Going by the poster I'd say it looks like the main villain in the next movie are the Borg.
Based on what? The borg are led by a Brit now?
Someone had a better guess than my Section 31 one. The guess is that Cumberbatch is playing Garth of Izar. http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Garth_of_Izar
The teaser though speaks heavily of Genetics... which leads to believe a younger Khan, but its certainly not like... the borg or something.
I think I see the London eye on the far left (it could be any old ferris wheel, but since the Gherkin is there too...)

Seeing as the poster shows London, I think the main villain will be the Daleks.
This has got me excited.
Bring on the trailer!
I just hope it had good music. The 2009 movie had a pretty good score.

:20bux: there's still no klingons
:20bux: there's still no klingons
Well, they were mentioned in the first movie, and a scene that was cut had them. Their design had them wearing helmets with ridges on them to hide the fact that their foreheads are smooth.

didn't the reboot take place before any notable contact with the Klingons?
didn't the reboot take place before any notable contact with the Klingons?
The Kobyashi Maru scenario was in the Reboot, so no.

the original star trek series, and the new film both took place long after first run-in with the Klingons. The first contact with the Klingons took place pretty much on the first episode of Star Trek: Enterprise, which was a prequel series taking place on the first warp 5 ship of the federation, the NX-01 Enterprise... Which was actually the second enterprise (first one was scrapped supposedly), The Enterprise in the original show then being the third enterprise, but the first with the NCC-1701 serial. And even at that point, they already knew about the Klingons, and had a very shaky relationship with them.

Universal apparently confirmed a released screenie from JJ that had a klink in it, so klinks should be in this one. Their role is still unknown.

Based on nothing I just want to see what the Borg could look like. I also thought that was kirk in the black. So all in all my guess is really based on nothing.

the new movies take place long before the first contact with the Borg. The federation makes contact with the borg in the Delta Quadrant when Q sends the Enterprise-D there just to meet the Borg, as a sneak peek at things to come, and to show Picard how unprepared the Federation really is.
I. am. psyched.
Reboot or not, that is not the style of Star Trek. Horrible cover.
Reboot or not, that is not the style of Star Trek. Horrible cover.
How is it not the style? It's pretty much the style of MOST Star Trek films. TV Series, no, Films, yes. Tv series yes, if you count the Dominion war, the battle at Wolf 359, that time a probe destroyed a huge chunk of Florida, that time the Nazis managed to invade the US with the help of aliens. That time the Hirogen rigged up Voyager's holodecks to do a WW2 simulation with the crew being brainwashed.

We don't talk about that.
We don't talk about that.
Why, it was actually a good series overall, not the greatest, not even close. but it wasn't a bad series.

Enterprise was good until they started that time war bullshit.

season 4 was the best season.
On the bright side, they moved away from the red and blue format for posters. I for one welcome the coming of the grey and blue era.

the new movies take place in a new timeline so literally anything can happen
Yeah, a lot of shit has actually happened earlier than it should in the new timeline.

They've released a teaser for Into Darkness?
Wait.
Benedict Cumberbatch is the villain? 100% hyped for this.
Anyway, I've still got to watch the original and the next generation series... just after I finish Buffy.

Every trailer and every movie poster is just like every other trailer and movie poster. They're all designed by marketing people that haven't had a new idea in 20 years.
Thankfully, trailers and posters really have nothing to do with the actual movie.
