It was at this moment I knew you are a social outcast.

"Ha ha! I won an argument against an idiot!"
Yeah that's sounds titleworthy right guys
Wow, I feel so privileged.
I'm going to just skip to the end if you don't mind though,
Cool, you did research. Thing is though, this is your belief, or rather lack of one, so thanks for the clarification of why you're an atheist but it really has nothing to do with that other guy.
What he asserted was religious belief was incompatible with believing in science, so let me just make this completely fucking simple so you can't fuck this up again: religion and science are independent of each other, they are apples and oranges. Science is not a religion.
I'm going to ignore the asshole that suggested I was a social outcast and just report him, but as for you, I literally just refuted every argument you threw at him, and you're going to ignore it?
That means I win unless I'm mistaken.
It shows a willing belief in ignorance and if I'm not mistaken, that means you're an idiot.

Funny thing about that though...
You seem to be under the hilariously mistaken impression that I'm Christian, you've "refuted every argument" in such a way that makes your anti-Christian rage completely apparent. Oh, and you didn't refute anything by the way, you just went full reddit rationalist like I was somehow unaware of why humanity invented organized religion. I can only assume that you're absolutely fuming with rage right now, (perhaps I will deserve another response) or you're blubbering and clutching your fedora tightly wondering why somebody who isn't one of those no good meanie Christian poopoo heads isn't jacking off your mighty ego. How does it feel to be exactly like the type of person who believes prehistoric man bumped shoulders with dinosaurs because "the bible says" (no it doesn't by the way) the earth is six thousand years old?
I didn't go point-for-point with your big goddamn post was because one, there wasn't very much substance to the post, and two, it was all about you when literally nobody was talking about you. Then you threatened to change your title to "slayer of idiots" because I didn't immediately respond to your scathing wit like that was supposed to goad me into a response, but little did you know I've got way more important shit to do than F5 this fucking thread. Really if you are that much of a fucking child and whine about "the asshole" that suggested you're a social outcast and then call me an idiot, well... I hope you know that you really do seem like a petty social outcast desperate for validation. So with that said if you really, really need to prance around on your high-horse wearing your "I'm the smartest person on the board" shirt then fine: you win the internet little buddy, good job!

How the hell would aliens falsify the bible, though? There's mountains of evidence already suggesting so that has been discovered since the age of Christianization, that even the least fervent believers will refuse to believe, so this won't exactly smack the cross down in one fell swoop, now.

Oh good. You're still assuming shit and throwing out illogical conclusions and arguments, completely lacking the ability to make sense. I never said you were a Christian. Second, you're obviously so ignorant you can't even debate properly without resorting to personal attacks about something as irrelevant as my social life, which is pretty good as far as I can tell. Not that it's any of your goddamn business, but the fact that I'm not resorting to bullshit insults like calling me a "fucking child" shows that just MAYBE I'm a little more mature.
"Social Outcast"... Give me a fucking break.

Shut the fuck up. Seriously.
Everything he's said has been just as bad, if not worse.
I believe that is what I said, yes. There's a notable institute nearby, and somehow my core group of friends ended up being made up of people who studied there. I guess I just gravitate towards people like that - I know I definitely don't enjoy being around dimwits whose only references to the higher studies are that scientists are evil and evolution and climate change are lies from the devil. Regardless, my friends have definitely given me an appreciation of science that I didn't always have, mostly because I struggled with the subject when I was in high school. That they managed to accomplish this while also being very devout has challenged my perceptions about Christianity and religion in general - which is precisely why I posted in this thread in the first place. I don't deny there is plenty of stupidity down here - my comment about backwards redneck neighbors was from experience - but to be frank, I also encountered plenty of dumb up north, where I lived for almost twice as long.
Let me rephrase that. Are most of them engineers or scientists?
I could see NASA finding proof and saying "we aint found shit" just to relax all the crazies out there just in case they will all go bat shit over the discovery that the bible is actually false.
It'll take more than aliens to convince the religious.
The Earth doesn't revolve around the sun, people still believe
We have germ theory, people still believe
We know about Earth-like exoplanets, people still believe
We have a well established fossil record in support of evolution, and a solid mechanistic understanding of the process, people still believe... etc
It doesn't matter what proof there is to the contrary, people will always justify religion with whatever excuse they need to combat the dissonance in their hearts. Religion gives people a sense of community and identity, and it's very hard to separate people from those things.

Bottom line is you're basically screaming and pitching a fit because there's somebody on the internet who would answer "fuck, I don't know... maybe?" to the question if a god exists. Why are you so goddamn assmad about this anyway? Why does that threaten you? Frankly I don't have a problem with atheism necessarily, but your behavior is precisely the reason why I avoid people who openly self-identify as atheists. Frankly the word "atheist" now is tainted by all the fedora-wearing fat fucks out there who feel the need to browbeat everyone who doesn't explicitly deny that there could be any possible supernatural entity ever.
So yeah, I mistook your tl;dr post about how you've "researched religion" and the tone of it as an insinuation that you think I'm Christian when you clearly called me a deist so... My bad. You're still completely wrong though, and you still haven't refuted a single fucking thing because science is not, never was, and never will be a religion and is completely independent of religious faith. I really, really do not give a shit about how right you think you are here, I see no explicit evidence that religious belief and an acceptance of scientific evidence as fact are incompatible; on the contrary people across the globe do that very thing every single fucking day.
Shut the fuck up. Seriously.

You know what that sounds like? Those crazy motherfuckers on the street who try to save people by scaring them, screaming terrible things at them so they repent and honestly you piss me off in the exact same way. (because really, you ARE the same) At least they have a reason for doing that, they have some (theoretically) altruistic motive in saving souls, but you on the other hand are just plain goddamn malicious. You're not trying to save anyone, you're just masturbating your own ego at the expense of anyone you feel is beneath you.
Congratulations on being a terrible human being.
their technology will obey the same set of rules as we do, however we also cannot rule out the possibility that we don't know all the rules. 300 years ago, radio was unknown. as far as it concerned us, it did not exist. the idea of being able to communicate vast distances in an instant would be a magical idea, not grounded in any scientific reality, yet we now use it constantly. it does not seem unreasonable to me to keep an open mind that there may be forces out there we cannot detect yet, and thus cannot understand. we do not know what and how much we do not know and we have to take that into account when discussing something like aliens. they very well could have a better understanding of the universe than us, could perform feats which are not possible according to our scientific understanding, purely because they've been knocking about longer than we have.
I never said we should rule out the possibility, but without evidence for new forces we should not assume they exist either. Basically we should not assume anything without evidence.
On the topic of religion, I dont really care what you believe as long as you dont go trying to make predictions based on your beliefs. Religion doesn't have much predictive capability, science does, so I prefer what science says over what religion says.

I know this is really REALLY off track but I have my very own view on things. Replace religion with the term psychonaut and you'll have a better idea where I am coming from. I try to be original.
The only reason you misunderstood is you've been conditioned to respond to cliche responses.
One source of my ideas is from the book "The History of God" by Karen Armstrong.
I think it would be really impressive if we could confirm existence of super-structure
which was built around some star ...
