll go kill myself now.
Yes, and this is my discussion on it.
How is he not fit to lead the country? Please explain.
Tape a list of what he's done to a dartboard, then throw 50 darts. All 50 will hit things he's failed America on. Just off the top of my head: We're still fucking the middle east over We're still in a shit economy We still owe more money than exists Our dollar is worth far less than it should be, and that's just getting worse We're still dealing with shit like the TSA We're still dealing with a congress that has a lower approval rating than the Ebola virus We're still dealing with a horribly broken education system We're still engaged in political dick-waving contests with half of the world We're still dragging our european allies into shitholes they don't want or need to be in We're giving semi-rich yuppies tax breaks on Priuses while ignoring the real issues Our space program is in shambles. We used to to be able to land people on the moon, now the best we can do is send a couple orbital probes up. Our national infrastructure is crumbling around us with no federal funding to repair it. States have to cough it up, and they can only repair parts that are in their jurisdiction, and to complicate it further they're not exactly flush either. If he was fit to lead us he would have at least begun solving those problems. He's been in office for three fucking years, that's plenty of time to knock half that list down at least. The budget will take a bit more balancing than can be done in three years I'll admit, but the rest of that? Perfectly acceptable to finish in one term, and I'm sure there's even more he's failed us on that I can't think of off the top of my head. I want a president that will do his fucking job, which I may remind you is to lead this country and solve as many of it's problems as is humanly possible. Is that really too much to ask?!

Is that really too much to ask?!
If you're held back by an economy that is structurally destabilised by housing markets and lending, then it becomes far more difficult to achieve those kind of goals in any short space of time. Frankly three years isn't very long at all, and a government ideally would have five years to implement policy and not spend half of its time electioneering. That's not to mention the flawed Washington system that allows the President and the Congress to have some mutual ball-squeeze going on. If you put any of the great presidents of the last century into this same position, they wouldn't be able to do comparatively much either. It's not a case of good vs. bad president, it's a restrictive system in a horrible economic climate.
The South offers nothing economically. They haven't had anything of value since the Civil War.
that's funny because it was before the civil war, then after they became a major player in the railroad, radio, television, and even big names are based from there (coke, home depot) and hold major farms and shipping harbors along the coast of the gulf of mexico. They are doing bad now, but if you haven't noticed, EVERYONE IS DOING BAD. don't blame the states or the people, blame the fucking corporations that are outsourcing jobs and lobbying laws that put clamps on jobs. fyi if you actually went to the south now, you would notice that southerners are completely different from rednecks.
The South offers nothing economically. They haven't had anything of value since the Civil War.
Jesus christ, you're an ignorant fuck. [release]In the late 20th century, the South changed dramatically. It saw a boom in its service economy, manufacturing base, high technology industries, and the financial sector. Tourism in Florida and along the Gulf Coast grew steadily throughout the last decades of the 20th century. Numerous new automobile production plants have opened in the region, or are soon to open, such as Mercedes-Benz in Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Hyundai in Montgomery, Alabama; the BMW production plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina; Toyota plants in Georgetown, Kentucky, Blue Springs, Mississippi and San Antonio; the GM manufacturing plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee; the Nissan North American headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee; and the Volkswagen Chattanooga Assembly Plant. The two largest research parks in the country are located in the South: Research Triangle Park in North Carolina (the world's largest) and the Cummings Research Park in Huntsville, Alabama (the world's fourth largest). Many major banking corporations have headquarters in the region. Charlotte is home to Bank of America, and was also home to Wachovia before its purchase by Wells Fargo; Birmingham boasts Regions Financial Corporation, AmSouth Bancorporation, and BBVA Compass; Atlanta is home to SunTrust Banks and the district headquarters of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta; and BB&T is headquartered in Winston-Salem. Atlanta and its surrounding area are also home to many major corporations outside the banking sector, such as The Coca-Cola Company and The Home Depot, and also to many cable television networks, such as CNN, TBS, TNT, Turner South, Cartoon Network, and The Weather Channel. This economic expansion has enabled parts of the South to report some of the lowest unemployment rates in the United States.[/release] Along with the massive amount of natural resources in the south, it is hardly an economic dead zone.
Hell no!
When I look at America, I look how badly things are turning out from this country from the awful news that I've been reading, and from what I've been hearing left and right, and these ridiculous laws, acts, and all kinds of stupid shit that does no good... it's like people in our office want this whole nation to commit suicide and want complete control over our lives of do's and dont's, restricting freedom. -We have this infamous SOPA act which going to damage our internet usage and "Chinese styled" censorship. -Our runner ups to be elected look grim, as most are insane and retarded. -Our economy is still going down to the shit, as I and the thousands of other people trying to get a job or trying to keep our job, and our government is not improving it at all, maybe doing the exact opposite. -corruption is everywhere nowadays, you see protests everywhere and you see cop brutality in the rise, lawsuits over stupid shit and companies finding more ways to rip us off. It's not really looking good, and sometimes I wish i move out of this place because i don't see no sign of improvement, and I am stuck here in this shit because of a lack of a job to earn about more then 200K to move to Sweden and purchase a home and earn citizenship to somewhere probably way much more better then what America is becoming.
I think either way we go, it won't be good. Maybe I'm cynical...:downs:
And education (at least a little bit). I will be so happy once the old men in Congress start dieing off and we can actually see some change. So happy.
+1 People should not be allowed to have any position of power if they are above 45.
+1 People should not be allowed to have any position of power if they are above 45.
And you base this on what?
Well for the US, the problem lies with Congress and the GOP, but most of them are really old and another year means another year closer to death for them. So that's why the new years is so special
Thank you for giving me a reason to celebrate New Years.
