so what would actual misandry look like?
Don't look at me; our society would have to be radically different from the one that exists now for misandry to exists in a meaningful form since misogynist attitudes are so deeply ingrained into our society. You'd, more or less, have to imagine the exact opposite of the world we live in.
pseudo-Freud? lol you can't get more pseudo than Freud
bah, at least Freud used to be a respectable field in psychology.
not that his post even remotely reminded me of Freud.
a lot less dicks and penis envy.
Hey, your uncle had to go through this because of misogyny. Male-on-female domestic abuse cases are treated so seriously because they're such a big problem in our society. There are so many men out there beating women that the courts have had no choice but to take the woman's side by default to get anything done. Likewise, since society thinks women are weaker, society doesn't take cases of female-on-male domestic abuse seriously.
This is yet another example of one of the ways that misogyny can hurt men in addition to women.
I'm not talking about misogyny, I'm talking about the woman in the OP because this is what all the discussion stems from. I have no problem with her doing a documentary, and quite frankly I think it's a good issue for an internet documentary, but I have no faith in that she will execute it properly, simply because she doesn't seem to suppress her bias (everybody has a bias, but if you're looking into an issue, you should report it objectively and then analyze the problem) at all. The uproar that this has caused is ridiculous (and some of it very harmful), but the case itself is ridiculous.
that apparently no male here likes, since its brought up over and over again
and no-one likes being poor, yet people support the institutions that make people poor.
so what would actual misandry look like?
To answer that you'd probably have to find a completely matriarchal society and ask the men there.

I'd get laid?
I'm going to hang out in my corner, of waiting and hoping that it will educational and not ridicule.

that's because she's not a reporter, she's a feminist media critic. that's not bias, that's simply the set of theories and viewpoints that she uses in order to criticize the medium.

imagine a world in which a penis is the most offensive body part you could show on TV
who what where
which feminists?
this still has zero to do with feminism, and i'm pretty sure you haven't read a single word by any feminist author!!
forget pseudo-Freud, try pseudo-intellectual.
i hate that term but there's no other way to describe your musing on feminism.
Oh yes, I'm sure you're an expert on feminism related subjects, and like all other 'experts' you spend your evenings on assorted gaming forums telling people how little we know.
I'm convinced that the male/female status is something that is hardwired into our nature, and while everyone is focusing on the issue based off of the little rituals that we call society, the real problem lies much deeper. It's. Like trying to fix 'faulty' hardware by installing different software drivers.

I thought using your own particular set of theories and viewpoints WAS bias...

become a transhumanist then
Oh yes, I'm sure you're an expert on feminism related subjects
i'm not asking you to be an expert, i'm asking you to actually read something a feminist wrote so you don't pull things out of what should now be a very very very large anus.

well we fixed slavery, gave civil rights to blacks, and gave women the right to vote.
when you look back on our history that's a great step forward.
so sorry your hardware/software shtick is fatalistic non-sense. i have a sarcastic Stereolab song just for you:
My uncle was actually accused by his girlfriend of assaulting her (when it was actually the other way around), and the police and the prosecutor was at first completely convinced that he did it - simply because he was a man and as such larger and stronger than her. The prosecutor was especially vile and hated him outright, without having any proof whatsoever. He was first released when they could find no physical damage on her but marks on him. And then the fact that she has some mental problems. And this is one of the nicest men I have ever met.
This is not a big problem in our society, but these cases do exist, and as such there is actually a bias towards women in cases like these. At least in Sweden and Denmark. Of course this should in no way overshadow the iequality issues that we have, but the women in the OP called cases like these myths, and this is obviously not the only example.
Yeah except the idea that "men can't be raped" is still a result of misogyny.
The man is seen as powerful and dominant, whereas the woman is seen as weak and subservient. She's exploiting misogyny to garner sympathy and protection.
there are idiots in any group or ideology you care to name, that's not an argument against the core claims of that ideology.
yes, radical, idiot feminists exist, because radical, idiot humans exist. it goes without saying. it would be news if feminism didn't contain a retarded fringe minority
Well then that also invalidates arguments that other people have been using, such as the one about the person that called that chick a whore and a slut for wanting contraception.
what's going on in this thread
become a transhumanist then
Brb uploading myself to the internet.
I'd get laid?
you'd have a 1 in 5 chance of having your drink spiked by a gross woman and then she'd probably sit on your face (and then everyone would be more worried about women being falsely accused of rape)
also, imagine male masturbation being illegal and taboo due to the loss of life due to ejaculation, but female masturbation being a-okay since no holy sperm are lost in the process
Oh yes, I'm sure you're an expert on feminism related subjects, and like all other 'experts' you spend your evenings on assorted gaming forums telling people how little we know.

the male/female dichotomy is hardwired, the status and roles are not (though they tend to be statistically skewed in favor of males it's not as though it's unfixable)
I thought using your own particular set of theories and viewpoints WAS bias...
yeah but feministfequency is not going for neutrality, that's admitted. it's in the name.
the point isn't to demonstrate, rather it's to explain using the analytical framework of feminism.
I thought using your own particular set of theories and viewpoints WAS bias...
What he means is that she's not attempting to present anything in an unbiased manner as that is not her goal.

Female masturbation isn't illegal, and where did you get those statistics on roofies? That's an absolutely through-the-roof number.
Female masturbation isn't illegal, and where did you get those statistics on roofies?
But racism and the status of women in society are still pretty big issues, which IMO prove my point that people are hardwired for this behaviour, and simply changing a law or introducing new "society rules" is not the way to deal with these issues.
and where did you get those statistics on roofies?
federal department of misandry
Female masturbation isn't illegal, and where did you get those statistics on roofies?
It is in some countries, actually. And not just the really shitty backwards ones either. Australia has laws about Female masturbation (specifically orgasms), though they haven't outright banned it.

well it's not evidence either way really
under both hypotheses, the transition will be bumpy
then what's the way to deal with these issues?
this seems to be working, racism and the status of women is not really that big of a problem in some other nations and that seems to be primary caused by economical factors.
