Aussies look to ban lever action rifles and shotguns
America isn't the world. Shockingly, other countries don't have gun cultures, and it would be nice if this fact could be respected by Gun nuts.
Interesting how you have no qualms telling Americans how our gun culture is awful and needs to be eradicated, but don't like Americans telling you that your gun laws are too strict.

If you can find the post in this thread where I've called for the eradication of gun culture I'd be happy to retract my original comment then.
Yeah since you've never posted outside of this thread right Sobotnik?
So what happens to Australians who already own the Adler? I guess it'd be fit to ask what happened to the weapons owned by Australians when the Gov't decided to stamp out gun ownership before?
Maybe this means I can find Adlers in the US for cheap, someday. Australia's unfortunate loss would be my gain, seems like a neat weapon to own, shame the gov't disagrees. Seems like it'd be great for pests and removing canbab.
Yeah since you've never posted outside of this thread right Sobotnik?
If you can find a comment of mine where I've called for "the eradication of gun culture" in the past year, I'll double my original offer and you will win a pack of glitzy pens.

You have less than 100 posts in the past year due to your unperma, you may as well say in the past 2 months.

The point is that it's pretty irrelevant here. What fucking relevance does a bunch of posts from a few years ago have now? A lot of people outside of America have different views on gun legislation because they don't feel or see the need to own one for protection.
holy shit australians are such pussies when it comes to firearms.

Doesn't help when the day before your permaban 1 year and 3 weeks ago you said this:
Slowly removing a culture of excessive gun ownership will also make it less likely that a mass shooter will even know where to get a firearm, how to operate it effectively, and not be spotted anytime in intermediate steps.
Mass shootings are rare in countries like Britain for that reason. Guns are hard to obtain here. It is not something easily hidden. You have less opportunity to practice with them than you do in the state. The people in the country as a whole do not tolerate guns as much as Americans.
It can still happen, but the probability is much much less likely.
And what's one way of changing the culture around guns? Reducing the number of situations in which it is socially acceptable to wield and use firearms. Since the 19th century, the use of firearms in American society has become less socially acceptable.
I love how you use the 1 year mark to your advantage to prevent previous statements from before your ban from being used.
Also; you made it relevant by saying that we should look through your history for posts relating to it.

Seven rounds is counted as "High Capacity" by police forces interviewed in the article. It's a joke.

man i know america has it's dunderheads but it takes a special kind of dunderhead to say that seven rounds is high capacity. What would they say if they saw my 100 round barrel(as if i had one, i wish though)

Sorry that we want to stay alive?
Sorry that I didnt get shot and killed by some loony in high school like most kids in America?
(User was banned for this post ("Don't complain about a thread getting derailed if you're gonna make dumb posts like this" - postal))

This is a very low effort post with no aim but to rile people up by stating something everyone who will read it knows isn't true
you can do better
you should feel bad tbh : /
Sorry that we want to stay alive?
Sorry that I didnt get shot and killed by some loony in high school like most kids in America?
still would happen even if there was a ban, so your point is moot
I and many others in this country don't feel the need to carry a gun and would not think of shooting someone if they came into our home, rather trying to knock them out or restrain them
Defence wise, on the street I never want to see anybody except a police officer or military personnel carry a firearm. You dared open carry in this country in a food court, shopping centre, park etc regardless where the weapon was positioned, you would have everyone screaming and hiding for their life.
Australia doesn't and will never have a gun culture, the ban of firearms was the best thing the Howard Government did
what if the person who broke in your house had a gun and wanted to shoot you?
How quickly do you think you can react to getting shot at down a hallway? Do you really think you would get anywhere near them?
still would happen even if there was a ban, so your point is moot
I know since we've had 0 massacres since the gun ban in 1996
Sorry that we want to stay alive?

Most kids in America get shot in high school, yes
Sorry that we want to stay alive?

Most kids in America that shoot up schools use illegal firearms.
You can also blame a lot of our news channels making field days out of school shootings only to get into the heads of copy cats.

I didn't mean for people to actually go look in year old posts. The point is that it's ages ago and my views could have changed, and somebody saying "you're a hypocrite" doesn't stand up as an actual argument.
I mean when I talk about gun owners somehow being shocked at how other countries have different attitudes towards guns, I'm talking about people like this:
holy shit australians are such pussies when it comes to firearms.
And even if you wanted to go dig in a post that's over a year ago (I didn't pick the date out of intentional malice or some bullshit), I doubt I'd have said that Americans are shitheads when it comes to guns.
Now can we move on?
what if the person who broke in your house had a gun and wanted to shoot you?

First off, I don't know who I pissed off in my life who was so contempt in making sure I was dead. But in the scenario that he did, me reaching for a weapon would equal a quick death anyway
So honestly what id do is let him and hope he's shit as fuck, get wounded, go to hospital and live my life again
I've got private health insurance, I need a reason to use it actually tbh
I know since we've had 0 massacres since the gun ban in 1996
but see this is our country, given that yours has a more gun hating view on things but for a country like mine with the mass population it has we can't stop the flow of guns no matter how hard we try criminals will still have them and the gen. pop doesn't leaving them vulnerable. I'm sorry i offended you but i really just don't see the point in banning guns especially if it helps farmers

Do I have to remind you that this thread is about an Australian issue that doesn't concern Americans?

so your method of self defense is pretty much roll over and die?
i mean, this doesn't even need to have guns be a part of it, if someone threatened your life you'd just let them kill you?
Do I have to remind you that this thread is about an Australian issue that doesn't concern Americans?
my point still stands i still don't see why banning a type of firearm that farmers typically use is really benificial

You dont need to piss off anyone breaking into your house with a gun. You just need a place you live in. You pretty much just said you would probably let him do whatever. I guess thats where we differ, I dont know why I would ever want some fuck with a gun do anything to me, id rather shoot him somewhere, wound him and HE can go the hospital and live his life again in jail.
Sorry that we want to stay alive?

School shootings are extremely rare, you do know that right?
Also, most people in america never even encounter a mass shooting simply due to their rarity.
You guys have 1/10 the population(nearly 1/14), of course an event of this rarity is going to less common.
Even here, the VAST majority of gun violence in "school shootings" is between individuals with very little or no collateral.
if either way, you grabbing a weapon or you not grabbing a weapon, would end with them still trying to kill you, you'd take the method that would give you even less of a chance of surviving?
but lever actions are the coolest
America could try gun control on some level but honestly you won't
And when it comes to "well what we do?" I've now stood that I reckon if america modernises and upgrades and provides free mental health cover to all citizens you'd see a drop in massacres
I mean it's obvious you lot won't ever ditch the 2nd Amendment so just go with mental health instead

I can never see myself using or owning a gun for self defence reasons, and honestly if someone came into my house with a gun id try my best to run or find a vulnerability in the person and go that way
I don't know why you all think I want to shoot someone? I have nightmares over this bullshit
