Oh shit. American living in China here. I probably must join the China army because Americans have to join in with any war.
Sorry to disappoint you, but foreigners "Aliens" are forbidden to join the army in China.
Anyway, there won't be shit happening. The major countries won't be making the mistake of releasing fallout 4 just yet.
Just ignore em' US,or else you will drag Russia and quite a few of their allies agains you.
Nothing will happen! Jesus!
It's like some of the people on here want something to happen.
Every superpower needs to have it's enemies, for the U.S in the 30s - 40s it was the germans, in the 50s - 90s it was the russians, from the 90s to now it's islamic extremists, it keeps the nation from dividing and turning on itself when there is something external to hate and fear. So china has just picked a few from the air that it can sort of look like it's doing something about, instead of trying to take on the west and losing badly or causing WW3
Eight people didn't get the hint that America economical relies on China (and the other way to), including you. Doubt America wants to get into a big war with a double dip around the corner.
That makes absolutely no sense. I agree that we have substantial economic ties to China, but if we were to just let China wander around the Pacific and attack targets at it's fancy, we would be proving to China and anyone that may wish to take advantage of any weakness on our part that we cannot protect our allies.
And that's even suggesting that China would DO anything! You'd have to be stupid to think that China would seriously consider declaring war on the Philippines, let alone Vietnam!
[editline]4th October 2011[/editline]
It's like you don't understand globalization or something. You think our economy would suffer if we had to cut ties with China? Hell yes it would, but it would pale in comparison to what would happen to China's economy.
China's economy is almost entirely based on exports. What happens when you piss off NATO, the UN and all of your trade partners? No more trade. The only part of China's economy that isn't based on the exportation of cheap crap and solar panels is all "ghost-growth", AKA the empty cities.
[editline]4th October 2011[/editline]
Not to mention that they do NOT have a war-time economy, which means the switch from manufacturing toys to bombs would be a joke.
I wish them luck. We're so beat down and bankrupted by the wars Bush conned us into and our wrecked economy that we won't lift a finger to stop them.
Off-topic, are you from Texas?
Holy shit
Yeah, screw the fact we have the largest and best equipped navy in the world
We could do a lot of air strikes and things of that nature, but our ground forces are rather stretched at the moment.
I can almost guarantee you that nothing will happen at all. China doesn't seem like the nation that start wars.
Either way China is going to win because of their fucking Yak cavalry

And by the looks of the article in OP, that Chinese article seems to be one of those "opinion" things that random people are writing to stir shit up.
What could china possibly want with a u2 album
What could china possibly want with a u2 album
Extract the songs and use it in nuclear bombs
Would you guys please read. This is a journalists saying not an official statement.
War. War never changes.
The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory. Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower.
But war never changes.
In the 21st century, war was still waged over the resources that could be acquired. Only this time, the spoils of war were also its weapons: Petroleum and Uranium. For these resources, China would invade Vietnam, the US would assault Iraq, and the European Commonwealth would dissolve into quarreling, bickering nation-states, bent on controlling the last remaining resources on Earth.
In 20XX, the storm of world war had come again. In two brief hours, most of the planet was reduced to cinders. And from the ashes of nuclear
devastation, a new civilization would struggle to arise...
Edit: And yes, Vietnam has oil.
I hope US stays the fuck out before we get nuked to hell and back.
Also sensationalist headlines, OP probably is anti china.
Edit: Sure, china is communist, communism is evil. Still their "few" nukes are a reason enough to shut the fuck up and play nice.

You take this way too seriously.
it's time to police the world!
Has china invaded yet?

Who gives a shit about what you have? This is not US business.

FPers tend to not have the ability to read or even think rationally. I don't know if the people in this thread are being sarcastic when they go yapping about war and US getting involved. My earlier post was a stupid joke, a ten year old could see trough it, but yet I see some took it seriously. If you take this article seriously, then you should do that to FoxNews comments as well, because I guess they are all official and serious.

I'm assuming people are being sarcastic due to this being an opinion piece and all.
Although it is just an opinion piece, I have family who live on the border. They don't like the Chinese snooping over very much. They like to snoop.

They're about as Communist as the Koch Brothers.
WAT
The UN won't be too happy about this.
The UN won't be too happy about this.
Happy about what? The article someone printed?
Cause every single month we get an article(not facepunch) that says the U.S. has enemies and we should declare war on them - (such as Iran, Pakistan, Burma, China, Russia, Belarus, etc.)
If you're actually worried the Chinese government will actually declare on one of these nations around their country, don't be, because they are seemingly peacefully disputing the South China Sea.

And yet they said they wanted to keep their troops in there until 2020.

Just Americans being paranoid themselfs and jumping on the high-horse of patriotism before those damn Chinese remind them that USA can't actually do anything big without committing economical suicide.
Looks like another war America's going to get into, wasting more trillions...

Most if not all of your posts always seem stupid like this because you don't even read the thread.
