1. lol semantics
2. if its as rare as you say we wouldn't be having these articles or any stores banning this kind of shit
1. When the difference is a semi-auto hunting rifle that meets a senile old senator's definition of "spooky" and a military issue machine gun (legal classification for assault rifles), that's more than semantics
2. You're not familiar with how sensationalism works are you?

1. You have no idea what you are talking about.
2. Sensationalism, and again, you have no idea what you are talking about.
Since 1934, only two homicides have been committed with legally owned fully automatic firearms. One of which was committed by a police officer. The media makes semi automatic sound scary, normally because they like to claim they are fully automatics. They like to use scary terms to make them seem bad. They also have no fucking clue what they are talking about, this goes for the media, several mayors and governors, and even Obama himself. When they talk about AR-15's they often use the firing rate as an example of the AR-15's "evilness", even though the firing rate they often use is that of the full auto M-16. Obama called them weapons of war, although AR-15's since 1963 have normally been for the civilian market, with some exceptions for law enforcement. The M-16 and M-4 are the military weapons, the AR-15 is the civilian version. Used to be able to buy AR-15's from a newspaper for 150 bucks, and they were sold as hunting, camping, or sporting rifles. They came with a standard sized magazine as well.
can we please just get rid of open carry
of all the positive things to pro-gun shit, OC is NEVER going to be one of them
pro-gun people dont like them, anti-gun people dont like them and it benefits no one
it'd make everyone happy if we got rid of it

That is just your opinion. Open carry is a legal means to carry a firearm in a region where the law enforcement makes it very hard/unable to procure a concealed weapons permit.
I work at a Target on Long Island and I've never seen anybody with a firearm walking around. Granted I guess that has to do with the culture here because I've never seen anybody open carry here in my whole life. I'm pretty sure if anybody around here was walking around with some firearm strapped to their back everybody would DIP.
Yeah it's not uncommon to see conscripts wearing their uniform and carrying their rifle on public transport, and that doesn't make me feel like I'm in a war zone.
There's a difference between having your local professional army/militia/police wearing uniforms and guns patroling down the street and having unaffiliated gun-tottering weirdos showing up in local stores in the baby aisle with hacked together custom sem-automatic weapons with extended magazines strapped to their backs yelling random insults at people.

Can we discuss what actually happened to differentiate what you think happened?
They can say don't bring guns into their store, but unless they have signs, of a specific size, saying it, you can walk right in with yours legally. You may cause a scene and get thrown out by the store (Not the Police), but you'd have a legal case to fight them in court about it, if you chose to give yourself a financial and time wasting headache. Target sells alcohol, but not for consumption on the premises so you can still legally carry.
They can throw you the fuck out for whatever reason they want. It's private property.
Actually just because it's private property doesn't mean you can "throw people the fuck out". You can request for the person to leave, if the person doesn't then you have to call the cops. The cops would come and give the guy a "really dude, come on" look, and then all involved parties would separate.
If your security dudes try to manhandle the guy, he can legally sue the ever living fuck out of you. So no, you aren't going to "throw them the fuck out".
TL;DR: just because it's private property, doesn't mean you can just "get rid of people".
I think target should be allowed to use castle doctrine and shoot these people out the building

In Texas, it's illegal to bring a concealed weapon onto a premises that sells alcohol, whether it be for immediate consumption or not.

Yeah, the good folks here at Beauford & Beauford's Whites-Only Restaurant and Fish Weir Emporium take great advantage of this rule.

are you comparing banning people wielding weapons to racism
I like guns, own guns, and am used to being around guns, but if I ever saw some dude in a store with an ar15 I don't think I would be very comfortable.
I have a CC permit and often carry my Glock 26, but open carrying a rifle around is just plain stupid. I know the kind of people that do that stuff, and they are not representing the majority of US gun owners.
